Elden Ring Rune Boost Guide; All Rune Boosting Mechanics Explained. Increase Runes Gained Now!

- Runes are both money and XP in Elden Ring, and they are used for leveling up, buying items from merchants, and consumables. Runes are also a player’s EXP and currency for Merchants. You will drop any runes in your possession at the site of your death. If you die again before reclaiming those runes, they will be lost forever, so its important to not only know where to farm infinite runes, but also how to boost the amount you get from enemies (Golden Scarab and Gold Pickled Fowl Foot being the meta go to).
There are some ways to increase your rune gains in Elden Ring. One is to equip the Gold Scarab talisman, which increases your rune gains by +20% when equipped. The other is to consume the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot, which gives you a boost of +30% for a limited time. Using them both gives you the biggest bonus - and makes farming for runes even better.
The falling erdtree leaves are a gameplay secret in Elden Ring, that take the form of a random weather effect. The Erdtree is a sacred tree that contains the souls and bodies of the Tarnished, the heroes who seek to unite all the shards and restore the Elden Ring. The falling erdtree leaves are also a buff that you can get on certain nights, when you get a 17% bonus runes from all enemies. There have been instances where I've received 17% and other instances where I've got less than 17%, but unclear as to why there is a fluctuation.

Other mechanics like Overkill and the 5% Multiplayer bonus also lend to increases in Rune Farming. There are also weapons like the Celebrant weapons from the Dominula Windmill Village, but they seem pretty gimmicky when it comes to farming runes seriously.

I actually just made the cards in photoshop since I thought it was a fun new way to present items, monsters, weapons etc. within the videos (since genre fits). With Shadow of the Erdtree coming out in June, I figured I’d do some 2024 videos covering all the important topics like Rune Farming weapons and builds….but an official TCG game would be pretty sweet lol. @whatwasmyname Believe it or not, you inspired me to take a couple of weeks to create some cool looking art for the cards instead of using just the game graphic / screen shots (Patches, Nerjius, Clean Rot Knights, Firefly). Wanted to have a character in between 125-150 that’s completed everything in the game and is dialled in build wise by DLC launch. Will be pushing out a few more videos that pertain to DLC prep in the future. To make your run to the boss that drops the scarab more survivable, if you can, beat the black knight horse boss that drops Bloodhound Step. It gets you across the Scarlet Rot quickly and if you practice the run, by the time you get to the bosses (there are two of them) the scarlet rot should wear off. I was able to get this scarab in the first 10 hours of my play-through on level 34 with a level 4 greatsword.
If you sprint jump, time it without getting hit by the rot geysir, then backstep to the nearest platform you won't be inflicted by the rot.

Thank you for your excellent and professional walkthrough I am subscribing to you because you explain the strategy in a very excellent and short manner not like some assholes come on RUclips and show off and walk through the whole area for a half or hour before thay even show you what you are looking for. Thank you very much you helped me a lot one question can you finish the whole entire game and then go to the new downloadable content shadow of the erdtree or do I play halfway through the game and then go to the new downloadable content

You can finish 99.99% of the game, but instead of choosing an ending at the end….just fast travel to Mohgwyn’s place and you can start the DLC without having to do it in NG+. It’s actually more enjoyable that way, since NG+ increases the difficulty and health pools of all the DLC bosses. So once you beat the Elden Beast, DO NOT chose an ending. Then you can use the sacred relic sword to farm some runes before then as well 😜. Stay safe out there, and Good Hunting!
Okay I understand finish 99% of the game and then I can go to downloadable content in other words I can kill the boss before the final boss but don't go NO further correct ?? in other words don't kill that jelly boss LOL ???@mid40sgamer
@larrymoses9529 Elden Ring is like all other FromSoftware games. Once you beat the final boss you’ll have a choice to make depending on all your choices and completed side quests during your playthrough. Instead of making you’re ending choice and turning over to NG+, you can instead just fast travel out and continue either cleaning up what you missed in the Lands Between, or you can just head into the DLC.

It was between ER and Final Fantasy Remake, and ER won.
@fnogpancakes4303 There will be some frustrating times, but there is a profound satisfaction when you finally beat a boss that killed you 20 times over. It’s easily one of my all time favourite games.
Nice guide. Here's a few more additions:
1. The best place to farm fowl feet is actually not by the beach, but rather at the "Below the Well" site of grace in the Siofra River. You can reach it by going down the well in Limgrave and just going north, or by going down the well in Liurnia to arrive at it immediately. The latter is probably the easier option since you don't have to deal with the snipers that way, but it requires a Stonesword Key. The reason this place is better is becase there's a bunch of birds sitting right next to the site of grace, which not only cuts down on travel time for each farming run, but also makes it viable to use silver fowl feet to increase drop rates since you don't need to fast travel back to the grace after every run.
2. Cleanrot Knights are extremely weak to fire. So either use fire weapons, fire pots, or buy the flame incantation from Corhyn at the Round Table to make the fight a hell of a lot easier. Flame Sling is probably the best option for this fight and requires 10 Faith, which you can easily get to with any starting class by simply equipping the Two Fingers Heirloom. Also, if you get Quick Step or Bloodhound Step (by cheesing the Night's Cavalry at Lenne's Rise) you can get through the rot swamp much more quickly and safely.
@nineflames2763 Thanks for the additions, appreciate it. I also use a spot near the first step for foot farming. If you make a left from Varre as you spawn in you can head down towards the Troll and there are two stone structures with 8-10 birds on each one. There’s a lot of different ways to go about doing stuff which is what I love about Elden Ring (and open world games in general). You don’t HAVE to “jump torrent across” to get to the abandoned cave. There’s actually a branch you can use as a bridge that leads right to the cave.

Another great place is if you make a left at White Mask Varre at the First Step and you travel down towards the beach, there are a ton of birds perched on the stone platforms. does leveling up increase runes received? or d you have go keep going into NG +?
@LicencedGunn Every time you turn over an NG+ the runes received from enemies increases (so do their HP, Damage, Resistance, etc.). Just leveling up has no effect on rune increase. Hope that helps. Stay safe out there brother, and as Always…Good Hunting!

@LicensedGunn Anytime. Doing the same thing here, just working a few new builds to stage for DLC. All other characters are NG+, so making a new one that’s not NG+ since FromSoftware DLCs are unforgiving lol.
Your better off getting the Fowl feet from the grace beside the bridge to Redmane Castle. There's 3 of them right beside the grace site.
@_shivers You could definitely grab those initially too, there’s also one near where Sellen is up on the hill by the 3 soldiers. The reason I showed it this way is because once you unlock the Bird and the Hill Rune farms, it’s nice to have the ability to just crafts them yourself. is there any way to get more runes from using remebrances?

@lieroushenry You mean Mild Mannered Pate? Pate was actually a replacement for patches. It's worth noting that Patches doesn't actually appear in Dark Souls 2, which is also the only entry in the series that is not directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. @zanerumancik7859 Just turn his Bell Bearing into the twin maiden husks in round table hold. You’ll still get the stuff you need for leveling, you just won’t get to finish up his questline.
