  • Here's another commercial from the 'Sindy' doll line from Marx Toys featuring "Cindy Brady" actress Susan Olsen - this one specifically for the "Complete Dining Room" playset (part of "Sindy's World") and also featuring their jingle. We get to see Susan Olsen again in a hairstyle approximating her "Cindy" curls. (by next year's ad she would be sporting a trendier "feathered" look: • Marx Toys - 'Sindy' Do... )
I had assumed they wanted to name the doll "Cindy" but couldn't due to issues with the people who owned the rights to the Brady Bunch - but actually the Sindy line of dolls have a long history and was a British brand, as popular there as Barbie was here: en.wikipedia.o...
"Sindy can be a friend..." (sure, she can be, if she wants to...)
This aired on local Atlanta TV (or via Cable) on Thursday, November 16th 1978 during the 4:00pm to 4:30pm (Eastern) timeframe.

I have the Sindy Dream House and all the furniture, tucked away in my parents' basement. I loved all the realistic accessories in the dining room set. To hold the place settings in place, I added placemats of double-sidded tape.

I own this particular Sindy. She's a nice product, pleasant to hold and to play with, with soft hair and a sweet face. It's a shame she wasn't a success stateside.

My grandmother had the ballet Sindy doll and I remember being so fascinated by her and would just stare at her and her artculation lol. I now have my own Sindy doll with beautiful long chestnut brown hair and rooted eyelashes. She has the blue overalls dress and the white blouse. I also have the flower dress that is shown in this commercial!

I had a Sindy...and for a 'retail doll' she was beautifully made, as were her accessories. 💖

I had her and I remember wanting her. I wonder now if I wanted her because Susan Olsen was in the commercial (huge Brady Bunch fan).

I was very young when I first saw this commercial, probably around 6, I remember my mother telling me that the doll was supposed to be Cindy from "The Brady Bunch". My mother probably said this because Susan Olsen the actress that played Cindy on the show was at the beginning of the commercial.

Susan has said in interviews that she hated wearing the pigtails on the show after she outgrew them. I bet she really hated wearing them for this commercial, but that's obviously what the director wanted to do in order for viewers to identify her with

She might have hated it, but no doubt she cashed the paycheck she was given for doing this.

These 2 commercials with Sue Olsen are insanely rare. Everyone on the BB did commercials, even Alice and Sam. I am trying to find the infomercial that Florence Henderson did sometime in the late '90s or early '00s for the pressure cooker set.

realistic and not pink sindy was the uks most popular fashion doll for nearly 3 decades her houses accessories were just like real life cookers that worked and made noises and stereo units with radios that worked such detail

Wonder why they gave the Doll the porn name version SINdy. Why not CINDY, the way that Susan Olsen's character's name was actually spelled?

No doubt copyright. I suppose Sherwood Schwartz had rights to the names of the characters from his show.

Because Sindy is a British doll released in 1963 and was the leading fashion doll in the UK until Barbie's popularity exploded in the 1990s. She was released in the US in 1978. Sindy dolls existed long before the Brady Bunch existed.

“Graig,” “Marsha,” “Peeter,” “Jann,” and “Bobbie” sold separately...and not in any way financially obligated to Sherwood Schwartz or Paramount Studios. Also, what the hell does one lonely doll need with a complete dining set for 4? Encourage your child to get to the bottom of that mystery and imagine the origin of her SIN! Does Sindy break into other doll houses and steal whatever isn’t nailed down? Or did she murder the other 3 dolls she used to live with?

I, for one, envied Sindy. Her accessories and furniture were made with an attention to detail that is seldom seen anymore in doll products within the Mattel-and-its-knockoffs price range.

I don't at all like the "S" spelling. The name, normally beginning with "C" is part of it's charm. This is the earlier commercial with Olsen, The other came about a year later.
