  • I will go over what I have learned about my TopCat (Top Cat) mulcher. Specs, where to find a user manual, what you MUST do before you power up...
    You will find that the AGROTK mulchers are nearly identical to the TopCat Mulcher.

    Just bought one last week (half price), still in crate. So far, I've blown two hoses and the drive belt within the first 2 hours of use. The two new U.S. made hoses seem to hold up, but now I'm on the search for an American made belt.

      Try this, I believe this is the correct specs
      Alternate belt = 1680-14m -40
      This may be the belt...
      www.amazon.com/PowerDrive-1680-14M-40-Timing-Belt-Rubber/dp/B00ISCB5UG
      66.41" circomfrance = 1680m
      1.57" wide = 40m
      .39 = tooth depth = 10m
      .55" = 14M = pitch (teeth on center)
      or... HTD1680-14M made by FENKE

      Thank you for the info by the way, it is greatly appreciated. I bought the one off of Amazon and it’s been working well. It actually fits so tight that I had to take the cog off to get the belt on. After taking a close look at the tensioner, I realized that it was warped from the start and caused the belt to walk off the cog and tare. I’ve been running the new belt without the tensioner.

    Thank you for taking the time to make this. Ive been seeing these at a lot of auctions but I have not been able to find any info on them. Some feedback after a week using it would be a great follow up to this video!

    Thank you John for taking the time to put this together. I to purchased a TopCat Mulcher on an auction (really good price compared to used ones on other sites!) As you have pointed out, not a lot of info out there on this unit. I will let you know how mine works out.

      Scott, THANK YOU for taking the time to provide feed back. FYI... I may have the replacement Teeth issue figured out and expect to have a video posted soon. Be sure to keep us updated on things you learn about your TopCat. Despite the tooth issue, overall this unit is doing a pretty good job. hope yours works out as well.

      Michael, thank you for the feedback. If you have any questions about the TopCat (TMG, AGROTK), just let me know I am looking to get info out there as I can, so that as I use this thing, we can have a community of users sharing ideas and solving problems. I am already noticing wear on the teeth after just 30 hours of use. Still have not found a source for replacement.

      @@topcatmulchers3802 yeah that’s something that’s concerning me about purchasing one of these. I’m looking into getting into commercial use but the lack of support is a problem. There’s a guy that sales them on Facebook Marketplace out of Elizabethton TN. Idk if he sales spare teeth for them but might be a place to look

      If I had it to do over, I would probably go with a name brand, like loftness (which has exceptional documentation), or diamond. Something that would allow interchangeable teeth type. On the TopCat it does an okay job, but the narrow two prong carbide teeth make the job slow and end product chunky, requiring multiple passes to re-process the material. If you were going to use this for commercial use, plan on the job taking longer due to that. I will be posting some more detailed examples of clearing, hopefully in the next week.

    hi john I brought my unit used. It was brand new. but no oil when they ran it. The top drive unit does need oil. The bearing where burned up. Got new bearing for it but need seals. I called titian they didn't have parts. One thing that I did learn is don't mention Top Cat Use there 60 mulcher parts. I am going to call them again next week.

    • @topcatmulchers3802
      @topcatmulchers3802  8 месяцев назад

      Dean, yep. That was the point of my first video. The Top Cat comes BONE DRY. not a drop of oil or grease anywhere. combine that with the somewhat useless user manual and you are asking for issues. Fortunately, I at least spent the time trying to find a manual and succeeded finding that appears to be the closest one out there (see video #1), and it had all the details of the spots needing to be serviced. I did that before ever turning it on. Might be the first smart thing I did with the Top Cat. Have you tried contacting agrotkindustrial.com/ for parts?

    When you add gear oil on the right side, is there a plug in the overflow hole? Mine is threaded but has no plug. There's also a bolt on same gear box that only goes about half way in and stops. It has a washer and lock washer but won't tighten down.

    • @topcatmulchers3802
      @topcatmulchers3802  Год назад +1

      Michael, if you are referring to right side as you sit in the skid steer - the side with the drive belt - I removed the plug that was there and filled till it came out. If you mean the other side - left when viewed from seat in skid steer - mine was missing the plug - what I call the drain plug. I bought replacement plugs here ... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088K59GRF/ . Then filled until the oil came out the vent hole in center. Does that make sense?

    I had the belt tensioner get loose on mine and throw a belt. The tensioning nut on the allthread rod got loose so I went back with a jam nut to keep the other nut from backing off

    • @topcatmulchers3802
      @topcatmulchers3802  6 месяцев назад

      Yep. I think that is the main reason for failed belts... maybe. I got lucky, during a some maintenance I pulled the side cover off and discovered the tensioner was coming loose on mine and the belt was starting to wander of the edge. Caught it just in time. So, keeping an eye on that could be important

    • @topcatmulchers3802
      @topcatmulchers3802  2 года назад

      Scott,
      the plugs used on the fan was not specific to my skid steer. I got them from amazon.
      The plug used at the fan and just before the 14 pin connector to connect the fan cable...
      www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FJPMML6
      The cable used to complete the run for the fan ....
      www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09FSYGGKX
      The 14 pin connector appears to be a standard used on many skid steer brands.
      For the 14pin connector check here...

    As a 35 year hydraulic man I noticed you used Teflon tape on your fitting that's a big no no! Hydraulics systems has check valves and other things in them you could have major system failures. Ref. Muncie pump manufacturer call them if you would please. It all belongs to you it will be your money not mine! Have a good day.

      I should also have asked do you think I should take it apart and remove the teflon tape? I am assuming that particles of the tape could end up in my skid steers hydraulic system causing big issues?

    I can't seem to find a place to change the couplers on the hoses. I need it to fit a bobcat. What size hoes would that be? I'm I asking wrong. I even took the hoes to several shops and they said they didn't have the couplers to fit the hoes.

    • @topcatmulchers3802
      @topcatmulchers3802  23 дня назад

      I was not able to change the couplers. the treads on the hoses were BSP and no couplers would fit. I found a hydraulic hose shop that re-terminated them with new treaded ends that were compatible to U.S. standards.

      @topcatmulchers3802  Год назад

      Greg,
      Two possible places.
      Titan attachments.. I am fairly certain this is the same as the top cat, but you would need to check with them on the specs for the belt. The mulcher on their site now is different than the very "top cat" like unit. Which I documented on my site.
      www.palletforks.com/skid-steers/forestry-equipment/forestry-drum-mulcher-replacement-belt/191626.html
      Then there is AGT, which is without a doubt the TopCat
      agrotkindustrial.com/products/skid-steer-forestry-drum-mulcher
      On this page is a parts list ...
      cdn.shopifycdn.net/s/files/1/0254/7924/9971/files/SSFM.png?v=1673590866
      The problem with AGT is they take a long time to get back to you.
      Hope that helps, please let me know what you find out, I imagine some day I will need a new belt as well..

    It would be great if you could make the video , mentioning the positive and negatives . Without having to relate your negative experiences with the Auctions . Make the video referencing the product . And keep the focus on that . Put it to the test .

      Josen, Thank you for that feedback. I do realize that some of my videos are about "buying" the mulcher. Then, most are about issues I have encountered, but I have been thinking that I am beating up on the unit a lot and not pointing out the up side aka positives. I have video and notes on last mulching job that I am actually pretty pleased with and thought I should take some time to edit and post. Thanks for reminding me that should be done.
