Man, I wish I could go, but unfortunately the event is on the wrong side of the country for me. Wish you the best in getting all the dogs adopted and I hope the event will be a success. 😊
Rocky, I so wish I could be there too!! I wish there was some way that there was compromise, so that you could do out of state adoptions …four years ago I lost my little tea cup yorkie, and I’m still heartbroken..my husband and I are in our 60’s, so ready to love again , I’d love to adopt from your organization, but live many miles away ! Would you guys consider? Just curious! What a doll he is ! 🩵
I am 84 years old and I live in Orem Utah. I used to have a toy poodle, but he died when he was 20 years old. It was the same time that I had a heart attack. I have been looking to save a rescue dog that is small and very very old, because I don’t want to get a dog and then die in the poor dog is on his own again
I adopted a bitey small dog. The vet tech said get welding gloves from the hardware store, so I did. When he was biting my gloved had, I said calmly “ you know you aren’t hurting me.” His entire head swiveled around and from then on he respected me. I miss him. He was such a good dog.
@@elenaball3884 true they are often afraid. In terms of training methods: most dogs are happy with treats but small dogs get full soon and some dogs just want praise…like my dog who was happy to be told he was good when he had been told he was disgusting by his former owner.
I lost my Jack Russel (George) of 17 years on June 7th I found your channel that very same day. Today I dropped off all his old toys, beds, coats, leads, poo bags and food. I also picked up his ashes. The shelter was so kind and gave me the option to sit with dogs for a couple hours, and I have left the shelter with a German Shepard called Sasha, She's only 1 but is very well trained (her old owner passed away suddenly and no one in the puppy's family could look after Sasha) but was just as scared as the first pup in this video. But I sat with her for almost 2 hours, and she just came out of her shell. I want to say thank you for doing all this amazing work with the dogs in shelters. Having now sat with dogs I now even more than before have appreciated all the work you do for these dogs, Thanks for also being my destress after work each day. EDIT: i want to say that i appreciate the kind words from everybody, It has helped me have a smile. When i woke up this morning i saw two things one Sasha sitting outside my room looking sad, i gave her some pets and love she cheered up loads, then i walked into the kitchen she had done a poo in her water bowl. I laughed so hard it was the funniest thing in a while, I know know she might need to go more than my 17yo. But everything is a learning curve. Once again thank you for the kind words!
I adopted a Boston Terrier from a puppy mill. He had never been out of a cage in his 2 years of life. He was a basket case, he knew nothing of the world except humans are not good. It took 6 months of gently working with him before he responded. I then rescued another Boston, a little female. When I brought her home they played together and then he jumped up on the couch and licked my face…for the first time! As if to say thank you human. He still has some fears but he’s a loving boy once he gets to know you. Now, I’ve recently adopted another rescue, a Yorkie-Poo that is scared when he meets new folks, but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up to them. The more we socialize him, the better he gets. Love them all. Thanks for all you do for these lovely creatures.
A local rescue group asked me to foster a terrified dog who was released from a puppy mill. She was supposed to be a breeder. That was four years ago. She's currently snoring in my bed. I'm so glad she adopted me.
My daughter adopted a Yorkie mix three years ago in a very similar state. He nipped her several times and growled every time anyone approached him. Over several weeks he decompressed and only nipped after giving a lot of warning. Today he still growls like he is going to tear you apart, but he only licks. I don’t understand what the growl means to him because he even growls when he is happy to see you.
I adopted a cat who came from a hoarding situation of about 90 mostly black cats. My sweet girl had been a resident of my local shelter for 6 months, she was extremely shy and shut down. I brought her home a little over a year ago and she is really starting to warm up to me, it takes time and patience. Last week she crawled into my lap for the first time! Do take a chance on these needy creatures. You could be adopting the best pet ever!

It’s horrible. Yorkies are just meant to be with someone, their person. They suffer when they don’t have it and are blissfully happy when they do. Speaking from experience- Adopting a dog like this can be the best decision! If you have the patience to let them build their trust in you, you'll have a best friend for LIFE!
We did adopt a small terrier like this 10 years ago. A rescue from Puerto Rico. We took our time with her and let her warm up to us in her time, and still have her today. Lost my husband almost 4 years ago, and Holly is my best friend. She's a wonderful little dog, and wouldn't trade her for anything. I love her so much. He reminds me a lot of how she was then. They come around, once they learn to trust you. So worth the time and effort.
Rocky, today I had a real breakthrough with my pet bird Petie while watching this show. She has been with me for two years or more. She has been very friendly with me but would not let me pet her. Today, she put her little head down and did not pull away when I pet her. For sure, she is going to go down in my journal as one of her most noteworthy moments of our time together. 🎉😊🎉
My sister's cat took 6 years... visiting her a few times a year... to accept me. I took it as a supreme compliment! And it just happened, out of the blue one day. Then her cat acted as if we'd been friends forever.😂
Hang in there, hopefully more breakthroughs coming for you & your bird. Our “Treasure” took a long time to warm up to us. Our neighbor watched Treasure for less than a week & came back with his wonderful Italian/Trinidad accent & new words like hellodare but the little bird would not go near him also took about two years.
My chiweenie will not allow a stranger to touch her. If I hold her, you can pull her ears, hug her head, scratch her scritches. Reaching in the car to pet her is dangerous, for you and her. She is not protecting the car, or me. She is confined, and don’t want a stranger touching her. I absolutely HATE when I ask people not to reach in the open window, because my dog might bite them, and they tell me “animals love me” and do it anyway. She has never actually bitten anyone, but the threat is upsetting to her, to me, to the fool who wouldn’t listen to me. I pet every critter I come across, with owner and critter permission.
Oh Rocky, this is so sweet. Such wisdom of how the little guy is getting out little by little. It's like when a toddler is learning to venture out a little. They come running back to touch base with the trusted adult and then venture out again.
I go into our local shelter one day a week and make sure to stop in front of every dog and just acknowledge them. They all crave human connection and just talking to them brightens them up - you can see it.
As a rescue yorkie owner his behaviour seems very typical - they are so sensitive and need to bond with their special human - they seem to mix fight and flight together- they have a lot of guarding, ratting (hunting) and protecting behaviour, so when they are afraid they don’t know what to do (they are very clever high functioning working dogs) needing enrichment and training to stimulate- but win one round and you have a dedicated partner for life - my girl is too attached to me so I adopted another ex breeder(imperial shih tzu- totally different non working dog breed, would happily be a lap dog) from rescue who was terrified (I adopted her because she was terrified and I knew I could help her , the breed was irrelevant ), for them to bond together; its working and they are both doing well and are very happy teaching each other to chill
I thought I knew a lot about dogs, having shared my life with them for decades. No. Your ultra patient interaction with this darling little scruffy has taught me a lot.
I don't think people really understand what a fearful dog is all about. I have a dog like this, had him from puppy and he is still fearful. People will ask me what happened to him and I just say it's part of his personality. He's great with me but always fearful of strangers. Once he gets to know you he's fine, it just takes awhile. My dog could never be adopted on his own, but he's not going anywhere. I love him just the way he is.
I have a girl like yours too. Fearful and timid. I am her comfort and she never leaves me, and I won’t leave her either. Right now, I am recovering from hip surgery. She can’t sleep with me for two weeks. But she still never left my side. She had been staying right next to me on the couch all day while I sleep on the recliner chair.
@@Curiouscatnap we adopted ours when she was 6 months old. She had other dogs and she was the only puppy in the family. Her owner was a high school girl. She got her from her bf back then. She carried her around with her. Not sure how the actual family life was. Her grade went down, they broke up, and the father told her that she needs to concentrate on her school work. So she was giving her away. She was crying a lot and she texted us here and there how puppy is doing for a while. The puppy, now she is 7 years old, but she gets scared of things, such as noise, people, other dogs easily. She was not isolated when she came to us. So it’s not that she was not socialized by us. She is friendly. She never does fear bites. She will come to you if you visit us but very low to the ground with tail wagging.
We have a cat like this too. People like to judge or "know better". But i always was good with animals (and kids🙄) Whenever i visited a (school) friend or family and they had a pet and were like "he/she doesn't like strangers" - the pet always came to me. I could pet them, cats liked my hands... it's awesome. Our cats choosed us too. We didn't went out and said "we want his one" we let the cats decide. The cat who came to us and accepted both of us came with us
Sorry for your loss-losing one of our fur babies is simply the most dreadful loss. When you feel ready you may find you are able to love again. i hope so, for your sake and for another yorkie's sake. ❤❤🐶🙏
My 5 lb Chihuahua never seem to realize how tiny he was. He acted like a German Shepherd, courageous. Always good Behavior, he Loved Everyone. He stayed with me 18 years, he had separation anxiety. Never growled or bit anyone until I ask my housekeeper to change the sheets when he was sleeping in the bed. After that whenever he heard her voice he would sit up out of attention & give a little growl but never offered to bite her ...
I love your approach! I have a x4 yr. old rescue CAIRN who lived her short life in a cage w/ her Sister. My pup was used exclusively for breeding. When she came into "heat" a male dog was thrown in the cage for breeding purposes. She is fearful of everything including me. I have been her pet parent for x3 yrs. Progress is VERY SLOW! It took a year for her to come out of the crate I gave her. Year two she made up her mind to move to the couch for her safe space. Now, in year three, she has a dog bed & sleeps in my bedroom. The dog bed in the corner is now her safe space which she stays in all day & night. She runs / moves away whenever I approach her even when I crouch & reach out my hand. I'm NOT sure where to go next but you are giving me some ideas THANKS TO YOU!
I love this report and also the video! This sweet baby may need more time to warm up to people and come around, but I 100% appreciate and respect the ways you got this sweetheart to eat the treats you sent her way. Nobody does it better, Rocky!

I hope you visit them again, Rocky. What those poor babies must have went thru. They obviously never had human affection. Makes you wonder if they were puppy mill rejects. Rocky, What you are doing to make this world a better place is amazing. Thank you.
I can understand the separation but I wish they could see each other like across the isle. Just a familiar face. I pray they all get adopted. They're so cute.

I got a dog as a foster, I now am his Mama, 8 months ago. He will let me pet him when he's in his bed. However, he won't come to me & I can't pet him away from his "spot." I just keep sitting with him each day & telling him he's a good boy & mama loves Willy.

I hope you do well and selling your coffee. I might try some one day. They push all the air out so it’s like freshly opening the packet every time God bless you for your work.❤
Thank you for spending time with these dogs ❤You showed them humans can be kind and I believe they really needed that. Wishing the very best for these 5 cute little dogs. Please try and give a pupdate on them sometime if you get a chance. Thanks again to Rocky and his team.
Hi. Cute little terriers. I hope they find wonderful homes. I have dealt with many ferals over about 30 yrs from age 5 until my present age of 68. I have dealt with dogs, cats, other wildlife, injured creatures, I learned how to deal with them from personal experience owing guidelines from TV to experienced pet owners to vets I met with my own pets. I admire you and the work you do. Plan to spread word and your videos as I hope to join and encourage others to do also. Approaching the pups the way you do and did reminds me of my techniques with ferals. Time and patience works wonders. Even a little of each goes a long way.😊

The smaller the dog the more anxious they can be. Imagine being so small and everything looking so big.
OMG😢 I am Yorkie rescue mom, and this breaks my heart. Love to this little one.❤❤
I have learned that little dogs need to be treated with respect. They are frequently manhandled especially by strangers.
Throwing the blanket down, scared him. Just some object, went, thud, in front of him...
@@littleme3597 same here, it size thing? from there point of view some just drop small mountain next to them
My chiweenie will not allow a stranger to touch her.
Because of Rocky, I tell my Papillon "you're a good boy" every day, and several times a day! Every dog needs to hear that!!💕💕🥰
I tell my girl a 100 times a day. She loves compliments.
i do the same everyday. i tell my dogs how much i love them and that i am thankful they are alive and healthy. i love them so much
My girl loves me to tell her she is beautiful and she's momma's baby. 😍
I go into our local shelter one day a week and make sure to stop in front of every dog and just acknowledge them. They all crave human connection and just talking to them brightens them up - you can see it.
I do the same but with my cat. “You’re a good girl Toffee”. She really is starting to respond to it😊
Dogs dont just wag their tails when their happy. They also wag when they are nervous or cautious. What a cute little doggy. So wish i could adopt him.
Adorable dog. I had a Yorkie who we absolutely adored and heartbroken when she died from kidney failure.
So sorry you are heartbroken, you will fine love again, there is always a puppy waiting for your love.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m so sorry hugs
Me too😢. My Lucy also passed from kidney failure. It came as a total surprise. I miss her so much.
I’ve had 3 yorkies and 1 morkie!! The poor, poor guy!! He needs a hug but doesn’t know it.
No. Your ultra patient interaction with this darling little scruffy has taught me a lot.
thank you SO much for what you do. He's so precious. I hope all 5 pups find terrific homes so they never have to feel scared and unloved again.
This dog is absolutely adorable and he's so handsome I pray someone with a kind loving nature will adopt him and take wonderful care of him
I don't think people really understand what a fearful dog is all about.
They are not fearful from birth? It means you haven’t socialised them properly 🤦♀️
But i always was good with animals (and kids🙄)
Whenever i visited a (school) friend or family and they had a pet and were like "he/she doesn't like strangers" - the pet always came to me. I could pet them, cats liked my hands... it's awesome.
Our cats choosed us too. We didn't went out and said "we want his one" we let the cats decide. The cat who came to us and accepted both of us came with us
I had 2 cats like that, they were fine with me but mean as heck to everyone else ❤
Makes me miss my yorkie she passed away last year god bless you for your work you do each day ❤
Sorry for your loss-losing one of our fur babies is simply the most dreadful loss. When you feel ready you may find you are able to love again. i hope so, for your sake and for another yorkie's sake. ❤❤🐶🙏
OMG Rocky's affirmations are like spiritual advice for anyone.
You have a wonderful heart Rocky!!!
How is that someone have the soul to abandon this little creature ! 😢😢
If someone abandoned him, they have no soul.
cute little puppers, sad they're so scared, glad the shelter called you
Definitely neglected. So sad. They want to be loved but probably never had any.
Do you think they were abused? The first one especially seemed wary of hands..
You do so much good for these animals. You have so much patience.
So very sorry for poor little baby! I have a Yorky and he gets really scared too! Pray that he gets to a loving home forever! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
How sweet to see Ramses freely roaming around the pen❤
We appreciate you and everything you, Kelly, Alexis , and all the shelter staff do for these dogs 💖💖💖
that poor lil pup needs cuddles desperately!
i do hope puppers feels the love soon!
Adorable. Small dogs must feel so vulnerable.
No, they don’t know they are small. Best wishes from Sweden ❤
I feel that way too. Everyone in the world is bigger than they are poor dears.
Have you considered getting her a “thunder shirt” I’ve heard they’re great for anxiety and stress…Food for thought?

Thank you Rocky for showing the world 🌎 this pup has potential! What a transformation in such short time! ❤
Rocky says “there’s always hope…” Love it! ❤️🥰😍
"Love works!" Yes, it does, Rocky, and thank you for proving that every day. :)
Your an amazing person
6:57 i think "there's always hope, btw" would make an excellent t-shirt or just a cool quote for merch
13:52 oh wow he's got long legs! I always thought yorkies were supposed to be a little stumpy lol
28:19 omg!! To have made so much progress in under a half an hour is amazing! He's so brave and sweet I wish I lived closer
I love that ! “There’s always hope”
demonstrating patience and kind attitude is awesome way to introduce people to any dog
...and dogs perking up is great to see ❀
So good to see your post come up , Rocky.
Always lifts my heart ....to see a dog discovering love and acceptance....or even a human( like me)
Peter, you deserve love, happiness and acceptance too, I am sorry for what you have gone through and how it has affected the way you feel about yourself. We humans are not perfect but you are okay exactly as you are. I hope you can begin to accept yourself and love yourself . May you find the peace and contentment you truly deserve. 💙💙🙏 Many Blessings.
@lindanichols125
Thank you Linda
Appreciated.
A lot of resonance in my heart when I see these doggies journeys to the discovery of love ,and acceptance , and consequently of " relaxation into being "
Blessings.
Ramsey is so cute what a transformation from the shy scared dog. They are all very cute I hope they get adopted soon.
After what was just a quick glimpse, there is something about Raven that stole my heart.❤
Yes, she or he was trembling uncontrollably and seemed so _vulnerable_ - poor lil' thing!
I liked Akila and I usually prefer girls ❤
God bless Rocky. We can all do something . Donate to the shelters, adopt, report any mistreatment we see. We have to be their voice.
It takes so much patience with these guys but so worth it! ❤❤❤
I got a dog as a foster, I now am his Mama, 8 months ago. He will let me pet him when he's in his bed. However, he won't come to me & I can't pet him away from his "spot." I just keep sitting with him each day & telling him he's a good boy & mama loves Willy.
Bless you❤❤❤
He will come around and surprise you one day! ❤❤❤
The wonderful patience and live you are giving will eventually break through!
Thank you for being so very patient with the dogs. ❤
How cute is he, gosh I hope he gets a home..I'm glad he is coming out of his shell and running around. He'll be a good boy for someone ❤❤
My heart breaks for these separated babies. No wonder they are so fearful. I pray they find their furever homes soon with just the right family. I’m across the Atlantic, or I would be there in a heartbeat! 💚☘️🇮🇪
Love makes the world go round. I don’t understand anybody that would hurt an any animal child or baby. I just think you’re a little dog whisperer you do such a fantastic job. I hope you do well and selling your coffee. I might try some one day. I’ve got one of those new pots that push all the air out after you’ve taken the coffee, they’re brilliant thing to have the place to get them.
It breaks my heart to think about what these poor pups must have gone through. I hope they find the loving home they deserve soon.
The positive affirmations really helped perk him up 🥰
Your affirmations made the change, its was wonderful to watch. They don't understand the language but damn they sure get the intentions behind it.
Such a little family of cuties adoreable little dogs..
Ur so amazing Rockie ❤❤
He’s responding to “Buddy & Bud” I think he liked that! ❤❤
Thank you for taking time with this precious, little, terrified guy who now is taking treats out of your hand. AMAZING!❤
I adore Yorkies. I've had two little girls that lived for 13 and 15 years. We have four rescues now but I want another Yorkie,
Wow he is smiling & running around happily p♥️♥️♥️
Rocky. You a gift to God's animals, So down to earth, loving, caring. I wish there was a Rocky in every city, State.
THANK YOU, GOD BLESS YOU & FAMILY
You won his trust. He sensed your empathy
This is sooooo moving. Thank you for your love and patience, Rocky. ❤❤❤❤❤
