  • I brought the bikes with me to a family camping event at Wilson Lake State Park after seeing there were quite a few mountain bike trails there. I brought my Ibis Exie and Pivot Shuttle SL. Unfortunately, somehow my camera pre-set got messed up and it only recorded in 1080 and not 4k. Sorry about that!
The trails are super nice and fun. The weather was not. It was over 100F during each day we were there and the wind was cranked up as well so I opted to ride the Pivot Shuttle SL. The heat made it necessary to pack lots of water and the trails were still awesome. I especially liked riding along the water's edge and the trails are a nice mix of up and down, some chunk, some flow, and various types of natural features. There are not a lot of jumps if that's your thing.
I would say that the trails are mainly XC trails and provide a nice mix that is well worth checking out. The Epic/Switchgrass trail appears to be a main loop consisting of about 22.5 miles or so. I ran low on water and decided to cut it short due to the excessive heat warnings. I was hoping to get some drone footage but the weather just wouldn't cooperate very well.
I would recommend stopping by and checking out the trails if you're in the area. They have a lot of camping availability at the state park and there are also some cabins in the area. Most of the campsites provide easy access to the trails. The Wilson Lake State Park would be a great stopping point if you're on your way to/from the mountains out west. Pack in most of what you need as there's not a lot close by. We ate at the Tasting Room in Wilson and had some awesome burgers and there is also the Flyboy Brewery although they have limited hours and we were not able to catch them when they were open. Wilson Lake is a reservoir that is about 65' deep and the water was very comfortable and clean. The fishing is supposedly really good as well.
Again, I apologize for the settings error and lack of 4K recording! If you would, please hit that subscribe button in the lower right corner, hit the like button, and/or make a comment. Let me know if you have any questions and, most importantly, GET OUTSIDE!

I looked for that area on Trailforks, but nothing came up. How did you find out about it?

You might need the pay version of Trailforks. It's on MTB Project too though, which I think is still free. Thanks for watching!
