That's bad advice. It does more damage, but you should not *only* use it after you hack someone. This was a good use of virus, as OP was able to get more damage off with it even though he couldn't hack the enemy. Also, using virus before attacking or hacking will give an enemy less of a chance to react to your attack, leaving you with an easier kill in some circumstances.
