Nice to see our little Spondon in action at Minffordd at 5:49. Very well filmed!
Great program
Looks like polar bear cab is short hahaha! Nice one!
i do like seeing videos from this event great stuff. I do like polar bear such a nice looking loco. so many unusual locos on display
When might this extravaganza happen again?
Robert Thompson sadly I have no idea, this event has only happened twice imagine they’ll do another in a few years
Is that yellow tanker looking thing a compressed air locomotive
Yes it is
polar bear looks like a thomas character waiting to happen
What are the blue uniforms worn by the fellas riding that speeder?
Rascona Railfanning I’m going to guess you mean the gentleman in the trench coats. I believe it’s a french(?) military uniform of sorts although I don’t know for sure
Old French military/police uniforms
what was the name of that dark purple engine with the strange funnel?
Jordan Varkonda As far as I’m aware it was built by Decauville, however I don’t know what class it is.
That would be Chuquitanta. It was built by Coulliet, a Belgian locomotive manufacturer, in 1885 and sold to Decauville as locomotive Number 36.
Some weird ( pointless ) contraptions ! i'd be too embarrassed to be anywhere near that mobile air tank ! Just quirkiness for quirkinesses sake !
The compressed air engine was for use underground where steam power would choke the workforce
