    Please do another video when you replace the next headliner. I live in Canada and we simply don't have techs who are as experienced with this job. When the time comes for the replacement of my headliner, it will most likely have to be done by me, whether I want to do it or not.
    Thank you for you time and effort, it is really appreciated!
    Cheers

    This took us back to replacing the headlining in our Series 1 XJ6 about 30 years ago! Much easier with all the windows out (in and out through the windscreen) and no wiring to worry about!

    Of course the most challenging part gets ruined by that damned customer! 😡😂
    Well still a great video, thanks.

    Great video. Would have been nice to see how you got the new headliner in. I have a 2006 XJ8 with the same issue. I was just going to replace the material so I could leave the wiring attached. Might just go with thumbtacks.

      We can’t give all our secrets away I’m afraid… we have a living to make like everyone else. Thanks for watching the video though.
      Replacing the material is a total waste of time and money as if you are not accomplished in upholstering you will not ever get it to look right for a start, plus it will never stick properly or last any longer than the time it takes to close all the doors before parts of the both drop down again.
      Sorry to be truthful but the only way to do it right, not damage or devalue your car is to have a professional Jaguar headliner specialist like us replace the whole board for you.
      Save up and get the job done right first time and it will last the life of the car with the premium upgraded board. Not the rubbish from eBay.

    I live in the US and am looking to buy one of these, I reject cars from Florida thinking they've baked too much in the sun.
    Does Jaguar use bad adhesives? I had a beautiful 1984 XJ-S that was very nice but for the headliner. Jaguar has known of this problem for decades, you'd think they would've remedied the problem years ago.

      Most manufacturers don’t imagine or design cars to last above 10-15 years, all these old Jaguars have far exceeded there life expectancies so it’s TLC time now to keep them on the road and alive!
      It’s not just Jaguar, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Landrover, Ford… etc etc

    A very good informative video shame the customer disturbed you as I wanted to see the new one enter the car guessing you had to fold it too. As a skilled technician myself with 40 years under my belt we certainly have to be multi skilled 💪

    Interesting video. How did you fix in the wiring loom? Was it glued in or just laid in the channels. Vince

    • @themaltonmotorcompany5964
      @themaltonmotorcompany5964  Год назад +3

      We have some very strong, sticky, wide self adhesive tape, the loom gets fixed in position on the back of the board before the whole thing gets offered into position.
