- How's this for a cool new technique.... I've called it the Shaving Cream Galaxy technique because thats what this background looks like to me. This was a "happy accident" that occurred after playing with the good old shaving cream technique that we know and love. For more details visit my blog at www.lhiggins.blogspot.com and be sure to hit the "Subscribe" button here on RUclips to see more of my tutorials and ideas. Enjoy the video!
What an awesome background. Love happy accidents! Thanks for the great video.
Thanks so much Sandra! Glad you enjoyed it
I discovered your video a few days ago, went out to buy the shaving cream the next day and set it all up a day later and today I did the technique and it worked! It’s amazing! Thanks so much!
Glad it worked for you!
Beautiful!!
I can’t wait to try this version of shaving cream printing! Thanks for teaching us this technique!
What a wonderful idea. Kudos to your husband for suggesting you use the cream instead of throwing it out. A must try in my future.
He was pretty pleased with himself to be sure :-) Thanks for commenting
I realize this is years old LOL But... I HAD to say that Hands Down, without doubt, absolutely, this is the BEST think I have ever seen on a card making video! Actually, it is the coolest technique I have seen in ANY art making video and I have seen decades worth!! LOL Thank you so much for sharing, and I LOVED the build up to the reveal, it did not disappoint :D
AND, that *circle* one to me looks like the earth from space! So...just the opposite view from earth looking into the stars which has added even more interest if possible to this :)
Watercolor Seasons wow thanks! So glad you enjoyed it 😀
I love that technique! It’s so different than any shaving cream method I ever did!
Enjoyed watching an old utube Linda.❤
What a happy accident! I LOVE this! My daughter is going to think I'm nuts with trays of shaving cream sitting out all night but this is a must try. TFS!!
Thanks for watching! Wishing you some great results with this technique!
WoW! Am I ever happy to have stumbled on this video. I love this technique and can’t wait to try it. Thank you for sharing ❤️👏👏🇨🇦
You are so welcome 🙏
Brilliant! These are gorgeous! I am really looking forward to trying this method! And here it's been on RUclips for over 3 years and it's the first time I've seen anything like it! Love your happy accident!!
Thank you so much. Happy accidents are my favourite 🙂
galaxy papers are hard to find. i have some starwars dies and i have been making the paper with distress ink and water splatters. although it works it is a lot of blending and uses a lot of ink. for the amount of paper that i required. i am so excited to try this. thank you and thank your husband!
this is proof that even older ideas and techniques (7 years ago) still have relevance in the future!
I agree! It's nice to see that things come back in style.
Just today I left my inked foam out instead of cleaning it up. Will try a few printings tomorrow and see what it looks like. Definitely going to try the darker look - spectacular result you got, Linda! Serendipity - the universe smiled on you!
Aww thanks! Good luck with yours…. I hope it turns out amazing
Hello, no males in household, but will now be going shopping for shaving cream. :) :) Seems like a little messy but I will love the outcome & can't wait to give it a try. Love the idea of leaving it overnight and then putting paper/card stock on top to get the galaxy effect. Be safe & TYFS
I hope you love the results!
Wow Linda , thanks for mentioning this in tonight’s live , love this technique, looks amazing, I will definitely give this a go
Yay so glad you could watch it
♥💖Those are really pretty. Thank you for sharing this video in the live tonight. It was not as messy as I was expecting.
Its cool though isnt it?
Totally awesome!
I was thrilled to have found this today. My 9 year old granddaughter LOVES anything galaxy and I had been searching for a way to get this look using shaving cream. Whoohoo! I even have that stamp set! (It's the little things, right?) Thanks, and I hope you are doing well!
Thanks so much Marsha! I hope your granddaughter loves doing this! It really is a lot of fun!
WOW! Can’t believe what I just watched! Seriously a wonderful accident! Definitely planning to try this...I love a galaxy look on a card! Thank you for sharing! 💫✨

What a fabulous mistake! Love it and I am definitely trying this technique as I do a lot of outer space themes on my cards. Thanks for the super error Linda!
You are so welcome 🙂
Omy Goodness.... Wonderful. Have to try this! 😍😍
wow oh wow this is great, thanks for sharing love it.
Thanks for that Raye... my pleasure
I did this back before Easter and cut my Easter Eggs from it. they were beautiful. I like it better than first dip...If it dries up you can wet it with water and get even more from it. Love your background colors for the outer space look.
it also makes beautiful butterflies and flowers
Brilliant!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
So glad you liked it
wow wow wow - great mistake - I love procrastination issues as well and you have proven why procrastinating is a good thing. Thanks for the research on how to do it and how long to wait.
Isn't it great when you stumble on these kinds of things? I think procrastination definitely has its rewards....
Love this technique
Thanks Yvonne!!!
Hi Linda, do you need to "set" the shaving creme with hairspray or anything to stop it rubbing off (like Brushos or pastels)? Thanks.
No... you will actually wipe it off once you have used it to make your print. Glad you found the video :)
i must try .., thank you for that
You are very welcome!
For a while I have been thinking about making some calligraphy paper for the poem "He wishes for the cloths of heaven" by WB Yeats. This will be the perfect background thanks.
Glad I could assist! Good luck!
What s great technique! ❤️
Thank you Lesley
LOVE LOVE This!!!!
Thanks so much!!!
Have you tried with acrylic paints?
No I haven’t..... mainly because I don’t sell them. But they might work because they are water based?
Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome!
It’s gorgeous
Thank you Sandi!
Thank you for sharing. I will be trying this, I love it. JoanUK
Joan Pearmain Thanks Joan! It’s super fun!
gorgeous
patricia golub glad you like it :)
You probably won’t find this comment, but can you use food colouring for this?
I found it! Actually I have no idea how that might work as I’ve never tried it. Might be worth an experimental session :)
I love it and like you would have thrown it away
I know... lucky huh??
