Man, I am really surprised that nobody has commented on his reaction yet.
Julian really was the guy , Brooke deserved and needed Julian new and understood Brooke the way no other guy ever could because he understood what he needed and he did everything in his power to give it to her. He really was the guy for her.
Lucas was never that guy. No matter how hard he tried. He never understood was he needed?
