in this video I get my koi fry tank ready for a delivery of Adam byer koi fry
also I add some predator/parasite deterrent

pond dimensions 13f x 12ft 4ft deep
filters Diy wrighty style 4x barrel system
surface skimmer filtered through a sieve bag (will go to a diy sieve bakki shower at some point)
barrel 1 k1 static bed 75ltr k1 type media
barrel 2 k1 static bed 75ltr k1 type media
barrel 3 k1 and other random plastic media moving bed
barrel 4 static alfagrog and white pumice

You could get 4 upright post and add cross post at the top put some cheap Reed across the top to keep heron and pigeons away

🤣 I know she really makes me smile. I was going to put in screen that her name is nizmo everyone thinks I'm saying gizmo lol yes the Chag will be staying for sure I'll try to get some better footage next time . They seem to have grown overnight 😀

Love it, the ducks and your dog's reaction to them. You're getting really good growing these fry. I like how you con the big koi with food so they don't get bullied. Wait later on those agile smaller koi will steal food right in of the big koi's noses 🤣🤣🤣.

Nice, what's the best temperature to keep fry at.
Around 24°c is best mine went it at 18°c I'm slowly raising it to 24

yeah herons wont risk being injured by a duck protecting its young, I could never understand why people put fake herons next to there ponds, all it does is teach the fish that herons are ok, then there all confused as to how a heron cleared out there pond

24:48 What is the water temperature now? Is it possible to warm up there?
Hello mate the water temperature was 17°c when I put them in I will slowly raise it over the next week or so to about 24°c but I will have to do a bit of research first as it's my first time with small fry. Thanks for watching 👍
@@progressivepondkeeping 24 degrees is the preferred choice! Until you get there, you should restrain feeding to a point where they don't lose weight without overdoing it. Then, when it reaches 24°C, start feeding a ridiculous number of times and watch them as you gradually increase to 25°C and then 26°C to find out what the optimum temperature really is.
You can expect a great result！！！(◜◡◝)

@@progressivepondkeeping Too much time is never a good thing, even if too much haste can lead to failure. Gradually increase the temperature while allowing the fish to develop a sense of predation. Here is a video of one of our feeding techniques, although not of a fry KOI, in the process of developing the habit of wanting more and more food for their appetite. ruclips.net/video/D_GD8Cqv-m4/видео.html Then, when they are ready to digest them, we let them explode. My bag blocks up every 48 hours and stops the water going to the filter so I took it off mate
