The French have an expression, "l'esprit d'escalier" -- literally "the spirit of the staircase," basically that feeling when you think of the perfect reply too late, once you're already out the door and halfway down the stairs. INTPs have that problem too. I think it's partly Se PoLR (unable to push yourself to say what you're thinking in the moment) and countervalued Ni (resistant to coming to a singular conclusion until way later). It's probably worse for INFPs with their Fi, but I think INTPs might beat themselves up over it more because of their inferior Fe.

INFP here, if it's a painful kind of thing, just say it no matter how misunderstood the statement will be. Even if they can't understand the core problem, people who know you are sad and in problem will still help you anyways.
There will be a point when you blabber enough misunderstood information, the real picture start to emerges from it.
It's great having a friend who finds my weird way of saying things funny and charming. She always listens as I always listened to her. It took my breaking point to finally open up and be more honest with my emotions. It took a while, but the things I said start to become clear to her.
Also being shittily open with my frustrations actually attracted the right people to offer some words of comfort. Yeah they don't really understand but when things are horrible, but people who try to comfort you is the greatest things ever.

I work with an INFP. This imitation is quite accurate. I can see him dealing with an internal struggle every day. I feel bad for him sometimes. We talk about it often and he seems to like and respect me so he opens up and talks to me. I never share what we talk about so he trusts me. He is very misunderstood at work and gets teased a lot, which makes me feel very protective of him. I often talk with the other guys about easing up and not targeting him. Sometimes you have to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and think about how you would feel if the same things were being said or done to you. If any of you know someone with an INFP personality type, I would encourage you to show them love and that you care. This will mean the world to them. They are very sensitive souls and they need to know that people care about them. Thank you.

INFPs are strongly linked to an avoidant personality. We always avoid confrontation because it hurts our perceptions (too much cognitive dissonance) and because we end up being someone we’re not at all. All that together is more than enough to avoid such emotional turmoil that is gonna make us anxious and sick (er)

I’m an INFP dating an ESTJ ... and this is VERY accurate, I get upset so often, cry, can’t explain how I feel and he cant even remember the last time he cried

My best friend is an ESTJ, and til this day I still wonder why we're friends. 😆 I really love her though.

I gotta give it to the beautiful portrayal of the infp. That feeling of choking they get when someone starts talking about the emotional scars they have.❤️❤️❤️

Hahah I love when the INFP says “definitely ESTJ” that is so accurate! That’s literally all I can think about after I met a person.

The INFP is great in settings where he has time to think (writing, for example) but when he has the pressure of someone there waiting for an answer, he gets self-conscious, can't handle the tension and says the wrong thing. He is not fast on his feet and has trouble performing.

I am INFP and I would cry if ESTJ told me to get my emotions fixed.

Wow. This INFP is really open with his feelings. I would never tell someone I meet on the elevator how I am actually feeling.

But like lowkey sometimes I am sad because I haven't been eating well/taking care of my physical health so he kinda has a point lol. Sometimes I need to remember that i'm not just a blob of emotions

INFP: "You ever just like, cry for no good reason, and you don't know why?"
ESTJ: "I can't imagine crying, period."

Is nobody talking about forgetting the elevator number though? :D I get so nervous when faced with an unexpected social interaction that I forget the most basic things...

    • @swingonthespiral
      @swingonthespiral 5 лет назад +2

I just hyper focus on the social interaction because if I dont I will do something stupid or say something offensive. And that intense focus makes me lose awareness of my surroundings. I think that's why things like that happen. I think people underestimate how well us infps can understand other's and they think we are just oblivious.
