Fantasy football created this utter fascination with stats. The only stat that matters is W-L. I say this fully understanding that I like the stats but not because of fantasy football. I want to see 300 plus yards passing and 100 plus yards rushing a game, but I understand that isn't always going to be the case. I want to see steady improvement as the year goes along, we shouldn't be peaking right now. We aren't peaking right now mainly because of offense, but even with the defense playing the way it is right now, there are things they can improve on that side as well. I think when you win 34-10, 44-10, 45-17 over and over it gets really hard to focus on the things you need to improve when the truth is you can win 100-0 and there are things you can improve on. It is the challenge of sports in general. Coming from the military there is an understanding that no matter how well you do at anything from the most complex task to the basic fundamental task you can still improve upon what you are doing. It is human nature to rest on your laurels, you start doing well and then you just start coasting. That is why coaching and self-scouting is so critical.
