@John...Yes, the Cole Porter repertory brought out the best in Horne. This is not to say the others didn't. Horne sang with her entire body and was not so much a singer as she was a stylist. If you care to, please listen to another stylist of that time doing Porter's "I've got you under my skin," by Josephine Baker. Horne didn't get the opportunity to show off her hoofing ability, which was quite impressive. I caught a glimpse of this as dance great/choreographer Carol Haney put Horne through some fancy steps. Those were great days.
