“Keep being creative. Keep creating these worlds, and maybe one day we’ll learn to protect the one we’re in.” I love that quote, and hope that for all of us. He gave an amazing performance. 😊
@@gabrielripw0lf293 I was thinking the same thing. I had a feeling of anxiety through this whole speech and I think the lasting impression of the most recent Game Awards left on me. They didn't blink messages at him to hurry up, they didn't start playing exit music prematurely, they didn't give two thirds of the time to paid promotions. They just let us take in the celebration. Neil Newbon looked like he had a gun trained on him at the Game Awards. He was on and off the mic in the space of a minute. He did well but you can tell from multiple things that he said that he was too flustered from the time constraints to compose himself and remember everything that he wanted to say. I would say poor guy, but the reason he was up there were reasons we are all proud of for him.
@@Cooperal yeah man the whole show was about the new upcoming releases and not about rewarding the devs, the company, the actors that put the effort to make this gorgeous games. If money is problem with this kind of of show, maybe next time just host it home and that's it. That was a spit in the face for everyone that was there. Imagine wining game of the year and suddenly you see on the screen to hurry up. They didn't have a proper chance to announce the xbox release as well.
Its so great to see, but the people that watch this actually cares about the industry and the art of it. There so many that just want to see new releases
It's hard to impress people with villains these days, but Raphael is such a wonderful combination of dramatic, devilish charm and just the right amount of ridiculous that I never felt bored listening to him. Applause!
It's a sort of return to classics. Every now and then we have to dial back, rewind and perfect what was before so that we can continue in further creative stuff and to refresh our pallete as well. Honestly when it comes to art in the public view, throughout history it's like a cycle of: "This is the style -> We hate the style, we make our style with blackjack an hookers -> y'know retro sounds fun----" and then it keeps going back around and around. It's kinda fun.
The fact they didn't have his song ready to play him in was a missed opportunity, but so glad he won. Raphael was an amazing character with an incredible performance :)
Major congrats to him. If anyone doesn't know, he's a prolific audiobook narrator, so if you can't get enough Raphael, there's always that (Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn would be a place to start, imo lol)
So well-deserved, BG3 was a clear game of the year and Raphael was the most memorable character for me, on my third play through now and he’s the only one I wouldn’t dare skip any dialogue for!
By far the toughest fight on BG3 for me and it happened to be earlier today when I was streaming. One of my viewers told me he won the award as I was in the middle of the battle with him.
It was the highlight of Christopher Judge's career, so I don't blame him at all. Also he played it off really well a year after the fact. Such a cool guy.
Congratulations to Andrew! His voice & performance were absolutely spot on for the character he played, Raphael is captivating & charismatic, really enjoyed playing this game what a gem
Big congrats to Mr. Wincott. I remember him from games like Nexus: The Jupiter Incident and The Witcher 1, lots of smaller projects where he always stood out.
I was honestly never so stoked and excited for anyone winning an award, than I was for Andrew! I've had the privilege to interview him a week before the BAFTAS and I can only say that he's an incredibly nice, humble and funny guy and I'm so proud of him for receiving all the recognition that he deserves! He just absolutely rocked it as Raphael!
Im so happy for him!!! Raphael is my favourite character, he steals every scene he's in, i cannot think of a single line that could be performed better, he aced them all! I hope he enjoys his success and i hope we can see him in many different roles to come ^^
I love this man for what he did for Baldur's Gate 3. Really just a pleasure to listen to him. I've played the game a few times, but I can never skip Raphael's dialogue it would be like eating a world class scone in one bite, such a waste, you have to savor this man's performance.
He really brought Raphael to life. Such a magnificent bastard, with the character simply oozing from every uttered sentence. Such elaborate sentences, and yet not a single word is superfluous. Fantastic work all-round. What a voice.
I remember when i first met Raphael, the first thing that came to mind was the voice acting, it was nothing like I've ever experienced before, like another level. He deserved every award won.
I’ve been WAITING for him to get an award for this role! Finally, he gets his time in the spotlight for it! Raphael is one of my fave bg3 characters, solely due to his voice ❤
This man could sell me on anything. What an absolutely delightful performance. He really was the first portrayal of a devil who felt truly devilish, and you actually find yourself being tempted by him.
Many years i tryed to find the name of an actor from "Broken Sword"s trailer. All these years i believed that it was legendary Vincent Price(voice from the Triller of MJ). So today i finally found this HIDEN GEM from my unforgetable expirience with Broken Sword Adventures. Great thanks to Andrew Wincott for BS and BG Raphael's voice.
"I don't know how many years it has been - since my first session in this game" One of us! One of us! ❤ Raphael is one of the most iconic, best bits in the game and I have been waiting for Andrew to get a well-deserved reward for being absolutely legendary, iconic even!
Out of the entire cast his character is actually my favorite. Raphael is such an excellent villain that it is remarkable, his voice acting couldn't have sold this character any more. Truly outstanding performance, worth every award
Raphael is my favorite villain of all time, and Andrew 100percent deserved that award, for bringing our favorite devil to life, thank you very much and congratulations!
Mr Wincott, sir.. i have to tell you that i am *OBSESSED* with Raphael 😂 thank you for bringing him to life~ imagine me diving into BG3 for Astarion but ended up liking Raphael's theatrics, enjoying his narcissism and loving his (your beautiful) voice.. then one day, someone-a friend who doesn't play BG3-showed me Raphael's fanart and said to me "hey, that's the devil you are obsessing over, right??" and my response was " i am _OBSESSING_ over Raphael?!" 😂 and the rest is history.. it's been months and i am still not over Raphael so that confirms that fact, i guess lol and last but not least, Congratulations on winning~ i love how you started and ended your speech in Raphael's character.. and i could not stop myself from fawning over your own theatrics during your speech 😂 edit: oh yeah.. i forgot to mention this.. TIL that you did the mocap yourself too?! oh my~ thank you, i guess?? (gosh, i feel guilty and suddenly bashful 😂)
So freaking deserved, even though I was not personally a fan of how Raphael's arc and role seemed to be shortened/changed to a stump of what it could have/should have been, the voice acting was still so amazing for him at every point I hope he starts doing audiobooks, man, I would love to hear him read forgotten realms or 40k audiobooks ps. Pretty sure Sam and Max used voice acting way before Broken Sword or Tomb Raider, unlike what he said. And some other LucasArts games might have used them even before. I still remember being so excited for finally being able to find one of the first SoundBlaster sound cards for sale in my country, with a circuit that could play non-midi sounds. And the first game I tried it on, was Sam and Max that was fully voiced back in 1993 during DOS era!
You know, it never occurred to me that he did the mocap for Haarlep, as well, and now as I remember that scene...I seem to be having a bit of trouble breathing...
Oh I would love Christopher Lee and him in a project. Jesus - that would be awesome. Raphael was very well written and the acting was top noch. As he said - games came long way. They can be art - Larian studios showed it - Bioware used to show it...
They let him make a proper speech- the BAFTA Games Awards is awesome just for this
EXACTLY! At least they are respectful and don't play music in the middle of a speech like they did with Neil at the other award
This is a REAL games award show.
“Keep being creative. Keep creating these worlds, and maybe one day we’ll learn to protect the one we’re in.” I love that quote, and hope that for all of us. He gave an amazing performance. 😊
What's better then a devil you don't know a devil you do
No but what is this crazy thing, letting a person talk about the experience for 6 minutes! Insanity. Almost like we have a heart.
not like game awards 10 sec, not even that

I loved every scene with Raphael in it. His voice acting was top notch. Well deserved!
*Performance capture
sameeeee
Raphael is one of my favourite "villains" ever, his voice acting and writing and every single scene is just pure masterclass.
Hands down my favorite character in the game..
The fact they didn't have his song ready to play him in was a missed opportunity, but so glad he won. Raphael was an amazing character with an incredible performance :)
His voice is just butter.
Also thank you to the Baftas for letting these amazing people fucking TALK.

Even his speech was impressive, he speaks so confidently and smoothly even in front of all those people for that long XD so deserved!!
Isn't he so smooth? He has a great voice and he knows it.
So well-deserved, BG3 was a clear game of the year and Raphael was the most memorable character for me, on my third play through now and he’s the only one I wouldn’t dare skip any dialogue for!
Thank you giving this man time to speak. Every word he speaks just sounds legendary.
Congratulations Andrew, you brought Raphael to life with an amazing performance. Best voice in the business!
What an amazing speech, truly amazing.
Raphael easily became one of my favorite characters. Thanks to Andrew for bringing him to life
By far the toughest fight on BG3 for me and it happened to be earlier today when I was streaming. One of my viewers told me he won the award as I was in the middle of the battle with him.
Ohh, that just sounds epic!
i love watching BG3 family win stuff
so proud of them all.. one of the best games i have played in a VERY VERY VERY long time...
I'm most pleased that he got the award. (and the one for Borislav/Music)
The award win that made me the happiest! 😃
What a voice, what a talent and what a charming man!
Good for him! He truly deserves it. Such a talented voice actor. I hope this success gets him many, many more roles.
That 6 minute speech flew by! This man is so entertaining and has such a smooth voice
Well deserved
Even if he is contending with Cristopher Judge with the longest award speech of all time.
Long speech but very entertaining and quite in-character for Raphael
Long but entertaining and interesting.
We need more of those!
It's fine if you don't have Al Pacino standing on stage waiting for you to finish.
It was the highlight of Christopher Judge's career, so I don't blame him at all. Also he played it off really well a year after the fact. Such a cool guy.
Congratulations to Andrew! His voice & performance were absolutely spot on for the character he played, Raphael is captivating & charismatic, really enjoyed playing this game what a gem
ngl , best speech of that night
No contest
I could listen to him all day he deserved his bafta Congrats 🎉
He gave us an amazing performance and deserved that win ❤

Fantastic, a well deserved award. & I don't think I've ever listened to a more entertaining speech.
The quintessence of british charisma and manners.

I think of word "impeccable" when I hear him talk.
My favorite response was “until it was perfect”
I'm gonna do the Raphael ending now because of this!
Good one 😄
