- ✈️ Flying While Pregnant? Here's How to Reduce Your Risk of DVT 💡
Pregnancy increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and long flights can make it worse. Here’s what you can do to stay safe:
🔹 For short flights (under 4 hours), no special measures are usually needed, but get advice from your doctor on personal risk factors.
🔹 For medium/long flights (over 4 hours): • Wear loose clothing & comfy shoes • Choose an aisle seat & walk around regularly • Do in-seat exercises every 30 minutes • Drink water regularly 💧 • Limit alcohol & caffeine 🍷☕️ • Wear compression stockings
🔹 If you have additional risk factors, like previous DVT or being overweight, you may need heparin injections before & after the flight. Remember to get a letter from your doctor to carry these onboard.
Stay informed & travel safely! 🌍✨
