A fun day using inks, and creating these amazing backgrounds for our card bases. Join me to learn how much fun you can have with this exceptional technique. My Blog: stampinribbons....
Good afternoon Taylor. This was a fun project for sure. Thank you for taking the time to view it, and to leave me a nice comment. Have a wonderful week.
Good evening Sandra. Thank you for the sweet compliment. I appreciate you taking the time to view. I have been absent due to some surgery but hope to be back creating soon. Blessing to you.
Carol I loved watching this and seeing all the fun you were having with the shaving cream episode. I think that as the colors became more muted the better were the results...It was like seeing a great magic show. One draw was better than the one before. Fantastic and so much fun getting to watch as you played. I could hear the wind in the background. Were you having a storm of some kind. Like snow....................... great live video..........love it
Thanks again Pat. Hope this finds you well. Yes, I do believe there was a storm that day. I work well when a storm is brewing outside for some reason. I feel safe inside, so my creative juices are willing to come out and play. hahaha Have a nice day Pat.
Love you Carol, I was laughing so much and truely enjoying your excitment. I have done the same thing by myself at 1:00 am, it truely is fun so much fun letting the little girl in side us have this much fun! Thank you for sharring your love creating art, and your so good at it too. Jannell
Good morning Jannell. You are finding some older tutorials that I truly enjoyed creating for the sheer fun of it. haha I so appreciate your kind words of encouragement. I don't ever want to lose the little girl inside me that makes creating fun and never intimidating. smiles Have a wonderful day today. I am getting over the flu and hope to have another tutorial up soon.
I am glad you feel like your creating by just viewing it. It saves you money on buying the products. Is this you "grandson"? hahahaha I thought I would ask "JUST IN " case it was YOU! lol
Oh I can't wait to see your paint pours Carol. I'm hooked on that also. Love it. I got to where I had to stop for a while cause I was running out of places to put my canvas's. I also love to pour on 4" tiles and then put on resin. Makes awesome coasters. Also do the little 2" size to make cute magnets. I'll keep a check out for your pours.
Good morning Lori. Wow, thanks for the ideas you have shared here. I thought I would be done the pour experiment by now but this 6 sided Wedding Card has taken up hours of my time. I started the edit yesterday and it took me from 8:30 in the morning until 9:00 last night. The day before that I ran into a Computer problem and spent the entire day working it out with Apple. Good thing I bought the phone plan. hahahahaha Today will take me a while to do the voiceover. I have a DT project in the wings, then the pour. Wait until you see the time of this tutorial.....Don't gasp too loud...I had to bring down a 41-hour tutorial to a decent viewing time. Now that was almost impossible thus the rather L O N G tutorial coming up. LOL Have a great day. Thanks for the ideas.
I had so much fun watching you have fun. I love, love. love the colors you are getting. Hugs. I did this also a couple of years ago and I loved it. Like you, I had papers all over the place.
Girl, when I start doing shaving cream backgrounds I end up with about 50 pages at least. I never know when to stop. haha. My favorite is using stencils. Have you tried that? Gorg and easier than it may sounds like. It was great that you started out with a purpose for your backgrounds. I just sit down in a mode to do backgrounds and make them into cards or die cut pages later on. Funny how some people will just do one print for each lay down of colors, not me, I will continue on with prints until there is no swirl left, just a pretty background of different colors. They can all be used in some way or another. I use index cards a lot, just a good all purpose size to have on hand, then you can just die cut out of those pages. Great for words and such.
Good afternoon Lori. You have a ton of great ideas for this technique for sure. I love this style of project for many reasons. I just bought all the supplies need to do a "Cell Pour" painting. It is somewhat similar in looks. haaha I can't wait to do a few canvas projects showing some ideas I have for that. I am finishing a Wedding Card/Box edit/voiceover now. I hope to do this one soon. It would look great using traditional Christmas color background for Christmas Cards also. smile I will have to try that soon also. So much to do and not enough time it seems. hahaha Thanks loads for dropping by and leaving me some ideas. Have a great week coming up.
Hi Carol, I love watching your videos. I marble and just found this and yes, kids love this. At around 18:40 you indicated wanting to keep the color as rich as it was. One of the things I do with my grandkids is to let the shaving cream dry on the paper without scraping it - that has kept the richness. I don't know if that would work on the picture paper. Also, before wiping off, grab another paper and put that on top of what you're about to scrape and keep that print. The best part is that the shaving cream washing off so easily :-) and it leaves such a soft feel...
Good evening to you. What a wonderful idea to leave the cream on. I am going to do this tomorrow with my grandson. He is going to love it, and the mess. He is 3 so Nana mess time will be awesome. hahahaha Thanks also for taking the time to view my tutorials. I have one going live shortly. haha Hope you will have time to join me. Take care!
I have to go buy some shaving cream and try this. I wonder if I could use something else besides inks? I'm glad I have a big table because I have a tendancy to be really messy! It"s so amazing to see how the color comes out!
It is one fun project to do. Let me know how you liked creating it. Send me a pic. smiles You are super talented so it will turn out wonderful I am sure of it.
You are most welcome. I have always been intrigued about Ireland. It seems like a beautiful place to live. Thanks very much for taking the time to view.
I tried to find where you may have mentioned the following in the video. Am I correct that those are re-inkers not alcohol inks that you are using to add the color to the shaving cream?
Hi there Donna. I had to go back and check that out before I answered. It is funny that I only own a dozen or so of the Stampin' Up refillers and that is what I used for this beautiful project. I don't use inks regularly so I have never had need of refilling one ink pad in five years. I got them in an order I mistakenly added reinkers to my order. So that was a good mistake on my part. hahahaha
Thanks so much for going to the trouble you did to answer my question. I do not think I have any re-inkers, but I need some. Either that or I buy new mini ink pads. I bought a bunch of mini distress ink pads two years ago and now they are drying out. I guess even if you do not use them much they dry out over time. Sigh. I know that Memento inks I bought prior to those were dry within months though I used them little. I think I should have complained when those were sent to me, but I did not test them when I bought them. I guess it makes sense to buy the re-inkers and then I can do this shaving cream technique. The pads are still in great condition other than being dry. I need to watch the second part of this video now. I can't wait to see how you use the shaving cream/ink papers!
A bientot.
Je vous remercie pour votre aimable commentaire. J'aime que vous l'ayez regardé en anglais. Je parle peu le français, donc je vous remercie pour vos aimables mots à moi.
Good morning. I am not sure if this is blurry. It is an older tutorial but I haven't had anyone tell me it is blurry so I will go and check it out. Thanks for letting me know. Have a great day! smile
I can hardly wait to try this, but it will have to be in March. I have ordered a Fiskars circle cutter for far less than Martha Steward and another brand. I cannot wait to get it. Shaker cards here I come. I need to get acetate next month. For now I have circle packaging acetate that already has the depth needed for a card. Have a great day, Carol.
No problem. I still have not gotten the shaving cream. I need to do that. I also need to get acetate. I have vellum, but not acetate. Looks like I need to get photo paper too. I will have to watch this video again to know what to do. You have a great weekend too.
Love this looks like fun!
Good afternoon Taylor. This was a fun project for sure. Thank you for taking the time to view it, and to leave me a nice comment. Have a wonderful week.
How fun. I didn't realize you can do this on photo paper. Thanks for the tip

Turns out, I don't have to actually DO THIS, I can just WATCH THIS, and get the same effect! lol
Glad you are having fun. Inspirational! :)

Hi there Momo! Thanks so much for the sweet comment! I'm thrilled that you tried it out, and loved it! I knew you would. Smiles
I love your enthusiasm. I did it myself and it made great background for butterflies, etc.
I am so sorry I missed this comment, my friend. Thank you so much for viewing and for commenting here. You made my day.
I always wear disposable gloves when doing this technique. One of my favorite techniques.
That is a good idea. I worked in Orthodontics wearing gloves all day, so it is refreshing to create without them. hahahaha
This is easyer, than I seen done before. Nice going Carol.
Thanks so much, Pattsy. You are too kind my friend. Have a great evening.
Okay I take it back you are good and messy!
I didn't want to let you down. lol
Too funny! I didn't know you knew Spanish. Es muy bueno.
Hahaha I am caring for our grandson overnight. Thanks for watching .....smile
wow
I am delighted you enjoyed this fun process with the shaving cream. Thanks for dropping by Srijita.
Yes. I did...Love from India 💞💞💞
Thanks again Srijita. Have a great day.
