I was lucky enough to see Matt in concert many times. He used variety of guitars. One he was using a BC Rich Mockingbird and I called him out. "YOU can't play the blues on that!" He laughed and said, "Sure is pretty though..." Such a fun and good natured guy. Legendary.
Great video--never seen one of those before. Here's what I found on the brands they build for: Ibanez, Parkwood, Squier, G&L Tribute series are among the most well-known brands they build. Recently, small companies known for extremely high quality (and high-priced) guitars have begun contracting Cort to produce budget line models.
I’ve owned a few Corts over the years, but the MGM was my favourite. A very talented friend of mine from Kenya now looks after it and plays it like it deserves.
Got the mgm-1 my self. Bought it 17 years ago and been my favorite guitar since. I play everything from zztop to lamb of god and metalcore on it. And it handle great 🤘
I've had a cort m500 from 2002 and it's my favorite out of all my guitars. So much soul in that one it's the best guitar I've ever played like seeing an old friend she always keeps it chugging along
Nice show and tell Dane of an unusual and very good looking signature guitar. Those Indonesian Cort Guitars are often very well finished. I've a 2012 ICS vintage modified Squier strat with the 1970's aged white paint job and black SD designed pups / large headstock that is a real great player. Would like to get my hands on one of those MGM Corts if one shows up.
Just got one today in a stock and like new condition for £120. Amazing guitar. This one has been modded. I can see the pots and the selector being different. Also mine was made in Indonesia (must be one of the very last few that Cort constructed in 2007).
Hey guys, I'm a big MGM fan. His work with Memphis Slim and his three solo albums are what you want to hear and they're on You Tube. I've wanted to try one of these guitars. Thanks for posting, God bless stay safe Rock on and on 🙏😷🎶❗👀
Those are not the stock MM pickups, looks like DiMarzio's. Stock pickups don't sound that thin. Those sound like higher gain ceramic pickups. Stock pickups have flat/screw pole pieces.
My brother have that baby for about 17 years and original pickups are Mightymite and they sounds fine.Present he decided to change pickups for Seymour Duncan and the guitar sounds more powerful and bright than ever. It's very playable and versatile instrument for all kind od music.Excellent job Cort

Peruse reverb, ebay and GC's used stuff. I've gotten two now (dumb enough to resell the first one) for about $375 each, shipped. They are a GREAT guitar at that price. Pickups are different enough vs. a typical gibson type humbucker (brighter and more bluesy on the neck) that it's worth having.
Matt murphy was best known as memphis slims right hand man. Well known in europe where they toured together for years. Tune that guitar man...you should have plugged that thing into a twin reverb.....but whatever...nice
Great demo!’Well now I have number 2 of the 75 ever made out there of the limited run! IMe I got extremely lucky on a trade offer of a lifetime And I knew nothing about it nor had no clue on what I was about to hear about its history an the condition until he got here and popped the case keep in mind!! Being from Chicago originally, I've seen him a few times, Eric Johnson,Buddy Guy going way back.Nice Guitar 🎸 I have to back and see how you got it? Price? Cool 👍
If you shop around, you can find decent stock versions of MGM-1s or whatever they call them for about $350-$400 shipped. Lots of people asking more at any given time, but they don't sell at that and you'll never get your money back if you buy one higher. Great guitars for the price.
Got one, very nicely made Korean guitar. Gets a bad rep sometimes because the body is Agathis and people on utube are like stupid sheep. It's not bad wood if prepared properly, duh, same with Mahog. Very abundunt so less expensive, and if your one of those that think wood doesn't effect electric sound it don't matter anyway. Rite now I have humbuck sized P-90's in it n sounds great. PRS se245's from an older Santana se also sounded extremely good, Has a full 1/2 Maple cap with quilt vaneer. I have a R8, some US made PRS's so I do know a good guitar, these really are far above not bad.

Sounds great,I want a MGM CORT. Also have a CORT CR300 with a real plain maple top-- solid and not veneer at the price of $549
Very undervalued guitars, I have 5 of them in different colors.
Mine will be here Friday!
He played an SG in the Blues Brothers! 🙂🎼🎸
In the second Blues Brothers movie Matt played this guitar, same color, I’ve seen 4 different colors.
He played a hammer before the show and it had the same body shape as his custom model. 🤓
