If you can convince your butcher to go camera that would be great.

If people are squimish, shame on them. Everyone should know the history of food. If they don't like just leave. No one is forced to watch or complain. I grew up at a time where you grew, fished and preserved, or you starved. No food banks. We did not do the large animals like cattle but they were in the neigbourhood. Before I married my mother-in-law helped us to process a deer and said afterwords, "now you know how to do it, I'm stepping back". Best lesson she taught me. We have dressed many a deer almost for 40 years. Don't ask me to name the cuts, never learned them; don't care; just want my protein. I enjoy watching all aspects of farming, from a seed to butchering.

I thought it was interesting to see what happens at the butcher. I was working in an artisanal pork butcher back when I was a teenager to get an extra buck and it works similar and different at the same time. We of course cooked (ham), salted, smoked and baked meat as well. The butchery is about the same though. Special breed these people ;)

None of that was at all boring. Learning about the farm process is interesting because there’s a lot of work that goes into putting that Sunday roast on the dinner table. People really need to think about it more because there’s so many eco warriors complaining about cattle yet enjoying their steaks and donairs and sausages. They have to consider that no cattle farm and no dairy farm means no milk or cheese or butter or cream or……… well anything.
Supporting and understanding our livestock farmers is supporting and understanding our economy and the way we live! Without our farmers working so hard we would not eat well or eat at all in fact.
Farming is not just livestock or grain it’s everything.
Thank you Tom for educating us with the basics and the nuts and bolts of farm life and everything else that goes with it.

Yes. Showing the cuts would be great. The measurement of the different weights during the process gives you the hard numbers but when your Butcher sees the direct improvement, that’s a great source of feedback. I would also be interested in the Farm Shop and all the local produce you have. Do you have any commercial customers in your local area? Always good to see how farmers are moving to a farm gate to plate model. The absolute gouging by Australian supermarkets on the producer and customer is a huge cost of living issue here. Cheers from Sydney.

I when to school for agriculture and learn i to judge cattle and where all the cuts come from but for people who don't know i think it would be great for them to learn it would help them become better customers when it comes to buying beef.

I think it’s really interesting to see where our food comes from. I would love to see more of these types of videos 👍🏻
