The Garden is Looking Rough! | How Did We Do in August?

- Every year when it is getting closer to putting the garden to bed I think I will do a fall garden and then I don't. I do want to plant some cover crops and that makes it hard if my ground has produce in it. I will re-evaluate a fall garden next year.
We have gotten some great harvests and I am so happy that the numbers are even bigger than last year, minus the pumpkins of course!
Here is the link to the #everybitcountschallenge that kept me so busy in August... • #everybitcountschallen...
And here is a link to my last garden tour. Things sure have changed!... • June Garden Tour 2024 ...
I hope your gardens are doing well! Let me know what you will do differently next year. Maybe it is a change I should consider as well.
Blessings on all of you until next time!
Penny

Greetings from Germany!
🧡🌞🤗🌻🌿 ...
Welcome! How exciting! Thank you so much for watching and for commenting! I hope to hear from you again soon. Blessings on your week! 😁🤗🇩🇪
Love your garden updates! What a beautiful morning in KS - I'm having weather envy for the true fall morning temps!!! I've never heard of nadapenos but those sound terrific to me. Blessings to you for a wonderful fall season.
Hi Shari! I woke up this morning to 46°F. I couldn’t believe it. It’ll warm up a little bit this next week, but it is beautiful! I’ve been working on a project under the carport that includes water being sprayed so I kind of wish it were a little warmer! Don’t we always want what we don’t have? 🤦♀️
Then nadapenos are great because I don’t do heat, but I like the flavor. They’re not quite big enough to make a jalapeño popper with so I found a recipe for a jalapeño popper dip that I’m anxious to try.
Have a great week, my friend! 😁❤️
You are such an inspiration my friend. ❤😊love your truth❤😊 those jalapeños 🌶 plants are beautiful
Thank you so much, Holly! I am always so happy to hear from you. I hope you are doing well my friend! Blessings! 😁❤️
This is the first year I've had squash bugs and they were awful.
Oh Roberta! They are the worst!!!! I am sorry you got them. Blessings on the rest of your garden! 😁
You did great ❤😊
Thanks so much, sweet friend! I appreciate your encouragement! ❤️
It is amazing how all our gardens take on the wild look at the end of season...just tons to do!
I make you Italian dehydrated tomato slices...oh my so good!! I am having issues with the cheese staying on slices when putting them in jars. Do you have any tips or tricks?
That is a problem. I actually was thinking when I make them again I might try spritzing the whole thing with the oil on top of the cheese and stuff and see if that would work. I just try to lay them down in my storage container with the cheese size up very carefully. I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed them though! I knew you would if you tried them. Blessings on your week sweet Mary!
Your garden still looks great! What is that behind the screen door?
Thanks, Lisa! You mean the door behind me when I am tallying up my harvest? That’s just a little screen door that somebody gave me and I’m not sure what to do with it yet so I just have it sitting there. Thanks for watching and for your kind words! Blessings until next time! 😁
@@OpenHandFarm Hi Penny, I'm talking about the golden ornament. It looks like a Menorah. Is that what it is? However, it's very tall to be a Menorah.
@@OpenHandFarm My daughter loves a screen door.
@lisanorris6518 I’m not sure what you are seeing. Can you tell me the time of the video when you see it? Now I am real curious! 😁
@@OpenHandFarm 26:07 behind the screen door and welcome sign.
As much as I would love to be your neighbor - you wouldn't move here as we have tons of squash bugs, also. Sorry! Loved your mailbox storage for those things you always forget to take with you. I do the same, so will be using your trick AND spraying for black widows! I don't want to stick my fingers in gloves that provide them a home. Love you!
Oh Mary, that makes me sad that we can’t be neighbors now. Maybe we just be neighbors and buy squash instead of growing it. 🤣🤣🤣 don’t worry, I stomp all over my gloves before I put them on even if they’ve just been in my basement. You never know. 🤷♀️ i’m glad that you gained an idea from watching today. Thank you for watching and as always thank you for commenting! Love you too, friend!
@@OpenHandFarm You made me laugh right back! I can just imagine you dancing on top of your gloves like me. LOL
@iartistdotme 🤣🤣🤣 I love you friend! ❤️
Hey Penny. I just love seeing you totting up your harvest amounts!
I love the look of that Welcome sign behind you, what is it welcoming you to?!😚
@livingthegoodlifeinwales Hi Louise! Thanks so much! The sign was given to me by a friend. It says “Welcome to My Garden”. I am trying to figure out where to hang it 😁
