Solved. Based on the description of the Camaro's driver, some detective work, and an anonymous tip, authorities identified Robert's killer as Alvie Utah Williams of Hesperia, California. Williams is an alleged neo-Nazi with an extensive criminal history. Authorities eventually located the driver and other passenger of the Camaro, and they agreed to testify against Williams in exchange for immunity.
In 2003, Williams was convicted of murder and is now serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. However, in 2005, his conviction was overturned due to prosecutorial misconduct, and in 2007 he was given a second trial. However, the results have yet to be revealed.
Damn the Farina era of Unsolved Mysteries just can’t even compare to tne Robert Stack era . This show used to be so creepy with the Theme song and Stacks creepy narration of a voice. Now it just seems to ordinary. This is still my favorite show of all time . Glad to have grown up in the late 80s early 90s.

That shooting on the highway into days time would be solved pretty quickly with camera everywhere. You can not do anything nowadays without getting captured on camera, especially along the main roadways.

I read the David Moorehouse book and what this show didn't tell you, is that when he quit and started speaking out about what he had done, someone pushed a barbecue into his garage, turned it on full and left it going, the gas from it nearly killed his daughter and affected the whole family, if he hadn't have fallen asleep on the couch that night, the whole family would have perished and I am sure we all know who did it!
