Chuvash is a Turkic language spoken primarily in the Chuvash Republic and adjacent areas. It is the only surviving member of the Oghur branch of Turkic languages, one of the two principal branches of the Turkic family.
If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.
Submit your recordings to otipeps24@gmail.com.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello, I'm Chuvash. Ask questions
is the word шу (water) pronanced like its written?

Intriguing how out of so many historical Oghuric people such as Akatziris, Onogurs, Utigurs, Kutrigurs, Saragurs,... only the Chuvash have managed to survive. Big ups to the descendants of the Hunno-Bulgars !

Filip XV , the word of ''Turkish'' is representing for the Turkiye republic citiezens nationality , u can use Turkic word for hunns ,chuvashs , Anatolian Turks , caucasus Turks and central asian Turks etc.
@@albertixthegreat792 hunns is Turkic
The origin of the huns is still debated. They probably were a confederation of people from different backgrounds. However, they were probably not turkic, since the turkic language family was not formed yet when the huns invaded eastern and Northern Europe. They were indeed from Asia. Words like "med" may be of indo-european origin.

I've noticed some mistakes:
4:23 пас пӳрне should be пуҫ пӳрне, however the speaker pronounced it correctly. It's тупанӗ and not тупане (diacritics are important in Chuvash). Arm is хул while hand is ал(ӑ), алӑ тупанӗ means palm.
Otherwise great video, did not expect it to come out so soon👍
"Kol" is arm in Istanbul standard Turkish and "el" is hand. Similar to Chuvash Turkic!
Не ожидала увидеть такое видео. Сама чувашка, но языка к сожалению не знаю. Родители разговаривают, но дети нет,только на русском. Привет с Татарстана)
Я наполовину чувашка, наполовину горномарийка. Выросла в другом регионе, тоже не говорю на родных языках. Но с прошлого года начала изучать чувашский) сложно, но возможно. И очень увлекательно! Бабушка очень рада) Если получится, буду и горномарийский изучать - язык стремительно вымирает.

it is the only oghur branch, not oghuz or kipchak.
@@Coby000 Ön Bulgarca neden anlaşılıyor o zaman Çuvaşça’nın aksine? Çuvaşça Türkleşmiş bir dil dahi olabilir.

Please make a video on Kachari/Bodo-Kachari languages. There are 5+ Kachari languages and the population of Kachari people is over 5 million. There are many Kachari languages that people use in daily life such as Dimasa, Bodo, Kokborok (Tripuri) etc so it will be easy for you to find people who will say the words for you. You can find them in social media 🙏❤️ hope you will do it soon!

Could you re-upload the video about Icelandic? Thanks
Do they call violet “dark red?”
My grandmother is from Caspian Sea she's ancestors she look Mongoloid and Caucasoid
😍
Ну вообще то Терес/Тересмар переводиться как верно/неверно. "Нет" будет "Ҫук", прямого слова "Да" в чувашском нет, когда хотим ответить Да, отвечает словом из вопроса.
The speaker seems to have a Russian accent.
Tbf most speakers of languages in russia have a russian accent nowadays, and also chuvash itself has a soft sound without russian influence so the russian accent is even stronger soundings
that's true even fluent speakers have it
"Tbf most speakers of languages in russia have a russian accent nowadays"
Not really. In the Caucasus its opposite, many people do have native accent in Russian.
Disagree. I do not hear any russian accent. Speakers of languages in russia don't all have russian accents. Just listen to sakha tuvan and caucasian languages. So distinct.
IMO this language sound more similar to Bulgarian dialects from the black sea coast, then it does to Russian
Can somebody pinpoint the Uralic influences I'm Hungarian and I don't see any
You resemble my grandmother of my father side while i resemble the Kipchak Cumans and my mother side both are Altay Türkic people i look East Eurasian Mongoloid and Caucasoid

4:20 Sheeesh!
Is it phonologically influenced by Russian? Because the first two speakers had a thin Russian accent, I don't know if it's a general influence or just Chuvash people having Russian as their dominant language.
Latvian/Lithuanian: "Oh my god this language has a russian accent"
Any Slavic language: "this is Russian"
Sanskrit: "Oh my God, it's so similar to Russian"
Turkic or Finno-Ugric: "oh my God, the language has a russian accent"
Portuguese: "Oh my God, Portuguese sounds like Russian".... 🤦
Yeah, of course Russian is the ancestor of all languages 😅
@@SB-fw3yr what point are you trying to make ? The guy is just asking whether or not Russian has had phonological influence over Chuvash, which is perfectly legitimate seeing as the overwhelming majority of Chuvash speakers live in Russian and have thus studied Russian. He's not claiming that Chuvash descends from Russian.
@@SB-fw3yr Sorry for being late. I'm far from saying every single languages are related to Russian. I'm asking if the language has some kind of Phonetical Russian influences because of the obvious geographical and political context. Don't get me wrong, I hate hearing this too but the context and the question is totally different I'm asking here.
@@dragskcinnay3184 Exactly, thank you!

Chuvash - in Bashkort language means watery soup
Is Chuvash similiar with Khazar language?
They are the same in origin, but unlike Khazar, Chuvash has completely changed under the influence of Finno-Ugric languages. Chuvash is not mutually intelligible with any language that has existed in this world.
Khazar ancestor of usrainian
@@albertixthegreat792 according to you no one is Turkic 😂
@@albertixthegreat792 Sorry, but you are wrong. Many medieval writers attested to the Khazars' Turkic origins including Theophanes, al-Masudi, Rabbi Yehudah ben Barzillai, Martinus Oppaviensis, and the anonymous authors of the Georgian Chronicle and Chinese chronicle T'ang-shu. The Arabic writer al-Masudi in Kitab at-Tanbih wrote: "...the Khazars... are a tribe of the Turks." T'ang-shu reads: "K'o-sa [Khazars]... belong to the stock of the Turks." In his Chronographia, Theophanes wrote: "During his [Byzantine emperor Heraclius] stay there [in Lazica], he invited the eastern Turks, who are called Chazars, to become his allies."
Some Mari groups neighboring the Chuvash call them something along the lines of "Bulgarized Mari", can't remember what it was specifically though.
Mari call us " суасла мари (suasla mari), suas in Mari is tatars, suasla mari is tatarized mari
@@vetke3486 Kazakhs call Chuvash “сыуаш”
@@vetke3486 you are mistaken, suas is suvas, chuvash, originally the territory of tatarstan was chuvash, i.e. bulgar. Tatars received the name suas on territorial grounds, Besides, those who converted to Islam turned into tatars.
Chuv - шыв, су, water; sh - ас, people.
Chuvash - people are of water.
Chuvash is Suasla Mari because we are blood brothers and sisters of Mari, Mari are also Bulgars like the Chuvash.
Yultash MSH said that Chuvash is Suash (suas, chuvash).

It's strange, it sounds a little bit slavic. I wonder if this language has a slavic substrate.
What slavic did you hear in Chuvash language? We have some russian words, but its not significant
More like uralic
楚瓦什语🤓
Although Chuvash is a sort of lone wolf among Turkic languages, I can feel a notorious Persian vibe from it.
Heavily Finno-Ugricized Turkic language. Most of the vocabulary isn’t Turkic. It can even be considered a mixed language.
I would say that Chuvashs are Bulgarized Finno-Ugrics
