    I kept them years ago and they made a nice contrast with the serpae tetras which being a tetra, depending on the individual, can be a tad nippy. I find, keeping them in a decent school will keep the nipping amongst themselves and bring about a more natural existence on their part. They are a beautiful fish

    • @Lefty3213a
      @Lefty3213a  Год назад +1

      I feel like thats the secret trick with tetras, you gotta almost treat them like barbs and mbunas and HAVE MORE than you should need in your tank and they leave eachother alone

      Thank you. It actually ended up being Adobe premier. When I would edit the audio for background noise and S's. For what ever reason when it would export the audio got funky. I appreciate you pointing it out. Do me a favor watch one of my newer vids and let me know if it still sounds funny.

    Love the species profile on a fish I had never heard of before but is similar to my favorite common tetra, the red minor serpae.
    Hey, was it just my crappy reception, or was the audio off on this video? It wasn't anything that detracted from the video itself, I'm just curious to know if it's my end or yours.
    Have a great day! Now, let's get TANK'd!

      No It was me, I am not sure why this and a few others do that. Tho I did forget to move the mic back near my mouth for this one for like 80% of it haha. So def my end! but I think ive fixed my audio issues for all future vids!

    i have a heavily planted 20 gallon long tank, current plan is
    12 harlequin rasboras
    3 honey gourami
    8 albiono cory
    and 7 of these black phantom tetras
    I know its a little bit overstocked but I do have appropriate filtration to deal with it. Any aggression relating to the phantom tetras? Currently the harlequins and HG's are in the tank and no problems so far

    • @Lefty3213a
      @Lefty3213a  7 месяцев назад

      There shouldn't be any from the phantoms. I would say just keep an eye on those gourami I have heard they can be a little territorial. But in my experience it w as fine and I had em mixed with a betta. But the tank being heavily planted should help that

    Now that I have been in the Hobby for awhile I am slowly branching out in different types of Fishy Friends.Thus far the Only tetras I have is Blood Fins and they are wonderful little Tankmates to my other community fish.

      They truly are an amazing fish, and one that really surprised me! Once they colored up and got SUPER dark they are GORGOUS! Really do recommend em if you're looking to expand your tetra collection, and the color contrast between them and the blood fins will be amazing :D

    Hey i came from your api quick start video and i have a question if i add fish food its creates annomia and then the bacteria from api quick start makes it into nitrite and then the bacteria makes nitrite into nitrate?? all this happens with just annomia and api quick start? please help me understand.

    • @Lefty3213a
      @Lefty3213a  Год назад

      You are correct. So what the API Quick start is, just liquid nitrifying bacteria which takes ammonia and nitrites and converts them into Nitrates. If you dont add the fish food or something that will create ammonia all that Nitrifying bacteria will die and your tank won't cycle.
      Quick start and products like it are basically designed for people that dont want to wait 6-8 weeks for their tanks to cycles naturally or the old school way. SO you can add quick start then in like 24 - 48 hours add in your fish and the quick start helps keep you from having a huge ammonia and nitrite spike that can kill fish.
      You can go completely old school with tank cycling and add just fish food to an empty tank and wait a min of 6 weeks and the tank will go through an ammonia spike, then a nitrite spike then nitrates till it levels off.
      Hope that helps ^_^ if not feel free to follow up :)

      @@Lefty3213a Ok thank you how often do i need to add this product to my water?

    • @Lefty3213a
      @Lefty3213a  Год назад

      So if you're starting a new tank personally I double the dose. If you want to do it fish in just follow the instructions. You can also add it during weekly water changes to ensure your cycle does not crash until you're comfortable your tank is 100% stable.

    • @Lefty3213a
      @Lefty3213a  7 месяцев назад

      It's always best to have more females to males I would say 2:1 or 3:1 would be even better.
