1980 I was hired to help a new car dealership, run down by the owner's miscreant son. I had spent a year bailing out similarly stricken dealership. No bodyshop manager, so I hired one from a Father Son Ford Dealership after a nasty family fight. He showed up in a low milage Shelby GT500. I traded him EVEN for my Bug Eye Sprite on a Friday. Monday the cops and his dad showed up and got the GT500. I owned it for a weekend! Nice build - thanks, Chris.
I must say this box art is the nicest I've seen from Revell in a while. And this blue and yellow color scheme really suits it. The custom model on the box is also tastefully done, so I just might have to buy two.
Man that is one sharp looking ‘70 Mustang Shelby Chris! Love that blue with the striping! That white interior with blue dash looks excellent. By the way, I run into that problem from time to time when I am about to lay down a coat of paint and the nozzle clogs up!
Another superb review and build, Chris! I too have had problems with the nozzles on Rust-Oleum 2X paints clogging up. It seems to clog in the valve stem protruding from the can rather than the nozzle cap itself. On another note, I found that Rust-Oleum 2X Deep Blue is a dead ringer for OEM Ford Blue. Hope this helps! Rock on Brother!
Another great build! Tamiya French Blue TS-10 would also work here. I just finished my '71 Demon 340 and used French Blue- it's a half shade lighter than TS-44.
Update: it's possible to attach the lower front and rear valances before painting. The trick is to insert the rear of the chassis into the body first, then work your way to the front. The front may require a SLIGHT bit of bending in order for it to slip under the front valance but it's not very difficult at all. I've done it myself not only on this model but the other Mustang models using the same platform. Hope this helps!😊
Woo...hoo! Been waiting for this 1 to be reissued! As per usual, no headers... would have been a GR8 update. Other than that, I can't wait to get a few. Many thanx Chris 👍👍
True dat. Shelsaw the looming restrictions on the automotive field in the late '60s, turned production of the cars back to Ford, and retired to Africa for a decade.
After watching your video I decided to build my kit Candy apple red with gold stripes. To my disappointment the Revell Germany issue kit I purchased only has white and black stripes. Normally the German kits have more decals but not in this case.
Awesome build . Quick question? Do you know if they are making a plastic kit for the HIROHATA Merc , it’s a hot car right now. Plastic model in any scale ? Thanks so much Mike Espo .
Wonder why made Revell decide to put this as the '70 500, when it's the '69 500. Well, acurately, all '70s were unsold '69 that were rebadged into 1970. Now, nothing wrong with that. I'm just wondering what made them decide to do that. It's the same kit that was issued a couple of time, I have the 2000-2010 ish release with the custom 20 or so inches wheels, that sadly aren't part of this re-issue. Still I dunno if the custom rims were part of the car (my kit is still in my stash, unopened) but they seem cool. Decals seems cool as well. Nice build as always, Chris.
Hi Chris, at 58 minute mark, you mention using wax paper for the Super Glue and mounting bumper. Not sure what you mean? Are you putting a dab of glue on the wax paper and then applying to the model with an applicator instead of directly from the bottle? or am I misunderstanding your intended technique? Your reply is welcomed. cheers.
How do you deal with when you cut the chrome bumpers off the tree and then you have to hide the part where the chrome is not there where you trimmed it off the tree?
I like my license plate decals from Gofer because I’m tired of the California plate decals that they so commonly provide with the kits… and what’s up with that anyway.
Why in the heck has Revell or any kit maker not re released the mad Max car/ interceptor. Smh. It's the one kit I need in my collection without paying $300

By law the cop and his dad couldn't do shit if his son owned it
Really like the new cover art for this old kit. Be nice if Revell issued some cover art jigsaw puzzles like AMT's produced.
Stripes on the hood made unsold 1969's into new 1970''s
Dude I second this, I'd even settle for a wall poster in large format... I can live with that mean boy in front of my home office work station
Stunning paint job on this one! I'd love to see the "fangs" version as well!!
Congrats on 100K!
Great looking car - thanks for the build.
Love how you did the seats

Nice job Chris!!
Ford used left over 69's and made some modifications to them to create these 1970 versions of the GT500's. These kits look very realistic. Great work.
That's interesting, I did not know that. Thanks!
I know what I'm getting for Christmas!
Nice build as always mate
That decal around the dash gauges gave me fits! But it worked out in the end. This kit resembles the 69 Boss 302 I am building. A fun kit!
Great looking model well done !!!
👍👍

Awesome as always.
Very nice looking model. Looks like another home run from Revell. Great job building this one. Thanks for sharing.
What a great build Chris.
Forgot how the 1970 Mustang looked like the 1968 Camaro. Both cars were great. Nice build.
At a glance, it almost looks like a '72 Javelin to me 😅
@@martyoberman2108 that is so funny. You're right. All three cars were powerhouses.
Really cool model. 🚗
Love it Chris as well S your build!

I like the TS 54 metallic light blue as well.

I like how the GT 500 gave an idea of what the next mustang would look like
Awesome build .
Quick question?

Thanks so much Mike Espo .
Zero info on that my friend, but it would be cool to see a resin caster tackle it.

I have the one that's green on the box art with yellow flames in my kit it had two sets of decals
Nice 👍👍
Very nice
That blue looks really similar to factory Ford Grabber Blue. I dunno if it was offered in '70 though.

Is this a new kit or a re-release?
It's almost a straight repop of the '69/'70 Mustang kits with some minor adjustments for the Shelby.
@@martyoberman2108Thanks
It's also a straight re-release of previous Revellogram GR-500 kits.@@robertjensen1438
Strange. It’s a 2n’1 with a stock exhaust system?
