Can you imagine cutting this scene out when it was shown in southern states? Hard to imagine now…
😡
She walked and understood every assignment
Lena was just brilliant. Always loved this song, what a classic. The acting, dancing, expressions and that beautiful voice.
All I can say is WOW! Lena know how to work those eyes and eyebrows.
What a great vocal by miss Lena Horne they should definitely make a biographical movie of her
A true queen
Fabulous performance!!!! I love Lena Horne's sassy acting! Thanks for posting. :-)
@Let...And without the sassy acting, Lena wasn't Lena. The acting, along with the singing, made her performance come alive.
Magnificent performance, great setting. What an American Treasure, yet never fully recognized and appreciated because of our national disease---Racism.
Lena Horne sings true meaning of what love truly is
Lena Horne is epic!
35 and i love this movie. I have it on my computer. Hell yeah
Love the lyrics. 😊
One my all time fave scenes of her !
Je viens d'acheter ce film chez Amazon et de le regarder. J'y ai trouvé ce titre. Et je dois dire: un titre merveilleux!
One of the great talents of old Hollywood. If Hollywood hadn't been so racist, and it still is, she would have been more recognized...
I recognized her right away from this clip. I needed no further convincing.
@Andre...The marketplace dictates the narrative. Those movies needed the backing of bankers, and they wanted their money back. So if there was fear the movie wouldn't sell, then they weren't gonna back it. After all, there was talk that movies with her in them had to make adjustments in certain parts of the country. But those times have changed now. Too many movies starring actors of color are making money these days, and the bankers have reacted in kind. So that "racism" was really not Hollywood's fault.
@@jayyoung4534 ... wrong ... all wrong ... you are so wrong ... the nazis dictate ... "the marketplace dictates" ... the fraud ... oh "the narrative" ... and the ecological nazi army poisoning people with parrots situated above the dinner tables - so unhygienic ... tropical birds of paradise from the tropics between the tropic of cancer and the tropic of capricorn ... new guinea mount giluwe cave of skulls now get back into that cave ...
@@perthliner5142 It was money. The lenders wanted a sure thing on the projects they funded plus interest. Projects featuring stars of color today are bankable, plus interest. It's as simple as that. There's nothing like money!
@@jayyoung4534 ... yeah yeah sure sure auf wiedersehn ... "mondo cannibal" ... money cannot be eaten ...
This is crazy epic

TY for the upload, great standard, with superb music & lyrics, sung by the lovely & talented Lena :-)
Christopher Scott Dixon, Huge Martin wrote the music. Ralph Blane wrote the words. These two men also composed the Trolley song...

It’s crazy they had to darken her just to be on tv because she was too light.
Tour de force
fuck… the way she is dressed is too ahead to her time, is she a time-traveller?
