You just gotta love that EGGMAN part at the end!! I play this game all the time i died 3 times when playing it, its an awesome game to play when you feel like doing something random, either that or play mine sweeper for an hour.
His reasons for not hating this game are my reasons for liking Shadow the Hedgehog. It's not Sonic, but it doesn't have to be. I also don't think a stupid concept should matter in a game, Shadow the Hedgehog has solid platforming.
Eggman's plan was truly brilliant actually. He'd let Sonic live, but ruin his game career by taking away everything that made Sonic good. Then he'd leave Sonic to wallow in the sheer terribleness of this game and watch as Sonic was suffering and laughed at.
The Sonic fanbase is a weird-thinking group. If Sonic 3D is counted as 3D, then we gotta count Labyrinth, and SegaSonic the Hedgehog, both released beforehand... so Sonic 3D is "DA THIRD 3D SAWNIC GAME!!" It's like saying Sonic Labyrinth, Genesis, or R is worse than Sonic 06
It's probably as much 3D as Sonic the Hedgehog 4. While it probably has better music, there's more risks to deal with in Sonic 3D, so I'd rather play Labyrinth. Plus Labyrinth is over and done with quicker, so the suffering doesn't last as long
Well, I would never really play Labyrinth, not when there's games like Sonic 2, 3 and Knuckles, and Generations. But if I had to play either Labyrinth or 3D Blast, it'd have to be Labyrinth. Especially since I already played Sonic 3D on the PC, and I never really enjoyed it
I owned a fair few Sonic games growing up. Owned Both Sonic 2s, Sonic 2 for the Master System being my first ever video game. Owned Sonic 1, owned Sonic R, owned 3D, this was all before 2000, before Pokemon came in and took the lead, and Sonic took the backseat for a bit. Played all them all the time. Played 3D once, didn't like it. Gave up
Oh hey! I managed to get to this one while it was still fresh outta the uploading oven! Chalk another up for Clement's Sonic LP tally. Excellent as always Clement. Double Thumbs up! :D
Something you didn't mention is that on the level where you have to flip the switch to complete the level in the castle labyrinth, you have to beat the level with at least 2:00 on the clock to get the perfect ending. I don't know why, but there you go
You have to complete the stage 2 by not only flipping the switch but also you have to beat the stage with 2:00 on the timer to get the best ending in Castle Labyrinth act 2? Another reason why I despise this so-called Sonic Labyrinth!!!!!
I think the main thing that we should all take away from Sonic Labyrinth and Sonic 3D Blast is that isometric viewpoints rarely work, or at least that they don't work in Sonic.
In Sonic Spinball you gotta get the chaos emeralds to kill Robtink's Fortress and Sonic 3D Blast you need to defeat Robtink's enemies to hit the giant ring and Sonic Labyrinth still find 3 keys to get the chaos emeralds to kill Robtink's Labyrinth.
I don't see what is so wrong with 3D blast, I mean I beat it on my first time ever playing it....or is the rerelease of 3D blast on sonic gems fixed so its less annying?
i downloaded this game on the 3ds eshop the other day and its a fun little game too, i've never played it either so it was cool to play a new sonic game. lol brill bit at the end of the vid lol
The funny thing is that despite the notions that games like 06 and Shadow suck, I've found that there are actually quite the number of people that enjoy both games. I enjoy some of 06 though not the overall experience. Shadow didn't frustrate me because I bought the strategy guide before buying the game.
Honestly this game didn't look to bad, I mean it could be a lot worse. Plus, it's on the Game Gear so I don't understand why people were expecting this magnificent piece of work in the first place.
I say it doesnt matter that Dr Wily is an evil robot engineer. Because first of all, he is an antagonist in a series of video games and every main villain in video games has a castle as their main base. Bowser has his own castle, Neo Cortex has his own castle (at least in Crash Team Racing), King Dedede has one in Kirby's Dreamland and Ganondorf.. well he doesnt, but he has a sleepover in Zelda's castle in about every game that features him. Castles are the final levels. Always.
Got me. Mario's actually a good comparison, there's gobs of games that have nothing to do with the main games, but no one gets upset at that. Then again the only bad Mario games are Hotel Mario, Time machine, and 64.
@ClementJ642 If somebody in Sonic Team had ended up creating a Sonic Labyrinth 03D or an Ultimate Sonic Labyrinth for the Microsoft 0360 or Playstation 03, what would you probably think of it? :)
@321cheeseman Thats only when doing missions, and I'd prefer that over some of the lengthy loading screens I've faced in numerous PC games. As for the camera, it's pretty easy to use, like SA1&2, there's the shoulder buttons that rotate it, the right stick can move it around even more, and Ltrig centers the camera behind Sonic. As for the scripted events, there's a right and wrong way of entering them, I can duplicate the results, the outcome of a corkscrew depends on the angle it was entered.
The only thing that I see as a downfall to sonic labyrinth is there were only 5 chaos emeralds rather than the 7 established after sonic 1. I didn't mind Sonic 3D Blast, but I will agree on how terrible the isometric view affected the game play.
@321cheeseman 9-15 seconds is such an eternity. And the camera can do wierd things, if only I could like press the shoulder buttons or the right stick to fix it to my preference. As far as the glitches go, I figure them out, I know what causes most of them, or at least the ones I've run into, in fact, some of them were amusing. I thought the game was pretty easy actually, not like Sonic games are challenging to begin with.
@RobotnikVoiceFan 9-15 seconds ARE an eternity when it comes before AND after a single sentence of text, or 3 seconds of gameplay, which happens ALL THE TIME if you talk to people in Soleanna. Yeah, you can KIND OF keep the camera in check. KIND OF. But the camera's still killed me more than anything else in the game. Glitches, whether amusing or not, are bad. I've often died during scripted events that I can't control, like Sonic running through a corkscrew. That's just silly.
It's so short because it's a game gear game! This is impressive for 8 bit and this game impresses me as it also takes into consideration the short battery life.
I haven't a thing against Sonic Labyrinth. I haven't a thing against Sonic 3D, either. Maybe it's the music that Richard Jacques did. Or the fact I find it fun. I dunno.
Question Sonic's and Tails' sexuality - check. Say "but I digress" - check. I was scared that you wouldn't ever say that in this lp. Also, the only other game where I've seen a boss fight against spiked wall is Time Crisis 4. I can destroy the walls with the pistol and beat the game without getting hit once. 'Nuff said.
@RobotnikVoiceFan >Thats only when doing missions It still happens and it's still incredibly lame. Yes, I understand that you can somewhat control the camera, it still freaks out at some stupid moments and leads to you dying. Even at its best, the camera is very inept and makes it hard to tell where you're going and what's going on. There shouldn't BE a wrong way to enter a corkscrew. Knowing the right way doesn't make the fact there is a WRONG WAY TO ENTER A SCRIPTED EVENT any less terrible.
@Saber698 aw crap, forgot something. A negative of the saturn port is...load times. EVERYWHERE. they are, if not worse, equal to sonic 06's. pick your "poison."
i love the spindash but labyrinth isnt a terrabal game but its kinda hard for me cause i'm used to running at extreme speed like sonic heros, sonic adventure 2 battle, sonic adventure dx,
I thought Sonic Rivals was short. I beat the game from afternoon to evening in 1 day. And you wanna know what's funny? I didn't master the memory stick for my PSP until the following day. so even though I did take breaks, I didn't turn off the PSP until after the credits. I still think Sonic Rivals is a decent to enjoyable game with little flaws to my knowledge. Aslo, I love the staff roll music.
@LuigiMan200 Thank you, I pride my self in loving all that sonic brings even though sometimes it all goes to hell. I say as a fan of anything just keep support it and keep hope that one day your thoughts will be heard, I'm still waiting for a sonic game that has sonic, but also other characters to play with like Sonic Advance or Sonic Adventure, both wonderful but, now we just focus on sonic... It's not a bad thing it's just not a good idea to throw away your creations so recklessly.
I've never heard of those games. I just know 64 was a severe drop in control and enjoyment from World and Yoshi's Island. It's unavoidable cuz you got to start somewhere, but you can't pretend that the game holds up after all these years. I will admit that the game looked good, it just would have been better without the hub world and collect-a-thon missions... Then again Sunshine and Galaxy made it fun so maybe if it was just made better. I've never played the DS version though.
You know, Sonic and Tails are like...just two dudes who like to hang out and do guy stuff. You know, just two men who maybe do it every now and then, but it's not so much about the sex so much as just like being a dude
"You can't fault a game for not being something you expected." Doesn't that contradict what he later says in Shadow the Hedgehog?
I personally didn't mind Sonic 3D Blast
i just realized that the final boss' Eggman head looks more like the modern Eggman than the classic Eggman
Always thought Sonic used to just sleep wherever until he met tails and then he just crashed on tails' couch from then on...
sonic for hire ?
DASH64 Sonic the Squatter
Super Mario RPG. No one could have expected A Final Fantasy Mario Love child
In Sonic 2 it is Sonic's job to stop Robtink from the ultimate weapon in Death Egg.
Eggman's plan was truly brilliant actually. He'd let Sonic live, but ruin his game career by taking away everything that made Sonic good. Then he'd leave Sonic to wallow in the sheer terribleness of this game and watch as Sonic was suffering and laughed at.
Every time Sonic skids after a spin dash I feel like i need to check if my phone is ringing
I'm surprised there wasn't a New Game Plus where you could run fast and all through the game.
I can't wait for the tails skypatrol lets play. Now I could finally understand how to play it better
Good question there. Why doesn't Sonic 3D get as much hate as Sonic Labyrinth?
The Sonic fanbase is a weird-thinking group. If Sonic 3D is counted as 3D, then we gotta count Labyrinth, and SegaSonic the Hedgehog, both released beforehand... so Sonic 3D is "DA THIRD 3D SAWNIC GAME!!"

i just liked it, idk why, enjoyed it
I love the music to the final boss
Oh hey! I managed to get to this one while it was still fresh outta the uploading oven! Chalk another up for Clement's Sonic LP tally. Excellent as always Clement. Double Thumbs up! :D
The Spin Dash is fine sounds like a pretty good defense for Sonic Lost World. xD
IT IS PERFECT! WONDERFUL!
Something you didn't mention is that on the level where you have to flip the switch to complete the level in the castle labyrinth, you have to beat the level with at least 2:00 on the clock to get the perfect ending. I don't know why, but there you go

very cool clement keep up the good work
I think the main thing that we should all take away from Sonic Labyrinth and Sonic 3D Blast is that isometric viewpoints rarely work, or at least that they don't work in Sonic.
I love the end credits in this game!
Rumor has it that Johnny's a bit of a troll.
No, wait, that's a fact.
shoes that makes you faster than sonic is a good idea dr eggman
I cannot wait unil you do a lets play of 06 XD oh god I bet thatll be funny
Well, You and Sonic Labyrinth reminds me of me and Sonic 2006.
I was actually in the middle of typing the gamegear battery life excuse when you said it :3
So this is what Spiked-Wall Man would be like.
I've learned something from the introduction of this video and that is the fact that clement might be hawaiian
Had I not known it was an actual Sonic game, I could easily mistake it for a pirate game.
Spiked-Wall Man; the one robot master that Megaman just couldn't seem to defeat...
SONIC, on the other hand kicked his ass hard! :D
Eggman is a robotic scientist-making guy. So he's a robotic guy who makes scientists? :)
The funny thing is that despite the notions that games like 06 and Shadow suck, I've found that there are actually quite the number of people that enjoy both games. I enjoy some of 06 though not the overall experience. Shadow didn't frustrate me because I bought the strategy guide before buying the game.
1:35 the consumer being the game gear CONSUMING 6 AA batteries at once
1:48 - Spike Wall Man!!?!!?!?!! Mega Man run!!!
Surprised you made no Mega Man joke there. XD
Honestly this game didn't look to bad, I mean it could be a lot worse. Plus, it's on the Game Gear so I don't understand why people were expecting this magnificent piece of work in the first place.

Castles are the final levels. Always.
Spiked-Wall Man: You're doing it wrong
Hey Clement, I guess you will be doing a Sega Saturn or PC Lp from Sonic 3D Blast right? Cause you cannot even compare those to the Genesis version...
IT'S PERFECT WONDERFUL!
doesn't the final boss remind you of the Wily Capsule? or is it just me?
Got me. Mario's actually a good comparison, there's gobs of games that have nothing to do with the main games, but no one gets upset at that.
Then again the only bad Mario games are Hotel Mario, Time machine, and 64.
@ClementJ642

Clement what do you thing of sonic and the black knight
@ZXReploidHunter i havent seen the show, but do you mean just the 4kids version or the show in general?
Dr.Eggman at the end of the level pu spiked-wall ma it never fails.
Eggman came up with SpikeWallMan? Dr. Wily needs to take a lesson from him.
@321cheeseman Thats only when doing missions, and I'd prefer that over some of the lengthy loading screens I've faced in numerous PC games. Was this also released for Mastersystem?
Yes! This Game is not bad! We get it! Can we move along now?!
Ohh, the old Sonic games
Eggman #1: The Mega Impaler! (That's a Mega Man joke) Eggman #2: The Robotnik Bomber!
The first boss of this game is harder than the final boss in this game
Maybe he wanted to torture Sonic. He IS evil after all.
The only thing that I see as a downfall to sonic labyrinth is there were only 5 chaos emeralds rather than the 7 established after sonic 1. I didn't mind Sonic 3D Blast, but I will agree on how terrible the isometric view affected the game play.
3D Blast is just to easy to talk bad about. Also it has an ice level. 3D Blast is the bomb!
@321cheeseman 9-15 seconds is such an eternity. And the camera can do wierd things, if only I could like press the shoulder buttons or the right stick to fix it to my preference. Oh my gosh, it spiked wall man, where is doctor willy when you need him?
I didn't mind Sonic 3D Blast, although I played Sonic Spinball more for some reason.
Anwser to clements statement in 3:34 i think theyre giving the players a false sense of security for the final zone
Personally, I like 3D blast. But then, I've never tried to get the chaos emeralds.
well in my opinion, I think it should have 7 zones instead of 4, one for every emerald
robotnik is part robot. his left arm got roboticized in SatAm was it?
8:21 i expect sonic to be a hedgehog and mario a plumber! lol
i never had a huge problem with 3D blast i will agree the platforming is harder because of the isometric view but other than that i have fun with it
grate lp of sonic laberth ;)
i think this maze was made by aperture labs, all the doors are portals
It's so short because it's a game gear game! This is impressive for 8 bit and this game impresses me as it also takes into consideration the short battery life.
I'll agree with Sonic 3D Blast being annoying. One time I got access to the stage select screen, while during game play.
The best thing 3D blast had going for it was its music. I agree it's worse than Labyrinth.
I haven't a thing against Sonic Labyrinth.
I haven't a thing against Sonic 3D, either.
Maybe it's the music that Richard Jacques did. Or the fact I find it fun. I dunno.
rumor also has it that the sky is green

I loved 3D blast..
Sighmaniac RotMG :Agreed!
Exactly, and neither does Sonic Blast being Sonic 3.
Eggman! Simply make complete paralysis shoes! then he can't move at all!
A robotic Science making guy...
Did you mean a Science-y robot making guy? :P
there's always the hats.
@RobotnikVoiceFan
>Thats only when doing missions
It still happens and it's still incredibly lame.

Wow this game had the best bosses
i like 3d blast. yeah it has problems expecialy with some of the platforming but i still like it

Known things about Sonic/Tails's house: it has satellite TV, eeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........
the boss is spiked wall man?
Are you trolling me!
what system is that or is that not a system is a computer game with sonic tell me now cause ur awsome
That result screen jingle is giving me a headache
cool!
This looks ok.
You know, Sonic and Tails are like...just two dudes who like to hang out and do guy stuff. You know, just two men who maybe do it every now and then, but it's not so much about the sex so much as just like being a dude
That was probably the easiest spike wall boss fight in all of video game history. Could you imagine trying to beat a spike wall in any other game?
How do you get 5 stars?
It has a table, and a couch
