Hi, it depended on where you lived and what school you went to in the early 60's - at my school we could wear pants. The girls usually only wore them in winter and were usually pull on cords, twill, or stirrup pants that were spandex ( but not tight).
That kitten picture was by Walter Chandoha. He was *THE* cat & dog photographer from @ 50s-80s. His photos were in books, posters, postcards. I had one of his ”how to photograph” animals books. Look him up to see some of the best cat photos you’ve ever seen. He died only a few years ago.

I really love thrift store shopping. There used to be a GoodWill near where I used to live, that had weekly live auctions in the store. They also had silent auctions, where higher end items were kept in a glass showcase, and a 'bidding binder' was kept on top of the case, so customers could write in their bids on items they liked. Highest bid won after a week. I did this with my wonderful mom, who has since passed. I miss her every single day. We had so much fun together!!

Sterling Holloway on the Uncle Remus record is the voice of Winnie-the-Pooh. Uncle Remus has been deemed offensive and banned by Disney. The Tales of Uncle Remus was written by Joel Chandler Harris of Savannah Ga and includes the story of Br'er Rabbit.
He only lived in Savannah 3 years, and was from Eatonton, just south of Atlanta. Harris was poor, illegitimate and had red hair. He felt stigmatized and unwelcome in white society of the day, and sought out the company of slaves on the plantation on which he worked. He spent a lot of time at their quarters, and listened to the stories told in the oral tradition of the slaves and their African ancestors. Though poor, Harris, influenced and taught by his mother, was highly literate. He valued the folklore and traditions of the slaves, and wanted to preserve those stories. He got a job as a journalist and also began writing the stories he had heard as a separate enterprise. He also stared in one of my favorite episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. This season 2 episode is titled The Merchant of Mayberry. Sterling Holloway played a traveling salesmen Bert Miller who sets up a stand in Mayberry. Andy and Barney help him set up a stand partially to help Bert and partially to aggravate local department store owner Ben Weaver.

I had that bear bank when I was young, it was made by a friend of my grandmother’s and was so cute, she made many ceramic pieces and had her own studio. My grandmother used to crochet poodles that went over wine and liquor bottles but the head lifted off and the top of the body tied around the neck of the bottle so it could be removed.
I use to really love it when you would bring all your treasures home and put them on your dinning table and go through all of it that was fun. And we could catch a glimpse of Stella.☺️👍♥️

The hardware used on the flamingo mirror is indicative of what was popular in the Victorian era homes. Rods were installed high up on each wall, and they suspended all the artwork from the rods at various levels, to avoid holes in the wall. Though I feel it is anything but boring, I agree with Aaron about your flamingo mirror giving off a bit of a foreign vibe. ( : Did you keep or resell it, Jeffrey?

We don’t have goodwills and thrift stores as good as some of the ones these resellers go to. One of these days I’m doing a road trip to a bunch of different states I’ve never been to. Hopefully meeting some of these resellers

I have 2 expensive dollhouses I got from Goodwill for $3.00 each on 1/2 off day,I decorated both of them,one has a Christmas room, decorated with small Hallmark figurine ornaments from Goodwill,I would have used stuff from Hobby lobby,but it's to far from me,I made one room a robot space room,one room a unicorn room,I used Care Bear Domino tiles glued down for the floor in the Care Bear room and Disney Princess Domino's for the Princess room,I glued down Christmas gift cards for the floor in one room,I'm always adding to it as I come across new items I find,I hope your able to come across one you can decorate,a lady bought the same one I have at Goodwill,it looked so plain not decorated,I glued my Grandkids pictures and glued their names using Scrabble tiles.

I always wanted a doll house to decorate but they sell to high. If I ever get a grand child and is a girl, I will get a kit to make one.

I have 2 expensive dollhouses I got from Goodwill for $3.00 each on 1/2 off day,I decorated both of them,one has a Christmas room, decorated with small Hallmark figurine ornaments from Goodwill,I would have used stuff from Hobby lobby,but it's to far from me,I made one room a robot space room,one room a unicorn room,I used Care Bear Domino tiles glued down for the floor in the Care Bear room and Disney Princess Domino's for the Princess room,I glued down Christmas gift cards for the floor in one room,I'm always adding to it as I come across new items I find,I hope your able to come across one you can decorate,a lady bought the same one I have at Goodwill,it looked so plain not decorated,I glued my Grandkids pictures and glued their names using Scrabble tiles.
The pink bear bank with 24 KT GOLD trim has a $400 price in one of my Cookie Jar books.
It is probably worth $12.
