Thanks for the pains you have gone to filming this in detail and the information shared here. I have a very tired example of this model that gets regular use in 20 yrs of ownership. This will be an invaluable recourse when I come to rejuvenate it, Subscribed.
Thank you for your comment! It's really good to know that my videos are helpful. After all, this is their purpose! Let me know when you need any help with yours!
@@ChrisSofos Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Not being a mechanic myself, you make look a lot less daunting than going in cold. Mid 80's was my formative yrs for bike ownership. i had a VF750 F then the first VFR750. I always admired the early GSXR's, after having a ride on a friends slab side it kinda put me off, so I was surprised that I liked my test ride on a second hand Slingshot. It's also the best looking GSXR in my opinion, well second to the 1989 RR model.
Replace the soft link cam chain and cam chain tensioner just to be safe👍 the bike i have here needs doing as well and there is a slight leak coming from the rocker cover bolt seal
Hey bro, what oil do you use for breaking in the engine after honning the cylinders and installing new piston rings??im doing my fzr 1000 now and wanted a second opinion o this!thank you!
Hi there. I'm using mineral oil. Not synthetic or semi-synthetic. Mineral oil is the best for engine breaking in. Apparently, it helps the piston rings to sit better on the cylinder walls. I used the 10w40 Bel-Ray mineral oil for my FZR1000. Keep up the good work!
Probably nothing, but when you want to sell this bike for big backs, you must have a solid proof that everything is brand new in there. Plus...it's fun to work with it! ☺️
I understand your explanation Chris but a rebuild like this can get very expensive have u weighed up the benefits of the rebuild vs the money you’re likely to get from the bike with rebuilt engine or not rebuilt engine you’re right tho it is good to watch the rebuild
@@karlvanboxel561 oh man!!! I did the calculations many times. It's still worth it! On the other hand, I want to do everything as perfect as I can before it's handed to the next person 😊
Man, I just bought 1990 gsxr750 oil cooled with 80 000 km. I'm going to rebuild it, and your videos are amazing. Thank you!
Thank you! They are great motorcycles with amazing handling!!!!
All the best with your restoration 👍

I'll follow your advice. Thank you!!!
@@ChrisSofos the cam chain tensioner does become a problem. The timing chain these are fairly reliable but if it lets go this can be expensive👍
