I read somewhere that the 'splash' is a product of how fast the plant grows. I guess the spots are sort of like air bubbles made up of the outer layer of the leaves. It supports your idea that the more sun they get (= the faster they grow), the more 'splash' you get on the leaves.
ooh love this video! I'm still obsessed with my mathilde. One vine is very splashy and the other one is almost all solid green. they're in the same pot and had the same seller. it's very interesting how one plant can look so different!
Right???! From my experience, more splash will show up if more light is provided for the plant, especially when new leaves are coming out. Splash or not, I love them all! ❤❤❤ Thank you for your support!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
After watching one of your videos I ordered 2 Hoyas from giardiasis. Now I need to learn about their care!mosr were sold out but at least I found a couple. Feeling happy 😆
I recommend leave the plants in their original pots and medium until they're acclimated to your environment, unless there are signs of infections or pests.
For your melifua plants I think the first one is Hoya meliflua ssp meliflua and the second one is Hoya meliflua ssp fraterna. The leaves are very different because they are two different subspecies of melifua. :)
@@amandalaw7131 what potting media do you use for it? and do you wait for its leaves to soften before watering? I just bought one and I need some care tips🙏🏻💛
I use the bark mix I discussed in my other video. Feel free to check it out. I do not recommend wait til the leaves to get soft to water, as it can cause permanent damage to the root system. Watering frequency depends on your own growing environment. I recommend using a moisture meter. I normally wait til the meter hits a 2 or 3 before watering
Beautiful collection of rare Hoyas. Not seen by me before. Thanks young lady. Love your enthusiasm for Hoyas.
