There really isn't a way to capture the musical esthetics, engineering, and the moxie it would take to creatively move this direction, and to put it into words to describe what Johnathan Wilson has made with his own hands and ears here. it really is remarkable! This is the sound of late 70's HI-FI in the studio, the pinnacle of the Analogue Sound. To simply make connections to obvious influence, doesn't do the work here in justice! It's a new life, and deserves to be relished by the people that came before and after the originators of the era's past... Why, because now you have the old and new... in fusion today! I know people who are in their 70's, and a few who are in their early 20's and everyone in between. All can take part in this sonic voyage in the now.... which already by comparison to the LP is the future since this song was tracked a while back. I say..... Thank you!
this song starts like an outtake from "ok computer" and continues with david gilmour's voice and guitar...a perfect mix beetween radiohead and pink floyd.
Though his influences ring, I think you would be hard pressed to find anything that sounds like this. It is almost like Jonathan the the result of those artist's intentions, a sort of chaos, primal urge, and rustic expression refined, aged to perfection. I think we have the next great American songwriter in our midst. I just hope enough people notice so he will stay.
jonathon wilson colabbed and performed as a multi instrumentalist on roger waters latest album.. which was produced by nigel godrich... so there u go... it has come full circle :)
Listen to Pink Floyd's album Obscured By Clouds. I think a few songs from that album more so than any other PF album sounds specifically like it was blended in with radiohead's Subterranean Homesick Alien.

Similar chord changes do not make it derivative. John Lennon got sued by Chuck Berry for lyrics from "You Can't Catch Me" in "Come Together". Influence is pointless to deny. An artist just goes with it. I heard a song today that had a melodic/harmonic/lyric lift from McCartney's"Band on the Run". I'm sure it was altogether intentional but I would not say the band lacked creativity. No one works in a vacuum. If that was the case, no one would have any language in common. Music is language.

I agree with you ! But, in fact I dont like Wilson's album and I still think that it's not interesting. For example, Connan Mockasin has created a new sound contrary to Jonathan Wilson
Killer music, I got to play with Jonathan when I was a teenager

Love the video. Beautiful! Great song too! I'm a big Pink Floyd fan. So can see the influence. Love it!
Beautiful stuff... This is one of the finest pieces of musical composition I've heard for decades. It came along just at the right moment in time.

this song starts like an outtake from "ok computer" and continues with david gilmour's voice and guitar...a perfect mix beetween radiohead and pink floyd.
I thought intro sounded much like Fearless from Pink Floyd.
picnic at hanging rock!
@TheDarktael.... Absolutely.
It's how I imagine the music you hear when you're travelling to heaven.

Sam Cottrell this accesses a primitive emotion. I love this song and JW

pink floyd meets radiohead in a crazy picnic, nice

Yes but I'd say the Fearless form album Meddle is the closest.
♥♥♥
Obscured by clouds.
samed 20 juillet les vieilles charrues in france :)))))))))))) cool!
Intro reminds me so much of Pink Floyd's Fearless. That is a good thing, FYI.
It's like Radiohead in their OK Computer era had a baby with Pink Floyd in their Dark Side of the Moon era.
This song really makes me think of Radioheads "Subterranean Homesick Alien" and a little Pink Floyd as well.
Johnny sure got some good influences

neil young x pink floyd = Jonathan Wilson
Så skal du smutte på roskilde festival i år og høre ham :)
Tak for info. Jeg fik faktisk en email om det i går..! Det bliver godt! :)
ahah this song has nearly the same beggining as radiohead "subterranean homesick alien" ... It's hard to be creative !!
❤❤❤
soooooooo deeeep remind me Syd Barrett for some reason
Pink Floyd vibes!
I hear pink floyd more in his song "lovestrong". But yeah, I get floydian vibes from alot of his music.
In case you didn´t hear, he´s playing with Roger Waters in his Us+Them Tour right now.
I’m so high right now idk who i’m typing this to
Google the lyrics to J.W's songs. It's amazing, what people think he's singing. lmao.
Like everyone else I'm thinking Subterranean Homesick Alien meets Pink Floyd .. wonderful, nonetheless

И Я люди глупы
Subterranean Homesick Alien.
et tu flottes.
a musica é boa, mais o clip ficou ruim
you don't know what you're talking about
paranoid android
Мододец❤❤❤
radiohead meets elliott smith
is the pink floyd style but with much less creativity
the guitar here reminds me to early 70s Gilmour and early 70s Peter Frampton... great music
