  • A 5E or 5C error code indicates that the Samsung washing machine has detected a drainage issue. The most common reasons for this error are: A blocked filter or a kinked drain hose.
It is important to clean the drain pump filter regularly to ensure the smooth running of the machine.
Follow these steps to clean the drain pump filter.
    1) Locate the small access door on the front of the washing machine. Get ready to collect any water that may come out of the washing machine. Place a towel on the floor in front of the washing machine and have a shallow dish nearby
    2) Press firmly on the access door on the front of the washing machine or use a coin to open the door depending on your washing machine model
    3) Pull out the emergency drain hose and position the spout over the dish. Remove the cap and let the water flow out into the dish until it stops flowing. Replace the cap on the emergency drain hose and secure it properly back in position
    4) Rotate the drain filter anti-clockwise to remove it from the housing. Remove any debris from the filter and wash it in warm water to clean it properly. Wipe the drain pump filter recess with a damp cloth. Replace the drain pump filter and rotate it clockwise to lock it in place. Close the access door
If your machine is having trouble draining, it is important to check that the drain hose has been installed correctly. If the drain hose is connected through a spigot, follow these steps to check that your drainpipe is correctly positioned and installed. A spigot is a valve on another pipe.
    1) Make sure that you have removed or cut off the blanking cap
    2) Check that the drain hose is pushed onto the spigot correctly and if there is a hose clip on the pipe, check that it is screwed on correctly
    3) Check that there are no kinks or bends in the drainpipe
If the drain hose is connected through a standpipe, follow these steps to check that your drainpipe is correctly positioned and installed
    1) Make sure that the hose is correctly positioned and secured using the hose clips and that the drain hose is at least 60 cm above the floor
    2) Check that the standpipe covers the drain hose completely
    3) Make sure that no more than 150 mm of the drain hose is in the standpipe
    4) Check that there are no kinks or bends in the drain pipe

Owned machine for about 6 years, never checked the filter until the error code. Wow. I shall clean it more often going forward. Its a great washing machine BTW.

I have just had a 5C code showing, I removed the filter to find two colour catcher sheets in there, been using them a few weeks now so will put them in the net bag and see how it goes.

      Did you figure it out

@@43Athira I kind of figured it out. The problem was, that the water was not draining. After opening the back plastic panel, I manually pulled the piston to drain out the water. I then noticed that there is a metal cable (similar to a bicycle brake cable) that was attached to the piston and the machine would tug at this cable and pull the piston away thus draining the water. This cable had come undone from the latch on the piston (probably when I manually operated the piston last time to fully remove all water). I re-attached the cable into the latch and the machine was good to do the pumping it self. Most likely, your cable is broken or has come out of its latch or the machine is unable to pull at the cable.
