This band left a permanent stamp on the history of music. Defined the 90s as much as anyone, but their legacy will endure. This band will never feel ‘dated’ IMHO.
@@johnphillipsjr7238 I don't know if I'd say they're underrated, but they're overshadowed by Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and probably Soundgarden too, by a good bit.
Harri, you hit the nail on the head describing Layne Staley's voice as powerful. But what also made this band special were the harmonies with Jerry Cantrell. I agree with everyone who said you should check out songs from their Unplugged appearance. I watch those videos a lot and I would start with "Down In A Hole". Thanks for the reaction.
@@wentibbetts7833 Thanks to all for liking my comment. It only works so far though. I couldn't think of a grunge Stones or a grunge Who. give it a shot.
Thirty-three (33) years ago in June 1991, I saw Alice In Chains open The Clash of The Titans tour at the Philadelphia Spectrum with Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer 🤘! AIC was awesome that night and still one of the best concerts I've ever been to. RIP Layne Staley and Philadelphia Spectrum
I was lucky enough to see them open for Van Halen and it was just when this song had come out. R I P LAYNE 💔 If you haven't you need to check out their MTV unplugged performances especially nutshell
@@darrendixon3191 yeah it was very cool of course we didn't know back then what we know now so I kind of wish I would have appreciated it a little bit more back then if you know what I mean
I think this is the first AiC song I ever heard, and I remember hearing it. It came on Mtv and I had the same problem with it that I do now. The volume just won't go loud enough. I've liked everything they ever released and I actually got to see them once in Atlanta before Layne died. I'm very glad I did too. Layne was in bad shape, but you'd never know it from how he sounded.
My neighbors high school buddy Brian Carlstrom recorded this album and also "Dirt" for the band. He said they partied their butts off but were all business when it was time to play. RIP Brian.
Alice in Chains definitely knew how to bring it especially with this song. I'm standing here not tapping my toes but just about stomping my foot. Harri, you nailed it.
You should do reaction on the live at the Moore Man in the Box. Really just the whole Moore show is one of the greatest live performances by anyone. Love hate love, bleed the Freak and many more great songs. Layne is electric at the Moore. Layne is really top 5 best singers ever.
AIC was and will always be my favorite band , Layne Staley is great missed and Mike Starr the bass player who left the band in 1993 but died years later as well .
I was fortunate enough to see Nirvana live on Halloween night in 1993. Had never seen so much flannel in my life. With what happened the next year, I considered myself lucky for that show. But I never saw Alice In Chains in concert. I would have loved to. And now with lead singer Layne Staley gone, awesome tracks like this are what remains.
Wanna see this guys incredible range on full display? Watch his performance @ The Moore singing "Bleed the Freak!" You will be dumbfounded like everyone else was the first time they experience that performance! Layne Staley is one of the top ten GOATS in Rock. Your welcome in advance Harri!
Iv got the alice chains sun from inside the DIRT record sleeve tattooed on on my arm...., u gotta check out the self titled 3-legged dog album, now thats the real sh**...

Yes indeed! RIP LS 🙏🏻
RIP Layne "Thomas" Staley; August 22, 1967 - April 5, 2002.
Their whole Unplugged performance/album is amazing. 👌🏼
Alice In Chains sooo underrated!! Great power and powerful voice! RIP Lane Staley❤️💜
Who underrated them?? 🤦♂️🤡🥴

Nirvana were the Beatles of grunge - these guys were the Led Zeppelin.
I love your analogy!!! Great way to put it. So true!!
I think you're on to something🤔
Great perspective!! 😊

They were incredible live - watch the Live at the Moore performance - Man in the box; Love Hat Love etc
Absolutely love this group!! 🎉
There’s a live version from the Moore theater that’s incredible.
My favorite band! Epic '90's band!
I love this song!!! I didn't know all the lyrics. Once I learned the lyrics this song is so much more thought provoking!

Well said Harri! AIC was the sh#$. My son lived in Seattle and one day saw Layne going into a 7-11. He will never forget that moment.
Loved that you loved this Harry!
"Jesus Christ, Deny your maker, He who tries, Will be wasted. "
I love that lyric.
This song live at the Moore theater is incredible.
Great reaction! This singer and group are THE best of the best!
Love Hate Love Live at the Moore is a must watch. You need to watch this band live. One of the best live bands ever. Layne is the GOAT.
Unfortunately the darkness that took singer Layne Staley was drugs. RIP
Or maybe he wanted to get wasted
Hi Harri. Layne was one of the greatest rock n roll singers!!! IMO. SO UNIQUE. RIP LAYNE AND MIKE
Check out Love Hate Love, live at the Moore. Layne's voice is amazing!
✌❤
“Love, Hate, Love” live at the Moore. Enough said🔥
You summed the '90's pretty well.
Excellent pick and reaction.

Love AIC. RIP Mike and Layne.
Grunge was late in the story of rock, but the hits were masterful. Some top tier voices, for sure.

Rest In Power Layne.❤
Layne was an amazing singer. RIP
I saw them play in a bar in 92 and Lollapalooza in 93. Best live band I've ever seen. Fishbone is a close 2nd tho.
Your perception of a darkness about him is spot-on. That's an incredible sadness you're seeing.
One of the defining songs of grunge, really. RIP Layne Staley.

I seen them in concert back in 1992 not too bad for a grunge band getting billed with slayer megadeth anthrax at clash of the titans

Too bad this version is censored
Layne was the best
Chunkiest riffs this side of the Rockies. Unfortunate that it's the censored version.
You found the censored version!
when music started to go wrong for me
thats a bummer dude
more like AIC was a speed bump in music's road to decline
It's not even their top 5 best song. Gotta do a deep dive if you loved this song.
