  • What's up guys Jeff from Sorta Healthy here! Today we'll be discussing in-home personal training!
    Unlike most of our videos, this video will mostly cover my personal experience working as an in-home personal trainer. I worked as an in-home personal trainer, or a personal trainer who trains clients in their own homes for about 5 years. It was simultaneously one of the most rewarding but also challenging things I've done. It's really what allowed me to take my training career to the next level. In fact, my very first video here on RUclips was an in-home training session.
    In addition to discussing my own personal story when it comes to in-home training we'll also discuss whether I thought in-home training was a worthwhile endeavor. Is in-home personal training worth doing going forward? That's something we'll also talk about.
    Thanks for everything guys! I appreciate all of you! If you'd like to help the channel don't forget to like and subscribe!

    Thanks for your story. I am starting my own business and I am doing Inhome personal training right now. Once I get the money saved up I am going to sub lease study space to do group training.

    I’ve been doing in home training for almost a year. Really have enjoyed it, it’s given me my start for sure and I’m so grateful for my clients but definitely ready to move on to a studio.

    In-home training has been PHENOMENAL for me. I got started while I was working at LA Fitness as a Master Trainer and left just last week to pursue it full time! I even got in contact with a luxury real estate agent in my city in order to get some referrals. Now a I'm looking at the busiest chiropractic office in town to do the same.

    How do you protect yourself from sexual harassment or from false accusations? I’m sure the vast majority of clients would never be a problem but in this day and age it only takes one bad apple to potentially ruin someone’s career or even land them in jail

      That’s a good question! I do have insurance with up to 2 million dollars in coverage. It’s only a few hundred dollars a year. Hopefully I never have to use it!

    Hey Jeff, thanks for the educational videos, they are really helping to give me ideas. So my goal is to start in home training to supplement my training in a commercial gym to make more money and start my business (my long term goal is to own my own gym). My question is do you need a business license to start mobile training? I live in New York state, I haven't really gotten an answer through my research. I'm not sure what I should start working on to begin this process. Any thoughts you have are greatly appreciated.

      While you don’t technically need it, I would recommend having an LLC as well as insurance to protect yourself and your assets.

    This is inspiring. It sounds like I'm on the right track (though you did tip me off to work on my new site's SEO, and to keyword in home training). It also makes me not feel so bad for feeling lost and restless at the lack of inquiries so far. I'm going to find a facility to work in to get some cash flow going, but my dream really is to build my own business.
    Question!: Any tips on how to handle travel fees? What is a reasonable method?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  Год назад

      So glad you found the video helpful! It sounds like you’re on the right track. In regards to travel fees, assess how many miles, how much gas, how long it takes you to get there/to another session. Ultimately what matters is how many sessions you can do a day based on how much you need to travel. You could either build a flat travel fee in your price and explain it to clients that way or tack it on in addition to your regular fee.

    I have been doing in home training for 5 + years. It's becoming a drag. From watching your videos the last few years I notice how organized your are. I'm having trouble recording the clients workouts and keeping all the sheets organized when I'm traveling around so much. Any advice ?

      Thanks for watching and the support! I’ve ran private studios for a while and that’s definitely made me more organized in all aspects of training.

    Not sure if you've covered this in a previous video, but how would you train a client with minimal equipment? Say if you are doing in-home training. Also would you recommend using your own home to train if you have just a slightly rusted power rack, plates, barbell, and resistance bands?

    Hi Jeff. What a great video. Thank you. I do in home training during summer. We have a lot of tourist who visit the island I live on. My question is the lady who I train tends to bring a friend or two during her session. What would you charge in this case?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! I would charge at least a dollar a minute and I would add a small travel charge. If you’re in a pricy area you may actually want to charge quite a bit more than that. It’s always a good idea to see what other in the area are charging too and offer a similar price.
