This might be a bit much to say on an anatomy video, but I genuinely feel like there's still great people out there in the world when I watch your videos. Can be easy to forget that sometimes. Thank you Doctor Morton
You're a boon for step 1 exam prep or just any boards prep involving understanding of human anatomy. You get to the point with such simple approach which is easy to remember. A big thank you !!
wow,, it is amazing how you illustrate this topic in such an easy-to-understand way! I have been struggling with segment anatomy since weeks and your videos help me to get the overview of the main principles. Is there a software which I can use to illustrate the respective sklerotome, myotome and dermatome and enterotome and also the vessels along these groups of body parts of each segment in a kind of layered and group way?
I was trying to find an easy explanation to understand the vertebrae.. I just can’t explain how grateful I am with this video.. there’s no simple informative easy to memorize like this video.. thank you so much God bless you 😍
i met with like the key sensory point are: Elbow flexors : C5 Wrist Extensors:C6 Elbow Extensors: C7 Finger Flexors : C8 Finger Abductors Th1 Hip Flexors : L2 Knee Extensors L3 Ankle Dorsiflexors L4 Long Toe Extensors L5 Ankle plantar Flexors S1 Are they all right as well? or i mistaken smth?
How is it that in the simplified versions of myotomes c6 is stated as the main wrist flexor and c7 as the wrist extensor and then in the graph @8:53 the main myotome contributing to wrist flexion is said to be c7 (+c8) with minor input from c6 and and for wrist extension it is mostly c8 and some c7?
You are the best lecturer Ive ever seen, sinplifying all these complex stuff like theyre super easy to understand. Just want to say thank you, very much.
Super awesome video. I practice Sujok, and had come across a dermatome chart. Memorized it n Used it, and it gave beautiful results. Then I researched a little more and came across myotomes, then got really confused about whatswhat. Your video solved all my doubts brilliantly. Thank you so much.
I am really happy to have watched this video about myotomes. I am not a doctor neither I'm I in the practicing any sort of medical science. However, I find a strong correlation in my theories about the human cellular regeneration. When I coupled this principle with that of plants and sages of the past I became aware of certain rare principles not practiced by modern-day Christians, Jews and Muslims, but in smaller degrees the monks or masters in China and Japan still practice but not as detailed as the Torah and the Bible suggested we follow it. Thermodynamics first and second law is a life saver and I am beggining to connect the dots which a lot of people won't dare to research on cause cause they purely work in fragments due to how most of us were taught to learn how to think how to think 🤔. Thank you very much and everyone of you should stay inspired by the second law of thermodynamics.
If you continue this way, you may find you're not so special after all. My point is not yours. I sincerely urge to keep your thoughts to yourself else your own thoughts will give you night mares you will never tell or want to tell anyone. I am not here to thread blows with you unprofessionally. If you continue in this raging path you will find that you're only waking my ancestors whether you want to believe it or not. You've been told beforehand. Let me be.
Im a med student from the UK and just wanted to say thank you so much, you explained it so nicely and it’s making my life much easier than getting overwhelmed by textbooks
Something during lecture Sir I was twisted by your spelling pronunciation may be bcz of your native language but Sir I really appreciate your hard work and the way you explain it is enjoyable to hear your sound and help me to memorize quickly.
@@TheNotedAnatomist you are thanking me? You are too kind. I am so greatful, this work is of high quality, up to date and accurate. You have made my explaining so much easier. Thank you. I liked, subbed and will share.

7:15 hmmm. You are overlooking that ASIA charts are concerned with categorizing spinal cord level injury in a spinal injury patient. They have nothing to do with nerve roots. Other myotome charts relate to nerve roots, or more specifically, the spinal segment level the nerve root exits the spine. Nerve roots and cord levels do not correspond. Why? Because the cord ends at L1/2 junction i.e.: C8 cord level is in C7 vertebra T12 cord level is at T8 vertebral level Lumbar cord levels are at T9-T11 vertebral level Sacral cord levels are at T12-L1 vertebral level Ergo: T12 cord level compromise has different motor outcomes to T12 nerve root compromise at the intervertebral foramen.
Thank you very much that was very helpful!! I’m just wondering if muscles are innervated by sensory nerves as well because what I know is is that muscles have muscle spindles that can detect changes in stretch or sense pain, through which nerves do these fibres travel through? For example if brachioradialias muscle is injured and pain is detected through, which nerve do these travel through is it radial nerve?
Good stuff but the essence of it is simple. Localizing the leision by physical exam when MRI is available is like doing a thorough physical exam to diagnose a fracture before X-ray. . The fact is any weakness of the muscle group implies pressure on nerve root and the only thing to remember is to do a quick exam of muscle groups, always remembering that there is overlap. Thats why the positive likelihood ratio doesn't improve with physical exam findings.
With due respect sir, does C6 myotome only response by 'Elbow flexion?' or it would be wrist extension also? & also in C7, would it be elbow extention with wrist flexion sir?
the best explanation i've found
Thanks ☺️
It is impossible to explain this any better.. Thank you from bottom of my heart Dear Dr. Morton;
I am glad , to hear good explanation . Thank you Dear Dr. Morton!

Thank-you :)
My guy your explanation of things makes them very easy to understand. Thanks bro.
This is the best explanation of myotomes I've ever seen! Thank you so much!
Sir I am confused that our cervical has C7 . But you mentioned C8 also.
There are 7 cervical vertebrae BUT there are 8 cervical Spinal cord/nerve levels.
My spinal cord segmentation video I’m the spinal cord playlist covers it
Great video, thanks for sharing!

Other myotome charts relate to nerve roots, or more specifically, the spinal segment level the nerve root exits the spine.
Nerve roots and cord levels do not correspond.
Why?
Because the cord ends at L1/2 junction
i.e.:
C8 cord level is in C7 vertebra
T12 cord level is at T8 vertebral level
Lumbar cord levels are at T9-T11 vertebral level
Sacral cord levels are at T12-L1 vertebral level
Ergo:
T12 cord level compromise has different motor outcomes to T12 nerve root compromise at the intervertebral foramen.
Some form of energy is required to enhance a latent portion of your body's might.
Thnx sir
L3 is involved in knee extension- How L4? Correct Anyone?
would it be possible to share the link for the myotome discrepency chart at 9:30? Thanks so much Dr!

yes that is correct.
I need s graphics chart of myotomes

L5 is wrong
Best shiiiiiiiiiiing ever
Schhingg!!💕
8:08sec what was the book that you mentioned? Love the video!!!
In case anyone's wondering - it's called "The Human Brain" and it's written by John Nolte!
@@rebekajirsak9463 thank you🙏🤗
I just came to the comments to say SHING!
Loved the video! Where could I find the chart that appears at 8:30? I would love to take a further look and have a copy.
I was wondering why your myotomes are different than textbooks. I learned that L3 was knee extension and L4 is DF
and L5 was great to extension
Myotomes will be slightly different in many references … I address this near the end of this video tutorial
