- Hello! I am back from my break! It feels good to be back. During the latter part of 2023 I was starting to feel dissatisfied with my art style. I wanted to do some art studies and maybe try to work on my style a bit, but I didn’t really have the time to do so. However, I had the time while on my break! I am going to be working on drawing detailed hair and how I shade eyes. I am doing this in Clip Studio Paint.

Another way you could switch up your art style is that you could try different face shapes, lips, noses, and body types! Of course your art is just meant to please you, but you might be surprised by the end result. I did this with my art and realized just how fun it is! Also I really loved the shiny eyes at the end of the video, it's very pretty to look at.

Along with different kinds of hair as well! Wavy, curly, coily, allat! 💗
It’s so clever to break down each section of a portrait and figure out what you like! I used to do similar and paint random eyes and noses 😂
Rebekah, your art has improved so much over the years. I go back and watch your older videos, and your art is so much better, your coloring, shading and line art has changed for the better. From an artist to an artist, I look up to you so much. Keep making amazing art and keep doing your passions.

I remember being really inspired by you when I was like 11 (I’m almost 15 now) and I remember the first dozen or so chapters of ‘my Nextdoor neighbors’ and now you’re married and loads of other stuff it just feels like it’s been so long. I got really into art and manga stuff and now I think I’m pretty good at it. Thanks for starting me out on this excellent adventure.

The rendering on the brown hair was so AMAZING!!!
Looks so cool, omg!!! Just remember, with hair- let it be a little messy when it comes to tiny, tiny strands and fly aways. It'll give the hair more movement and more to work with outside of the lineart. What I like to do, is when I'm flat coloring the hair (or even drawing the lineart) I'll draw tiny thin lines next to a flowy piece of hair that often joins back into the hair at the end of it. Or, little lines that represent tiny flyaways. Not a ton, makes the hair look a bit too messy, but enough to add some variety and make the lineart less of a cage and more of a guide for the hair flow. And of course, playing around with the lineart color etc is always fun! But seriously, I love watching videos like these, they really inspire me to do studies of my own and improve ❤

EYYYYY WELCOME BACK! Gotta say this gives me motivation to try and learn drawing again. School has been kicking my a$$ (more than ever since I just started uni), and finding time and motivation to draw has been so sooo hard. It feels like I have to pick and choose among my interests and there’s only so much free time that drawing just ends up getting pushed into a dark corner, while I lay down and just scroll on my phone or play games because my brain can’t handle another thing that’s complicated and hard to understand. I’ve learned a lot from you and you’ve always been such a sweet, loving, and caring person. Thank you for making our lives better. I’ll take it slow and try to not be so hard on myself
Can relate, finding time to draw was so hard when I was in college. Make sure to not push yourself too hard.
The struggle of the drawing changing every time you come back to it, even if it’s 30 minutes later 😭 Also you definitely did a great job at making the illustration more detailed I love the finished result of your studies a lot! It even inspired me to do some later today kkkk

This feels like a training arc in an anime but oh my gosh!!!!!! Your art was pretty then and it's even prettier now!! The extra details for the hair and eyes works so incredibly well with everything else! this honestly inspired me to go and draw because of how good the second picture looks!!!

Edit: I made it to the illustration, and WOW! It looks so pretty! The changes definetly make it look a lot nicer. I will add, something that might work for the eyes is making the shadow have a bit of the eye color, you of course don't have to add it, but I thought to just bring it up ^^

Oh my gosh! The drastic change is friggin' incredible to see. When I heard you say that you would be trying to learn more, I thought you were crazy for a moment, because your art was beautiful before. But looking between the two images at the end, you can see such a difference your study made, even if it's just in the small details! Both drawings looked beautiful, but the second one definitely looks better than the first did.

it's a strange thing that in art, we have the capability to do things like a more advanced style, but may not realise it as we leave our dissatisfaction unaddressed. so it's really good for you that you took the time to address those things so thoroughly! it certainly paid off and will continue to, i think :]

5:31 That’s so good! I have a really simple art style and I tend to draw hair as just the outline 😅 it makes it hard for me to draw curly hair
Sameee when I draw curly hair it ends up looking more fluffy than curly because it’s just the outline
The hair shows so much improvement! Just in depth and making the head shape look more round. It will be really fun to see how you grow from here as you use the new methods more and more!

I’d love to know how your 12 personal arts go! When I draw for myself it’s usually sketches, and I don’t make super finished pieces very often, so I’m quite curious how you’ll go about that ^^

Yes! Push those design choices! Hair and eyes are my favorite focus points, the improved hair has a lot of points that I also focus on. My only suggestion is maybe push your darks a little darker in your most shadowed points to get the depth you're looking for.
The chromatic aberration effect on the highlights looks REALLY cool I might try it on my artstyle!!

This inspired me to try to revamp my own style. My art has felt really stuck lately, and I wasn't sure how to start. I almost never do artist studies, but you reminded me of that option. I draw from photos all the time, but it's starting to feel too rigid.

Great video and I got to say that you have your true potential of your own art style to be better but I love of how much details that you got so I will say that you should be happy that you got your art pieces without letting people criticized your work because many artists will always love their art no matter what. So may God bless you in your art journey plus I watch your video to learned more and inspiring.
It looks like you’ve evolved! Good job on both pictures but I especially like the second one. The hair is so much more flowy and alive and the picture overall just has a nice bit of extra detail. Excited to see what you do with this in the future! Hope you continue to improve!!

Edit: okay I’ve saved and before I start animating I still have work to do (I have to make their characters in my style because they add a decent amount of accessories and that’s great and I can do that for illustrations but I cannot do that because animation, along with that our styles are generally different because despite both of us using Gacha they use a mod of Gacha Club and I use Gacha Life 2 I tend to make my characters less detailed and also they don’t draw and instead edit Gacha characters and I do edit Gacha characters but tend to default to drawing, but with my not edited characters in my illustration style I tend to get detail with rendering and line art instead of accessories) so I will work on all of that stuff! Bye bye and hope your 2024 has been going well so far!

Oh my... I haven't seen your videos in a while, I started watching you when lockdown started, I was a young artist. I was trapped in the house for my safety, so I teached myself how to draw. I watched your tutorials almost everyday, you we're a big influence to little me, I loved your drawings. And, now that I'm older, but not that old, looking back at your content makes me happy. I had plenty of drawings based of your works. And seeing you improve alot made me realize I also improved. Thank you for being my childhood, and I love your drawings! Ive only just come across this video but can i just say, 1. Your art has improved massively already and you can really tell the improvement with the study
And 2. Personally i think that you explaining the process of your study, and saying why youve done certain things etc actually is more helpful then just a step by step tutorial of how to draw something!
