I have been following this from HK News source. Coco battled breast cancer last year. She had a major surgery earlier this year and had to learn to walk again. Her husband is a jerk who continually cheats on her. Her stepdaughters are not on her side. Just these things are A LOT. She was always smiling and super positive. According to her sister, Coco talked about wanting to help another HK singer Joyce Cheng, who was MIA (rumors this singer had depression and folks were worry about her mental state of mind) the morning of her death. Her sister also had noticed something was off and the family was trying to watch her. Coco went to her room after lunch and when they found her later that day it was already too late. Coco is a great person. This year would have been her 30th anniversary being in the entertainment industry. I can’t imagine all the stuff she had to go through professionally and personally. Coco had helped her husband and connected him to people. He’s a fake billionaire. He was not by her side during her recovery from illness and surgery. Rumors are 52nd divorce was supposed to be finalized this month. You can see his true colors when he tries to fight Coco’s will. Coco makes a lot of money than him. She’s wants to leave properties to her mom who is 86. It’s her money and Bruce wants it all for himself. He’s a scumbag.

Thank you for information. Do you know if she had some sadness or regret that she could not have a child or baby with her ex? So this may have caused some of her depression???

Stop blaming the husband. Coco knew he was married when she got with him she didn't want to marry him obviously because he was already married so he divorced the wife than married her. She's not so innocent. Like the saying goes if they'll cheat with you they'll cheat on you. The stepdaughters had the right to not be by her side, coco literally broke up their parents marriage. How do you face somebody like that. Women don't hurt women right

@@cafezo87934 wow. if you married someone who has a history of beating his spouse and suffers abuse, it's your fault!? he was married when they met. outsiders don't know the circumstance (the marriage could have already deteriorated at that point, who knows). coco and bruce did not marry until many years later.
i did not BLAME him. he, along with her health issues, was listed among the many circumstances in coco's life that contributed to her depression.
he is fake billionaire. he does not have as much money as people think. he is trying to contest coco's will which leaves her real estates to her mom and sisters. only a jerk would do that do add more pain to her family after her passing.
coco was a great person and just do not deserve him. he was not with her during her battle with cancer or her major surgery earlier this year. he is proofing this to be true by his own actions.

@@Don_40 Yes. She tried IVF many times and was not successful. IVF is very painful and I am sure that contributed to her deteriorated mental state. BY THE WAY - Bruce is not "legally" her ex as they never finalized the divorce. HK media says that was supposed to happen this month. They are still legally married.

Thank you for talking about our CoCo. She was definitely the MARIAH of her era and field though. Those vocals are unmatched and she opened up the doors for so many soloists to come though doing r&b in Mandarin and Cantonese. She will be forever missed.

@karinneeskens I disagree- she came out long before them and her vocal skills and levels of innovation were more comparable to Mariah and Toni Braxton- those were her peers. Brit Brit and Xtina would be little sisters to her. I've been a fan of CoCo since the mid 90s.
However all of this isn't really a big deal because she's no longer with us. A true legend, regardless of language or nationality.

I've been following Coco since 1998. Not having a father left a huge void in her heart. This made her want to get that love from the world. She found a man much older for that father figure. In her mind the 2 daughters Bruce Rockowitz had and herself balanced out her 2 sisters and her single mom (3 girls and a mom was now 3 girls with a dad). She felt she could find that security there. I grew up with friends without their father and even both parents. It really affected them in a negative way. I'm actually super proud of Coco Lee of how she fought so far in life. That hole in her heart left from her late father never got filled.

Some of the comments here tell me how much Asians misunderstand mental health. Mental illnesses are disorders of the brain and can be influenced by issues in people's lives. You never tell a person going through cancer treatment to "just get over it" or "not seek treatment." Also, athletes and high achievers do struggle with mental health because it's not uncommon that their self-worth is tied to their performance and outcomes. It's not about being weak. SMH, we have a long way to go in addressing mental health issues in the Asian community. RIP Coco, a talented trailblazer.

I work with the government regarding mental health. One of the questions that I constantly ask is if he or she has had any thoughts of SI in the past or present and if he or she has ever tried to take their life than go from there to see what that person needs on an individual basis, etc. Generally, the individual will be honest since I cut out the beating around the bush malarkey that helps no one.

Professionals are trained to help people navigate mental health issues. It's really strange to me that you would seem to deter people from getting that kind of help.
David, your passion for your work is always clear. You always research the topics you speak about. And that is greatly appreciated.
I really hope next time you touch on such a sensitive topic, you can research it and actually provide meaningful conversations around it.
I couldn't finish the video as it felt too insensitive for me. I don't personally struggle with such thoughts.

Something has to be done regardless. If counseling were effective then everybody talk their problems out. Any action has their consequences and side effects. The pharmaceutical companies has a bad rap for not disclosing the potential for co-dependence and addiction of a lot of their psycho-tropic medicines. But if a certain medicine could have prevented a person taking their own life then the lesser evil is always preferable.

The entertainment industry has never been conducive to longevity. It's an anomaly rather than the norm for ultra rich, well known celebs to walk out with their full sanity intact. The rockstar lifestyle is not a healthy upbringing in terms of the impact on one's mental faculties. If you look at the history of all the stars that ended up deleting themselves whether it be from the likes of Hollywood, K-pop, etc., the recipe of fame, money, sex, recreational drugs, it tends to lead to tragic outcomes.
