This video's horrible. It doesn't list even half the medications available out there. I'm starting on something called Strattera and I just went to my doctor for it, no psychiatrist involved and it's MUCH cheaper. There are other inexpensive non-stimulant meds that can help a lot.

I got diagnosed with ADHD since my teenage, used ADHD medications for years. I spent my whole life fighting ADHD. Also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

From my experience it really works excellently! It doesnt even need to be a full hit. With potent shrooms 2-3 small ones will still make a clear difference. It will be a few hour cosy rumbling moment around rest time, but afterwards its just calm and you feel amazing and gain your freedom. Psilocybin is different dudes, its the only "treatment" I would recommend to someone who genuinely wants to get better. There is no addiction, withdrawal, or negative side effects. It's just pure healing., far more effective than any anti-depressant. You can thank me later

I was horrifically depressed since childhood. It was relentless. I assumed it would ultimately end me somehow. About twelve years ago I randomly accepted the offer from a friend of a few doses of mushrooms. I did them two consecutive nights alone. First night was pretty mild. The second night? Wow. I saw my depression from every angle, realized much. Next day: depression totally gone. Never came back, never coming back. It's like it's a forest far away I can remember, and could probably find again with enough effort, but it has zero impact on anything in my life or mind. They honestly saved my life and improved it immensely. I never did them again, either. I wish there was a good, organized way to administer them to people who would benefit from them.

I have also been drinking coffee since I was about 8. I didn’t realize I had adhd. The adults in my life just knew I liked the taste of coffee and let me have some. It was to where even teachers let me drink coffee in high school. I had no idea coffee was helping me focus as it’s always been a part of my life. I just felt like my lack of focus without it was because I was “addicted”. It eventually got to the point where coffee wasn’t enough and my job and life has been really hard to keep up with. Finally had a psychiatrist prescribe meds at 38 years old and I wonder where my life could have been if my parents decided to put me on medication. Maybe I wouldn't have dropped out of college my first go at it, got better GPA, been willing to listen better, ect. There are tons parents who want to go the all natural way with their kids. As a middle age male who was in this boat I wish my parents would have made the choice to medicate. Maybe I wouldn't have fallen in to depression, been more socially cognitive, and had less many challenges in my way. We don't live in a world of rainbows and butterflies, its a cruel world and I say give everyone the best chance they can have vs taking a chance.

      Hey Adam,
I sadly think the same about my life right now. I'm 23 and in the fifth semester of my economics studies. I can't do shit anymore, literally. I've started studying economics in 2019, after a week I've stopped studying just to start studying the same topic a year after that. Since then I haven't reached anything in life, day to day I struggle with basic tasks and always have the fact in my mind that I have to do 19124932 things for uni and it stresses me so much that I don't do anything at all. Literally, I just scroll through youtube while having all of these tasks in the back of my head, like cleaning my apartment, eating properly, drinking, studying, I can't do this shit anymore. I'll have a ADHD test in 10 days. I don't wanna stop studying, I have thought about this a lot of times, but I will not do shit either with anything else I start, doesn't matter if its an apprenticeship or a new topic to study.

that helped me tremendously in trying to stay focused, I learned to relax and stay half focused it's a great way to learn and live with no medication for me (maybe for you to or your kid).
I sometimes do have extreme hyper activeness but I try to do it when it is in the right in environment (not at work or important serious places).
not that you can't be hyper and giggly but do it when it's the right time.

Im happy this worked for you but not everyone has the same symptoms and can control their symptoms to that degree though, if that were the case I wouldn't be on my phone right now typing this to you right now because I'd have been out of bed 4 hours ago and doing something I actually was supposed to do today like eat food or shower but my executive dysfunction is so shot even though I have the desire I deeply struggle to fulfil it. I am the inattentive type of ADHD, when I try to do anything I am not hyperfixated on or interested in I zone out and daydream uncontrollably, everything is a distraction so I half ass things and cut corners just so it's done rather than take the time to make it done easily. I can barely even tidy my room in a timely manner because I have no sense of time, what 5 minutes to me could be 30 minutes or what feels like an hour could be 20 minutes so I'm always running around stressing and late for tasks and events... and when I'm actually motivated to make my bed once in a while it has to be inconveniently at 11 at night when I should be sleeping.

Don't give up. Remind your parents an ADHD evaluation will only provide you with some information about how your brain works and what is really causing the problem. Then you'll know what kind of tools to put in your toolbox to make your engine (brain) work best... you can also talk with a school counselor to see if they will back you (not everyone is helpful but it's them, not you, so if they don't help, find someone else). Maybe even a trusted teacher you like?
There is also a RUclips channel: how to ADHD
Between this and the counselor, it should help you get the language you need to get the correct help.
I'm 43, and just got diagnosed last year. I'm super glad I got diagnosed. It's a process and took more time than one would think, but looking back, I'm glad it's not a rush diagnosis, so I have trust in the diagnosis and 100% confidence of what it is and that it's not something else.
Along the way, I learned a lot, and that's also helped a lot. Even being on meds (which helps so much) I still have to use strategies to be able to get work done.
I'm also meeting with a cognitive therapist... she's helped me work through stopping over scheduling myself or trying to do too much at night. Making routines, getting to work on time and helped me see some things I'm good at too, that I hadn't given myself credit for. I won't need to many more sessions with her. They're kind of like brainstorming sessions. Then I try what we come up with the next 2 weeks, make notes, improvement & even talk to wise friends and keep tweeking it. And then meet her 2 weeks later to let her know how it went and what's still a challenge for me. It's really nice to have that person 100% devoted to that goal.
      I hope this helps 🙏🙏

I take medication for it, but I don't know if its just making me more sleepy so I can focus and calm down, and stop running all over the place with 100% energy or actually helping my ADHD. I'm worried because I have to keep getting the dose raised as its not working much. It's also making me worried because the higher the dose- the worse my appetite gets. It's gone to the point where I've been so focused on the computer that I don't even realize I am hungry and end up getting so hungry that I starve and get sick, even over-heat. This focused thing isn't the pill either. It's happened before this. I have ADHD but its like when I am doing something I like/am interested in I get so focused and forget everything else. Sometimes I even forget I'm standing up and start rocking back and forth like I always do in chairs. My ADHD isn't too bad but the pills are making my eating worse and it's not getting better. I am proud of it, though. Just not the school part. I get absolutely 0 work done unless I'm forced to, and I get distracted all the time. Just like when I posted this comment; School is going on behind the scenes.

But i don't have the bad side effects with this med (Evekeo) that I had with Ritalin, Focalin, and Dexydrine. All curb my appetite somewhat which for me is a positive because i was binge eating somewhat otherwise. But setting timers and alarms to remind you to eat might help etc. The first 3 made me feel so sleepy or almost like I was drunk etc.

I wanna get on adhd medication, got diagnosed when i was 6. but my parents didn’t want to medicate me, maybe it was a smart decision. But i got depressed as a child because students and teachers would bully me and call me stupid for not being able to pay attention in class, corny back story.
But this depression sadly led me to do drugs and adiction came with it. I’m scared that if i start taking adhd medication that i will start abusing it. ive tried ritalin, concerta from my previous to still active years of smoking driking and snorting shit. and the shit works but i havent tried it enough to see a impact on my life, Should i actually try to get a perscripton? Sorry for my bad english i got adhd😂
edit: if someone has a simmilar expirence and are on adhd medications, how does it affect your life? do they make you more likley to gain self control or do they spiral you into withdrawls in the long term?

This seems more like an advert than information. How can you make a video on personality altering drugs and not mention any of the side effects or negatives? There are laws in Europe that prevent drug companies lobbying doctors directly - that doesn’t seem to exist in the US. It’s important to give a balanced medical analysis otherwise you will end up encouraging prescription of hardcore stimulants to people who really don’t need any and creating a lifelong drug dependant society. There is always a place for medication but it needs to be used correctly and not because someone is different or inconvenient.

    • @honkhonk8009
      @honkhonk8009 3 года назад

Because its on medication in general. The side effects are hella different for each of the individual pills.
Also if your advertising medicine, your legally required even in the US to list side effects. This isnt an advertisement most likely. If it is, they gonna get a lawsuit pretty soon.

The best way to control is it is through food. Eat more vegetables and whole grains. Avoid processed foods and sugars. Our brains are firing on all cylinders to this gives it some more room. This gave me a huge boost over years... I am 27 now. Also try to exercise 1 hour per day.
