Well, damn. I'm all out of your videos. Guess I'll have to wait for YT to recommend me more as you make them. Thanks for all the valuable knowledge. You have a really good channel and I like your teaching style.
This tutorial is amazing! You’ve explained the topic perfectly, step by step. It’s exactly what I was looking for, especially when thinking about creating clean AE music animations. Thank you!
Thank you for this, I used this in a video on my channel called Halo Heartbeat. I used the method but on a different effect. You're videos are great and I plan on purchasing your class at some point when I have time. Again, awesome content.
This was super helpful!! I have a question regarding the clamp idea. Let's say I have my visuals reacting to the kick drum of a track, is there a way to not just clamp the scale min/max but also have it smooth out the decay of each hit? Basically every time the kick hits, the visuals react suddenly. I'm wondering if there's a way of adding some time expression or something to soften the effect so it's not so immediate, or so the scale can gradually reduce back down over the course of ~1 sec instead of being super fast. I thought about adding some reverb to the kick to give the audio some more information as a roundabout way of having it trail off.
@@umershye2931 hey, there may be a more elegant solution with an expression but in a pinch I ended up using an isolated stem of the kick audio with a bunch of extra reverb on the tail of each hit in order to add the taper I needed. Muted that and just had the actual final mix turned on for the export.
Great tutorial Nick! Just one dumb question... Can I make this a part of OBS so that I can have this graphic active when I'm speaking or playing any other music during a live stream?
Sounds like a Longshot, but I wish someone would make a video of these for multiple different kinds of songs, but also I should just learn more codes and how to manipulate after effects better, just some songs need extra editing
Hi Nick, thank you for this tutorial :) I'm wondering, if you would know or give me a hint, how to accomplish a custom "stroboscope" effect, reacting to music. All clear to me with "Convert audio to keyframes" and linking to a value. But is it possible (with AE expressions) to play custom clip at certain waveform peaks at certain timeline positions? That clip would be lets say "white solid" with a "fade in - fade out effect", but custom length and nonlinear speed. Thank you ;)
is it posible to use this reacting to a live music instead of prerecorded track?...somehow hookig up a mic to a program and using it for live concert visuals, or you would recommend other software for that?
hi i've tried this expression. But shows an error msg which is "one argument to mu(),ust be a scalar". how to solve this issue. temp = thisComp.layer("Audio Amplitude").effect("Both Channels")("Slider"); [temp, temp]/6*[50,50]
I have 2 objects and 2 audios, I want to make them react only to one audio but they are reacting to bought of them, renaming the audios layers didn't work...does anybody know what to do?
@@motionbynick Hi Nick!can you help?why my logo goes beyond canvas when reacting to audio?how to scale it properly after i set expression to scale!please help!thanks
Gotta hate all these "If you don't know then go watch this video" crap but then again, if you're a total beginner maybe this vid isn't for you. But still, hate it because it's so lazy.
👇 clamp expression used in this video 👇
temp = thisComp.layer("Audio Amplitude").effect("Both Channels")("Slider");
temp = clamp(temp, min, max);
[temp, temp, temp]
emm... if i have scale kayframes 0, 0, 0 to 120, 120, 120 then 100, 100, 100. How to combine with audio?
I solve this with null object.
Hey I have a real important question. Can I use my custom made audio visualiser in a live stream
hmm.. mine stops reacting to the audio when I add the clamp line. I copied and pasted it too.
holy crap you just solved so many issues I ran into editing our first lyric video. That time*2+ alone was worth the click. Thanks so much dude!
Audio reactive visuals are so fun. It's kinda like seeing the music in real time.
I mean, you can’t see music at all

you could use a wave warp effect or zig zag

Why not? The only issue would be streaming the music (DMCA rules)
