OMG 5 YEARS!?? Watching your journey is so inspiring.... you are the blueprint for my loc count (265) & 2 pt rotation. Thank you for sharing your beautiful hair. HAPPY LOCAVERSARY!🫶🏽💜🎉
thank you! I'm so happy my content has been helpful 🫶🏽
@@NapsAreTheNewBlack What kind of steamer do you use?
Texture and density are key to picking a blueprint.
Texture and density are key to picking a blueprint.
You are absolutely the best example of loc starting and maintaining that I have ever seen on RUclips. Your routine is simple and your locs are beautiful. I started my microlocks about 2 months ago using interlocking method and I let a loctition start them for me. I tried starting them myself over the years and was never successful. So for now I go every 6 to 7 weeks. And I try to wash weekly.
They do a three point rotation on my hair. And I feels great after each retie….. well I have only had one so far.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIVE YEARS🎉😊❤
aww thank you 🥺❤️ and congratulations on taking the leap!
You killed it. You've taken good care of your hair and the results are telling
thanks!
Just plain GORGEOUS. I'm 7 years in with waist length sisterlocs that I've maintained myself for 6 years. I always break my reties into several sessions to keep my arms from being numb for a week😂
Wishing you much success in your career after medical school.
thank you! and waist length is my goal length!! Idk if it will happen by year 7, but hopefully by year 8 ❤️
You were my inspiration and the video I sent to my aunt to show what I wanted my starter locs to look like. I'll be 2 years in November. Happy 5 years to you and good luck in medical school!
Happy almost 2 years!! I hope you love your locs 😊
Thank you for sharing! Your locs are GORGEOUS!! You are one of the microloc ladies I started watching two years ago and now my microlocs are 18 months and counting. I started them myself with braidlocs and I maintain them myself with 4 pt rotation. You're an inspiration! ✌🏾💜
thats awesome! I didn't have the density for braidlocs, but they are such a pretty and unique look for starter locs
I definitely miss the puff stage where the locs stick out and look slightly wild in a good way 😂 now they all fall down and look flat 😢
yes the frizzy stage is soo slept on! but while gravity may have stolen our puff, the length makes for a very full bun. You win some, you lose some 😂❤️
Yes to the year 5 hair flip! We have the same locaversary, I just completed my firsr year! It's also my birthday so I won't lose track.
So smart to lock up on your birthday!
Love it! Congrats on final year of medical school!🙌🏽 your locs look beautiful as usual. Love the dramatic hair flip to introduce year five!😍.
thanks!!
Such beautiful locs ❤
The into to that 5th year is 🔥🔥🔥
thank you!
I am in awe❤ I will be installing my locs next month and I hope mines are just as beautiful as yours 😊
Thank you so much! I hope you love your set! ❤️
your locs are perfection. your locs inspired me to loc. i had to cut mine due to various reasons, but once I start regrowing my hair, I will be locking again at a larger microloc size
My loc crush. You are the reason I started my diy microlocs (braidlocs) 4 years ago.
that's amazing!! I hope you love your locs 🫶🏽
I started my loc journey since April of this year, it's been 5 months now and I am loving it.
the first year is truly like no other. I hope you enjoy your journey ❤️
@@NapsAreTheNewBlack thank you
Happy Locversary!!!
Can't believe I share the same date with you, though an year behind. I remember watching your DIY clips religiously before, during and after starting mine. All the best!!!
-I've dyed twice, I've also noticed my ends becoming looser and pieces of my hair strands (from the ends mostly) coming off while washing for a while then it stops. I hate it but trying my best to look after it, even treat it, but i don't regret dyeing it.
yep! Loose hair sheds. I figured that the shed hairs after dying were already stuck in the loc and were coming out now that my ends were curly.
@@NapsAreTheNewBlack Also, when you dye black, does it wash off abit everytime you wash? Atleast in the first weeks?
I didn't have that issue
Congrats on it all: 5 years loc'd, making it to the last year of med school, and heading towards residency!!
You're one of few loc heads that I follow who keeps a simple hair regimen like me. You're also right about enjoying the stages. I love having long locs most days and I miss things my hair could do when it was shorter. Time surely flies because I hit 10 years loc'd in September myself.
Anyway, thanks for the update and continued good luck to you on everything!
@@claudialusk116 thank you!! Im hoping to make it to that 10 year mark 🤞🏽 you have really been true to the lifestyle!
@NapsAreTheNewBlack Congratulations!🎉 You were definitely one of my inspirations. I toyed with the idea for a looooong time! Been following/watching your videos and finally took the plunge. I am one week in today 😂
That is awesome! glad to finally have you in the loc fam ❤️
Your locs are beautiful, and I love that you, too, are 5 years DIY! My locs are a little over 2 years old. I have 259 locs, and I use 2 point rotation every 10 to 12 weeks, with retwist for special occasions. I started with 325, but that was too much for me. I hope my locs look like yours in the next 4 years. I cut an inch off earlier this year, but I'm trying to stop cutting it. Thanks for sharing your journey. It helped me a lot. I never plan to pay someone to do my hair... rather travel with that money 😂
Yess! Im so happy to hear that your loc journey is going well 🫶🏽
Hey sis. It’s so refreshing seeing your beautiful face again. Your hair locs amazing. The growth is amazing…and it’s still beautiful just like you. 5 years came so quickly. I have about 265 microlocs….my hair is super thick and fluffy…I’m grateful for every stage. I have taken pictures from 4 weeks to now at almost 3 years…and I look back at day 1 and I laugh because I would never have imagined that the caterpillars would have become these beautiful butterflies…it’s gone beyond my expectations 🙏🏾and I’m excited for the upcoming years. You are beautiful sis. God bless you and the family ❤❤🤎🤎🙏🏾🖤
im so glad to hear that you love your locs!! 3 years is super solid.
Congrats on your 5 yrs loc’d🎉 Your locs are awesome. The fact you did them all yourself makes it even cooler😍
Thank you!
Congrats. I've been following you for a while now. I love how slender your locs are. I am comparing, and mine still look like natural hair. 😅
please cherish that volume you still have!
I'm loving the layout of your channel and the message‼️ You're encouraging me🙏🏽 I'm subscribing right now ok ♥️
aww thank you 🥰
🎉🎉HAPPY LOC-A-VERSARY!!!! Your hair still looks healthy and gorgeous! 😍
thanks 🥰
Happy Locversary!!! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the journey so far. I will watch later. Love your hair btw.
Thank you!
Hey hair crush! I’ve started maintaining my own sisterlocks and now I’m going to try the 2 point rotation because the 4 point gets me down sometimes😂. Your locks are beautiful as always!
LOL, You got this! keep it simple ❤️
Just beautiful inside and out!!! Such good motivation to continue my loc journey🫶🏾🌹
aww thank you ❤️
Congratulations on reaching 5 years! You're definitely one of my inspirations. Had I followed more closely I might have kept my first set (280ish) because I thought this result had to be started with over 400 locs. My current set is 350 ish and just past 2 years in I'm enjoying every step (except self reties but we getting there).
Cheering you on through Med School from afar!!
aww thank you!! and yes loc number is less important than hair density. my hair isnt very dense so 260 is micro on me, when it would be traditional size on someone with thicker hair.
beautiful locs ive been loc’d for 3 years and i struggle with keeping them moisturized. I will definitely try what you said ❤️ thank you
yes steam is my bestt friend. let me know if it makes a difference!
I love how simple and consistent your routine is, which is probably why your locs look so healthy! My question is about your diet, which affects hair, but no one really talks about. Do you follow a particular diet? Do you exercise?
I am pescatarian and I usually exercise, but fell off the wagon this year to study for my licensing exam and prepare to apply to residency. I just started regularly exercising again a few weeks ago!
Thank you for the update
Congrats! You and your locs have aways and been gorgeous.
Where are you on your medicine journey? I just applied to residencies and am enjoying the relative chill of M4 year!
I love this song! Your locs too!
You just have this glow. It’s really beautiful!
Hi from Barcelona ❤i watched you when you started, the progress is🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉!
Thank you for sharing! I’ve been following you for 2 yrs now.
nice! I hope you stick around 🤝🏽
Your loc-iversary is my birthday!🎉
aww happy belated birthday!
Absolutely stunning ❤
Thank you! 😊
happy locaversaryyyy!!! wow your locs look absolutely stunning!! cant wait to see what my 5 yrs will look like!
My question would be how you trim your locs...i believe u did show in a video before but i cant find it lol
Thanks! I have an instagram reel showing how I trim them. but theres no big secret i just cut the stragglers that stick out beyond the rest of the hair to keep it even. i usually trim once a year
@@NapsAreTheNewBlack ok ill check it out...do you pull all the hair to the front and trim?
Your hair looks healthy and AMAZING!
thank you!
Georgeous 🔥😍
Also love the channel name. I like the information. I’m on my second loc journey.
Yay!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Very Nice 🎉
Congrats! You and your locs have aways and been gorgeous.
Where are you on your medicine journey? I just applied to residencies and am enjoying the relative chill of M4 year!
Edit: congrats on applying to residencies!!! I hope you get your #1 program!
thank you! Good luck to you too. I'm also enjoying the slower pace of M4 lol. I had a rough summer of step 2 dedicated and SubI's back to back, so right now I feel like im in heaven haha
The music!
Congrats 🎉. I’ll be 5 years October 6th.
Nice!! happy to see others in it for the long haul lol
Watching this again, while doing a retightening. I do a different section each day.
Your locs look great! You said you use a leave in conditioner. Do you actually leave it in your hair or do you rinse it out?
thanks! And I leave it in. I dont use much and its very watery so it doesn't leave residue that can't be easily washed out
Beautiful!!!
Where is your top from? Also, beautiful locs.
Thanks! Its a dress from a street vendor in Bali
Dyeing is a chemical process so it will slightly loosen the curl pattern
yeah it definitely loosened my ends a bit. Similar to how henna used to affect my hair
What type of hair you have and what made you decide to start with the twist as opposed to sister locks or braidlocs?
type 4b/c and i couldn't afford sisterlocks. I liked twists over braids bc the braid pattern can linger for 5+ years, while the twist pattern fades faster and gets puffier/fuller in the beginning.
@@NapsAreTheNewBlack Thank you for answering. I asked because I'm considering locs and when I asked for consultation they're suggesting braidlocs because of my hair type which is 3C. I also have high density and I wet my hair alot so the twist would not be suitable for me. Your hair is so beautiful!
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Beautiful 🥰
thank you!
I'm observed 😍
How do you get your music?
from creator music! This one was only $0.99 to use
What did you use to color your hair?
creme of nature box dye. I linked the video with the details to this video I believe!
Color won’t do as much damage to hair in its natural stage as long as you deep condition and keep moisture and protein levels. I wouldn’t color more than twice a year.
Gorgeous eyes and pretty eyes.🍀
Thank you! 😊
❤❤❤
Very beautiful
thank you ☺️
All color does some damage. It has to damage to bring out the color. The lighter the color, the more damage. You can try and condition to mitigate damage. If you have fine low density hair, I dont reckomend color.
I was pointing out that the color didn't damaged my overall set of locs. Like I didn't have any of them break off/fall out. I think the fun of locs is that they can take a little more damage than loose natural hair and still be okay. My loose hair would have fallen out if I dyed it and proceeded to only moisturize once/week, but my locs are still growing and thriving on that routine.
❤❤❤
