The Maqamat as long as it is used to understand Quran more effectively, only for the sake of understanding it the Maqamat should be used, it should not be used to take away the purpose of the Quran
Asalamualaikum I noticed you guys said you are in north California is it possible for me to study with you to learn the maqamaat? I have done tajweed and hifdh so I think I would be able to take on the task
I suggest focusing on getting an Ijazah for Quran reading first before even getting into making your voice better, etc. I just started an Ijazah course recently for Quran reading and I will have to finish the whole Quran recitation to the Sheikh in order to get the Ijazah. I have finished more then 3 Juz. I also suggest you to listen to Qaris like Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al Hussary or Sheikh Ayman Suwayd because they don't compromise any Tajweed rules.
There is a channel named @MAQAMAT with BAKERR english he has a series in which he explains the maqams and when and how to use them, he also shows you how to learn them. They are short 6 min videos but they are very powerful for learning (the series is called "how to recite fatiha by MAQAMAT")

You are thinking of Greek & Eurasian Orthodox chants. Maqam isn't one thing. It just means style. There could have been tens of thousands of maqams in middle eastern history lost to time. It's not unimaginable that some still exist today, that were partly influenced by the long Byzantine Greek history in the middle east.
Yes it is if you compromise the rules of Tajweed which I did see some mistakes in the recitation in this video. It's really rare to find a Qari who recites with Maqamat without compromising the Tajweed rules.

I'm from Sacramento. Now I live Galilee. It's amazing how much the northern California landskape is like the Middle East!🌅🏞️
The best is to just stay in the rules of Tajweed. And the makamat if you apply any, do what you naturally sound.
Maqamat bayati is my fave and it sounds soo nice n manly
JazakaAllah kheir I was really struggling to find out how the melodies differentiated from one another and this made it a bit clearer for me 🙌

Masha Allah u guys did a very good much. Barakallahu feekum
bonez320 i think its too difficult for them to present these maqaaamat HIJAAZ, & Ajam !!!!!!!!
Abou Maryam no they prolly didn’t intend to do all 7. I think the purpose was to display the concept of Maqamat rather than display all the maqamat.
But yes those two maqams are very beautiful and it’s kind of sad that they didn’t do them 🙁
masallah

Magham is a persian AVAZ method.. but these maghamats are a bit different from what persians use in their vocals.
great! now can you explain the meanings of each maqam and when it's used
