This video did a good job as it breaks down the SWOT and using Tesla as an example to help viewers to understand. Strength is determined by what the organization is strong at. Weakness show what the organization needs to work on for the improvement. This means the competitor has advantage over your company. Opportunities is where the organization has the possibility to do something for their advantage. Threats are things that can cause damage to the organization. It’s important for the organization to understand how to conduct a SWOT analysis to help them grow and compete with their competitors.
I enjoyed this breakdown of the Swot analysis for Tesla. I liked how they had Elon Musk as their strength. It also showed how a swot analysis should be done. It is very detailed and breakdowns everything that is connected tot this weakness or strength.
Great video, just have a few comments :-) If you decide to make a SWOT-analysis, then know how to use it correctly. When looking at Strengths and Weaknesses, you have to look at the strengths and weaknesses of Tesla as a company and nothing else. When you then look at the Opportunities and Threads you have to look at the outside factors. S & W = Internal strength and weaknesses O & T = External strengths and weakensses S&W are often a result of a financial analysis along with a value chain analysis. O & T are often a result of a PESTEL analysis along with Porters Five Forces Otherwise very nice work, you had some good points. I would've just put some of the different points in another category :-)
Awesome video, 365 Careers, absolutely awesome. I got a lot out of it in terms of helping my family and our family-businesses. What you say at 7:59 forward really resonated with me most for whatever reasons, "Build up on what was attempted before."
it would be nice to see this updated. Things really changed for them beginning the 3rd quarter of 2019 - and "no more free supercharger miles, unless you have a referral".
It is really interesting to see this analysis of Tesla. The company has such a huge influence on society through it's international success and multiple layers of business throughout the globe. Explaining the company as a story teller is true and I had never perceived it as such until seeing the video. The breakdown of the biggest components the company has to offer also provided insight of how they have reached the level of success as they have. I am aware that there is no perfect company model and that there is always trial and error in every business, but Tesla has a strong model. It is very interesting seeing the weaknesses and threats for Tesla, and how they continuously find creative ways to stand out. I am excited to see the company continue to grow and reach new levels of innovation.
The car is overpriced in 76% of the market. The damage they are causing to the electric grid. The water drops past the hover dam. The two electric plants shut down in west PA based on the extra EPA restrictions. This covers 5 counties in PA. They will not be able to charge the car. It takes fuel to produce electricity. The car caught on fire at mile marker 197 in PA I80 took 3 times the water trucks to put it out The other stories of customer services following thought to fix the car after the vehicle reached 100,000 miles. It takes more time to charge the car than it does to fuel vehicles. The disposal of batteries that cost 30k to replace will have a high impact on the environment.
I think this is a very good SWOT analysis of Tesla. Tesla is certainly one of the greatest companies in the world and will undoubtedly be around for a very long time. One point that caught my attention was the potential threats for Tesla. Tesla is certainly ahead of the curve when it comes to their electric vehicles. They are efficient, comfortable, and extremely advanced. However, in recent years many other major motor companies have decided to make the switch to all electric vehicles. Companies like Ford and Dodge have decided that in the future a majority of their cars will be electric. This obviously a very serious threat for Tesla because both of these automakers are some of the biggest and most historic companies ever. They have a long established tradition of success in the automative industry, and will most definitely bring competition to Tesla. However, even with other major companies deciding to make the switch to electric vehicles, Tesla still has a major advantage. Tesla is constantly remodeling and adding new cars to their fleet. This gives them an opportunity to expand into different areas of the automative industry, while also being considered the first and best when it comes to electric vehicles.
In this video, the lecturer goes over a SWOT analysis of Tesla and what a SWOT analysis is. At the start of the video, the lecturer goes over the general premise of a SWOT analysis, describing how it is a technique for assessing the four areas of business it covers. A SWOT analysis covers the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities for growth and threats for the future of the business. First a SWOT assesses the strengths of a particular business or organization. In this step, those analyzing a business must evaluate what that business does well at and explain why in which it does so well. Second, the analysis goes over the overall weaknesses of the business or organization. During this process, it is important for those assessing the business or organization to discern what that business isn’t good at. After which, begins the next step, Opportunites for the future. In this stage of the analysis, those assessing the business or organization need to think of ways that the company will succeed in the future. By doing so they can think of new ways to help grow the business or organization. Finally it comes down to assessing threats to the business of organization. By properly identifying threats a business or organization can better prepare for incoming situations.
The video gives a great overview of the strengths and weaknesses through a SWOT analysis for Tesla. The analysis gives the audience the opportunity to gauge the overall business model of the brand that Elon Musk had created. Musk created a successful brand/model with all forward-thinking. He took a leap of faith into something that had not been done. He provided a good narrative and the understanding that Tesla was built with the understanding of providing a unique driver experience to the consumer, rather than looking at what would drive revenue. One example of strength and weakness, which I found was Elon Musk as a strength and weakness in the overall SWOT. Strength As we learned through this SWOT, the strong brand recognition is not only Tesla but Elon Musk as himself. The company and its mission help provide the narrative as part of their strength, there is more than a purpose of just selling another car, there is the purpose to preserve the global environment. Weakness The weakness shared was the concerns of Elon Musk and his attention being stretched through various companies that he is part of, as well as his judgment when it came to making decisions. There were also the threats of competitors and how that would affect Tesla as other car companies would start to offer similar vehicles. Overall, I found this video very comprehensive with great concrete examples of a SWOT analysis. This example is how a SWOT should be done because its focus was all-encompassing.
This video did a great job at breaking down and explaining the elements of a SWOT analysis. Everyone knows the names Elon Musk and Tesla, but not a lot of people know what they have gone through to get to where they are now. First off, I don’t think the strengths were a surprise. Musk is known by people who don’t even care about technology or cars because he is so good at utilizing social media and has even been on Saturday Night Live and Joe Rogan’s podcast. Also, everyone knows the Tesla brand as a luxury car that they can feel good driving because of their effect on emissions. The weaknesses, however, were surprising. It was interesting to learn how Tesla’s mission is minimizing profit margins. You would also think that more successful businesses mean more money; but not if your CEO’s attention is so divided. The opportunities and treats go hand in hand. Being a trailblazer in the electric vehicle industry takes on both. All signs point to favorable growth in the demand for electric cars, but that also means well established car brands like Ford and Toyota will compete. I still predict Tesla will lead the way and cement itself as a leader in the luxury, electric car industry.
Very nice analysis of Tesla's SWOT! As mentioned by other people and in this video, everyone knows who Elon Musk is and that is an extreme strength, because he is always being talked about. Some people might look at his popularity as a weakness since his opinions and thoughts aren't always agreed upon by the public. When performing a SWOT analysis, I do believe all the parts are important, but I really like to focus on the opportunities since many weaknesses can be turned into opportunities. Like mentioned, since Musk is involved in so many entities, they can be used to each other's advantage and work together rather than all try to succeed alone. I believe their biggest threat is main stream car companies that have mastered the mass production of cars. Also, Tesla has a chokehold on the electric car industry, but now main stream car companies have mastered the cars that most people buy, and are now entering the E car industry. I think this could be a problem for Tesla, unless they cater more to a cheaper model of car that is more affordable!
Tesla's weakness is not their weaknesses its their strength and that's why they have build a brand and dominated EV market through their disruptive business model as well as through a technology and design .
Overall, I think this video did a great job at giving a SWOT analysis on Tesla, and consequently, it's CEO Elon Musk. I actually did a financial analysis on Tesla last semester so I am relatively familiar with the company and the strengths and weaknesses that it has. This video hits on most. I think in terms of strengths the knowledge that Elon has is the main reason that this company has been exponentially grow year over year. There are a fair amount of threats, being that the company is operating in one of the most business areas. There are also quite a bit of opportunities as it is pointed out, Elon has several other companies ranging from space travel to solar production. These can be viewed as things that are going to take away from Tesla (a threat) or as something that can eventually help bring Tesla to the next level. This can also make Elon stretch himself a bit thin, and then Tesla may not have all the attention it deserves. SWOT analysis can be extremely beneficial and it can bring a lot of thoughts forward if they are done properly. However, they can also be viewed in different ways, which is also a potential plus.
The presenter of this video has analyzed a company and Elon Musk's personality. Tesla is headed by Elon Musk, who, as a leader, takes on unfathomable risks. The simple SWOT analysis helps the audience understand a bit more by framing it through a 360 lens. Given that the industry of autonomous electric vehicles is in its infancy, Elon Musk has set a standard of what the industry could be. His personality seems to be a key factor as a strength. Diversifying his portfolio contributes to his strengths, as well. Another strength is the supply chain which Tesla commands. Tesla can produce the parts at the same factory which assembles the electric vehicles. Musk has other ways to show his commitment to "future forward thinking". The other businesses allow Tesla to reach out to those who may not want to purchase a vehicle. These other organizations created by Musk also allow this entrepreneur to express his interests. This SWOT gives a much more complete view of how to develop this type of analysis since it encompasses the other businesses Musk is involved with to push the environmental impact angle. The batteries produced by Tesla will be one of its strengths as the culture of environmental responsibility shifts toward emitting fewer emissions into the environment.
With my background in teaching many in the business community are often surprised when I tell them that SWOT analysis is frequently carried in the education realm as well. In education, we are always striving to improve our methods of teaching and providing our students with the best possible experience when they are in our classroom. At one school I taught at the beginning of each quarter we were tasked with reviewing a video-taped lesson and to analyze our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and potential threats. One question I often get is how to analyze threats in teaching. Well to answer the question simply, we often look for threats to the teaching environment in other words, is the topic controversial? Are we having any students who might be behavior issues? Are their barriers to understanding that may prevent a student from understanding the material?
The SWOT analysis of Tesla. The company was founded in 2003, was the first successful authentic electric car producer and is one of two of the US car producers that has not filed for bankruptcy. Tesla's strengths are its brand recognition and the fact that people like that it was the first electric car producer. Not to mention, Elon Musk is one of the most famous businessmen in the world and the company does not just sell cars, they sell a story. Tesla's weaknesses are that it has not turned a profit ever since it was founded, and the fact that Elon Musk is responsible for 4 million dollar entities. Some future opportunities include Tesla acquiring a large percentage of the market share because more and more people are making the switch to electric vehicles. Another future opportunity is their product expansion. Some threats are that the market for electric vehicles will not become popular for a number of years. But the major threat will be when other car companies start to enter the electric vehicle market.
Are you a sports commentator? Are you translating us the video, the company's organization, the profitability and the rentability or you just commenting the football game from the perpective of a educated manger ?
Its not a weakness for a CEO to own multiple businesses. The pattern is to innovate technologies within differing industries and once they're perfected integrate them across their other organizations to achieve their goals. More than like to meld everything into their space program to help colonize Mars.
Thanks 4 Great SWOT analysis! Maybe time for a New 2.0 version as this exposes Clearly what went Well and How things around Musk has Started to Crashing Down Slowly but Surely! My Deep Respect for him has turn into Sadness and Scareness as his Innovation Ideas had mostly turn into Solely Greed and even Worse Political Power games which is Faaaaar beyond his Reach, and he has Exposed total misJudgement on his own capacity!
I don't recall the history of Tesla as described by this narrator. Just like a new relationship people get infatuated this narrator or video owner is infatuated with Elon Musk. He was in media only recently for all the wrong reasons. Remember "pedo" comment, joint, the edge of bankruptcy. Silicon Valley lives of hype and somewhere along the line hype creates a cult and then you can go into too big to fail mode. That is the ground reality. It's difficult to get these people back into their senses unless a true rival shows up and I think it may be China, yep the communist or socialist or the bad guys or Wuhan disease, .... name-call whatever you want. If the Chinese are more realistic they will get ahead of USA because so far, since the end of WWII, no competitor has emerged unless that is the US bomb China out of existence which what it appears Republicans are a new vision of the future.
