Good morning RNV...the edge on the photo is intentional. It is called a ‘deckle’ edge. Scrapbookers even have deckle scissors to mimic this edge in their crafting. Hope the info helps. Thank you as always for the great content!!
My dad had a paper cutter called a deckle edger in his photography business back on the 50s and 60s.
I was just at a girlfriends fathers house yesterday and I spotted those same monkeys on his shelf! Was so surprised to see them in this video today! 🐒
I think the 2$ clear candlestick was a good choice, it had a Scandinavian look.
I was thinking the same thing- maybe Kosta Boda?
Yes. It looked substantial and I actually like the clear with the lucite.
It looks like Iittala glass. They make very good glass. I couldn’t get a clear look at Barb’s piece but it looks like something on 1stDibs listed for over $300.
Great shopping video today! I think you should consider some of the really cool things you find with small chips or hairline cracks and have just a “crack and dent” sale. I think there are a lot of your customers where perfection is not necessary and would enjoy buying something cute and affordable.
Katherine Young, a relatively new RUclipsr, calls herself a “scratch and dent” collector. I asked her the question because I’d never heard the phrase before, and she said by acquiring things that were slightly imperfect, she was able to afford pieces she would never be able to otherwise. I’m sure there are other collectors with a similar mindset. Long story short? I think your idea is a good one, Trena.
Interesting suggestion...
Barb is right about the candlestick holders I bought two pairs of them for Christmas and they did not stick in my candle holders. They are not standard size so I was thinking of going to hobby lobby and bringing them along to see if I can find holders that it fits in.
Love the MCM glass bowl you found towards the end, Jeffrey! That is really a work of art. Barb, you can get something called "museum putty" to put in the bottom of the glass candlesticks hole if it's too big. It won't harm the glass or the candle and will anchor the candle in there as long as you want. Museums use it to keep objects in place in cases, in case people bump into the case or if there's an earthquake, etc. 👍🌟🌻😎
Great finds!! Love watching you and Barb shopping and how you try to talk her into buying things. She has a lot of willpower to resist. Very seldom do I say I should not have bought that because I learn so much from all of you and also look things up!!
I really like the clear glass candle holder you chose Barb!
Best find of the day by far. “Do better than that?” What?? It’s $2.00 worth far more.
Vintage greeting cards are less expensive than new ones and they can be used for there actual purpose. My friends love receiving them in the mail. The baby shower and get well cards are highly sought after.
Jeffrey I love your "back stories" esp. on the photos!
Green turtle with stones is super cute. Love the thought of adding the stones.
Picture of kids with umbrellas remind me of the old picture they used to use for Morton salt , girl holding an umbrella on salt carton. 👍
The trip through the sheet music was hilarious 😂. I must say the showstopper was that grand MCM bowl! I love you both.
I bought a vintage Mothers Day card that has been written in off of etsy for 8 dollars. I bought it for the card. Its shaped like a cone or umbrella with beautiful graphics and it opens with the honeycomb material inside. You would have to see to appreciate it but its gorgeous. Just saying people buy cards for graphics and not what kind it is. The kitten card was adorable! I love Barbs candlestick choice and the black cat. What a deal on the 4 dollar fairy lamp too.
So happy Barb picked up the monkey's they are amazing!!
So cool!
Oh Barb you’re not going to do that - it’s annoying- love the banter
I believe the monkeys are a hobbyist piece. I made a pair in the 60’s at ceramics w/ my mom. They nest into each other. We called them people watchers. ♥️
You two had a great shopping day! And I really enjoyed going along. Thanks!
I cracked up when you were looking at the old table top pictures and you came to a little girl and Jeffrey you said-“she’s constipated.” I was laughing so hard!! Love all your videos- they always make my day!
Should I be worried that I totally understand Jeffery speak ? I could just picture the spinnie ma bobber . 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I loved the General Motors quip!!
Always enjoy your videos Jeffrey. Your pace at your sales is fantastic & appreciated. 😊
Thank goodness there's BARB!
I think Barb should pitch her pieces though in the combined offers. I can tell the difference. Barbs a beautiful light anyways so this can only be a plus. Can't believe no one else comments. Yay Barb! Go Barb! Thank goodness for Barb! 💕💞
I love when you and Barb joke and shop!! Very interesting shopping trip! You are expanding your inventory to include a variety of very different items. I learned a lot!
Your umbrella picture looks like a Morton salt ad that’s been framed. You know, when it rains it pours! Anyway thats what it reminded me of! 😊
Barb likes spending your money 🤣. Deckled edges on the picture frames.
I know everyone says this but it is true. You and Barb make a great shopping team. I love these videos. Thanks for making our days brighter.
Barbs monkeys fabulous! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
I had that Little Golden Book Home for a Bunny! What wonderful memories that brought back. The pictures inside are adorable!
I love the chickens.
I love this store.
Thank you for sharing
@3:35 You need to get those green and white Jeanette Hellenic Greecian highball glasses at 50% off! Heck yeah! Barware is selling like crazy!
I just joined your perk group, we like watching you grow and succeed in your business. We also resell on Ebay and Amazon after having a retail store for 13 years. I love the hunt for treasures and being a personal shopper for the world. We watch all your videos. Keep up the great and fun work.
Regards Clark and Adam Abbott
The pink fish was excellent, Barb. I have a heck of a time finding them around here.
The turtle was precious.
I LOVE the candlestick holder Barb had. I’m all about Scandinavian design and that holder screamed Scandi!🥰
That picture with the girls with umbrellas looks like the Salt gals
Koren I bet your right !!
Yes, it looks like a 'Morton Salt' ad.
I love how you say, “Isn’t it pretty”?
My grandmother used to play the song Kitten On the keys for me all the time. Wish you had grabbed that music. Brought back nice memories.
I made those same monkeys back in the 70’s when we use to do ceramics.
Cute turtle ash tray
Your antique stores are fantastic! I would love to visit and explore them
Loved those green plastic flamingo salt and pepper shakers. Great shopping trip
I lovedddddd the colorful chickens!
Had lots of fun! There was lots of great stuff. Too bad about the chips and cracks.):
This was a really fun shopping trip to watch.
I've got that Blenko style vase at 9:21 in blue, it's nice to see it in a shop!
Oh! I need that cake stand! I have the perfect top🥰
Right next to the aluminum powder dish there was a fenton silver crest bowl....I need that!
I love the “let’s go back in time and play cards”. I have a Akro Agate smoking set and I always make the same comment!
In the late 60's I was a teenager,my brother and I played bridge with my parents every Friday night. Mother belonged to a Wednesday afternoon bridge club, and at least once a week the neighborhood teens would play bridge also. Wonderful memories!
Oh Jeffrey!...You hurt me with the "Houston, we've got a problem"....That's my hometown....all my life. We do have tons of antique and vintage stores so we're not that bad.
The metal receipt spikes you got are neat and sale for a good bit
I have several of those powder dishes....I've never seen one like that. We have receipt keepers here, but Alex sold one in one of her lives and people went nuts! It went for an insane amount of money in her offer up. I want to say it went for over $50. Apparently some parts of the country don't have those.
Great video thanks you all 👏👏👏
We certainly have different tastes but I do enjoy the shopping experience with you. I'm in Evansville, so if you're in a nearby antique store and I see something I want thru your camera, it's a win-win.
I love the old photos.
Hiya..fyi in the 70's the little golden books were 3 for a dollar and the original ones were printed in Galt
Great haul. Look forward to your sale to see profit.
I like the chicken set! Real Kitchy!
That bowl is awesome
A really fun shopping video! The picture you liked so much, Jeffrey, is from the cover of the April,1934 issue of WOMAN'S WORLD and is by Gertrude Kay, a well known magazine and book illustrator. She has a very recognizable style. Loved the mid century glass bowl at the end! Barb, the glass candle holder looked very mid century Scandinavian modern.
The BUNNY BOOK!!!! My favorite!!!!
Totally understand seeing less of a market for get well cards but since it is a kitten and sewing i could see people wanting it.
It's called a deckle edge on the photo mat. Nice pick!
People living in the southwest would like the road runner pin. I think pins and brooches are coming back-at least I hope so as I am wearing a lot of them. Maybe I am trying to become a fashion setter which is a definite first! As always I love it when you and Barb shop together!
I hope they are coming back! I need to wear mine ...... I think I will wear even if not coming back lol !
Hi Cheryl....wear them and soon everyone will join us! Actually I get a lot of compliments for mine. At a thrift shop in Grand Rapids most of the pins and brooches are a dollar and I scarf them up and now have a respectable collection. I hope the shop doesn’t raise its prices. Have a great day wherever you are. I am in Texas for a month and other than friends all I want to do is go to the bins in Austin!......cheryl
I saw a “Jeffrey” egg last weekend and was so excited that I was going to buy it but the foot was broken 😩 it’s the first I’ve seen locally
Do you have any tshirts coming to your merch store? I didn't see any in there .
I think that cracked up man was President Howard Taft. I live in OH where he was from. Just a guess
Those chickens are awesome
Really like the easter cutouts & many of the other things. Where is this mall?
It is in Worden, IL.
Jeffery, you crack me up. 😂😂😂😂😂
The monkeys are ahhhhmazing!
I have a pretty good collection of the Jeannette Shell Pink Milk glass, about 45 pieces. My holy grail is the heavy bottom vase. In the 35 or so years I've collected it I've only seen 1 in the wild. It was cracked from top to bottom and they wanted $185 for it, about 25 years ago. The glass was made between 1957 and 1959.
Thank you for sharing
Ooh shamrock purse!!!!!
Way cool finds!!!!
People collect purple glass jeffrey. Its hard to find .
Oh, I love the cut outs
Oh to much for them
Cool place cool finds😎
I would like to go shopping with you guys. I think we would have a blast 🤠
I want that turtle for my daughter who collects turtles
Those needle things are actually an office product for keeping paper phone messages.
Or reciepts
My parents had those monkeys in the mid 70s. The came with tiny cigarettes that you lit and they looked like they were smoking. Probably not the safest things to have around your 7 and 10 year olds.
The tin for $16.99 with the handle is nice
i wish you were close to chicago so i can give you a few of the items i inherited a do not use.btw i love the monkeys
Jeffrey, years and years ago in the 70’s I used to go to a Doctor who had the greatest toilet seat! Someone had custom made him a clear acrylic toilet seat filled with old needles, syringes, and pills. There were so many sharps in there that it was intimidating to sit on! Unexpected, a little scary, and hilariously funny! What a fun doctor!
How about just "Our Horizons" ?
I just got the same siamese cat.
I would have bought the carved wooden mold under the blue book at 25:51 for $10. Maybe it's not live sale material but I could flip that online for $40+
I’ve been watching more of your older videos since i met you at George’s booth at extravaganza in Springfield Ohio. Is Barb a friend or family? Would love to shop with you!
💕the monkeys
26:04 Pay to Learn lol
