Back in original Cataclysm tons of stuff got removed from the game that players would often times have to wait years to see again. We are still awaiting on more info on Blizzard's end as to how transmog will work in the expansion, but I thought i'd put together some of the bigger items that you will no longer be able to get.
Take this all with a grain of salt of course, all of this could change, but if there is an item you know you want for sure, its better to go grab it whilst we know it is still there.

It's kinda funny that the dungeon sets are about to leave the game with Cata but they are also about to become part of the farm in SOD.

Absolutely everyone should go do the Linken quest in Ungoro. Unique looking sword that is taken out with Cata, a cool trinket, and a keepsake “letter” that is a picture referencing Legend of Zelda :)

That being said, do you still have to keep the sword in your bank or can you vendor it right away after completing the quest? I know in earlier versions of tmog, you had to keep the quest rewards for it to be added and if you vendored it before, then too bad.
Then they made it so any armor or weapons that were rewards in quests you completed before were automatically added to your collection, regardless if you kept it or not.
I dunno if they said this already, but I dunno if I should be keeping the quest rewards or vendoring it and hoping it knows I've done the quest come prepatch.

A note about the T 0/0.5 sets, if you did the quest chain and got your 0.5 pieces you dont need to hold on to them, the game will have the quest checked off so you will get the xmog, but it wont give you the T 0 because they were handed in... dumb

This is assuming we get the modern transmog system, if we get the actual cata one you'll need the items themselves.

Also being removed: Skull of Impending Doom, Nifty Stopwatch, Tidal Charm, Barov's Peasant Caller, Linken's Boomerang, & Light of Elune.

Shadowfang (the lvl 19 twink sword, which becomes even stronger in Cata) also basically removed - I don't think it was ever confirmed, but with the npc lvl change in SFK, only the last 3 bosses should even be able to drop it, minus chests potentially, Shadowfangs are gonna spike like crazy - some twink items like Jutebraid Gloves or Glacial Stone (anything from quests basically) also become grandfathered and unobtainable.
Removing items and quests along with destroying classic zones(which to this day have not been touched) are some of the reasons I disliked Cata and eventually quit(the 1st time) some months in to it after being subbed since late vanilla.
This was an insane time in retail. When Transmog was announced, people were going nuts, and certain BoEs became a gift for wealth instantly. Fun times.
Finally got my tiger after trying for it on and off since TBC classic.
I just got my tiger last week. such a huge weight off my shoulders. now i need to get the raptor and wotlk achievement mounts.
Being reinstated: my bank space! I've been holding on to all of that tier gear for far too long now!
I forget the specifics around this one given how long its been, but the edge of madness semi random boss in ZG was one that I remember a lot of the item drops didn't carry over to the rework, or something about triggering the event didnt work post Cata. I could be wrong, but I just remember if you want the Phantom blade dagger skin, or any other cosmetic items from that boss, best to get them now. People asked me all the time how I had a green phantom blade on my priest, and I think at some point around this time, it became unavailable.
in zul gurub y'all should also check the edge of madness loottables for transmogs as there are 3 very neat looking phantom blade recolor drops (fiery retributor, renataki's soul conduit, wushoolay's poker) and a big shiny pitchfork named pitchfork of madness to acquire!
Especially the Poker, as it's the only dagger in the game with that skin. Looks like a sword.

+1 tiger and raptor every 3 days for about 2 months now :( nothing
would be greath if they put the time npc at ZG entrence so u can still change the dungen back in to the raid like they did with onyxia lair so u can still do the vanila verison if u want to. only reason for this is so player can still get the mount does who been unlucky not getting it ofc most of us got the tiger, i gave up on the raptor becus the tiger is mostlikely the most insane mount in the game atlest from 1-80 in classic
The funny thing is my main during classic can’t do the Winterspring tiger because he’s hated with Winterspring Trainers
they should add Zidormi next to both entrances which would allow you to access the old version. I have no idea why they don't at this point.
Because it is Not Just simple phasing but the whole world is different
@@golokeppler706 It would be some work, but far from impossible for them to allow access to older versions of instances by moving copies of them to a different map ID and letting you zone into them with an NPC like Zidormi.
@@golokeppler706 They could easily re-add it in the same way they did Old Scholomance. It really wouldn't be hard to re-add the instance map of the old versions and have a dialog option attached to Zidormi that would simply teleport you to that map ID.

Bastion of Twilight will be fun.
Not sure how keeping zin'rokh destroyer of worlds from ZG in your inventory works, it sort of gets removed but placed into archeology profession. There are other items that are easy to get from ZG that become harder to get later on. Also believe jin'rohk the great apocalypse from ZA and other unique weapons get removed too
The archelogy one isnt the same. The tip on the edge looks the other way on the archelogy one but otherwise they are the same color and same everything. Just a little bit of model change

Items from specialisations on blacksmith is a pretty cool one - you keep the recipie if you get it maybe a money maker
Been farming the swift zulian tiger for a year now, every reset. Statistically i should have gotten it by now but im afraid i will be tiger-less in cataclysm and all the farming was for nothing :(

Same shit has been happening to me that happened in original cata launch. I've been farming the raven mount for AGES nearly every day and i havent gotten it. I dont even bother with zg. It dropped once in original wrath to a dude that quit a few months after.
It took 2 years for the raven with me in retail but it won't drop if you don't try

I have a question and I haven't been able to find an answer. When Wotlk launches CATACLYSM, will players no longer be able to play in the LK expansion? Or will Blizzard leave two servers, one for Cataclysm and one for Wotlk?
The best expansion of all in my opinion was LK, now that we can play again will they replace them with CATA? Do you know what to say about this my friend?

There is only forever classic and progression. So no wrath servers.
So that means we won't be able to play on Lk anymore, we'll have to play on Cata and so on, when they launch the pandas expansion

this shit is why i stopped playing retail. removed mounts, pets, transmog. I should be able to go back into old zg at lvl 70 on retail and farm the mounts or go to Naxx40 and farm T3 tmog.

Started in wrath, so cata was my tbc. Obviously I was complete trash. I turned around in dragon soul finally clearing a normal mode raid 😂. My wow skill peaked in mop, that being said I would love to try the bade cata heroics. Its a necessity to follow mechanics. I remember wiping in grim batol with raid finder/normal dragonsoul gear. Like i said we were trash, but you can out gear almost anything in wotlk no matter how bad you are.
Same thing here. Funny thing is I even started in classic at the same (ish) time I started in retail. Though this time I'm not trash lol.

I have been farming zg for the tiger and raptor but i also was rep farming for recipes and mog runs if i don't get the mounts i don't get it.
Honestly I feel as though there is no reason we shouldn't have a way to travel between vanilla era azeroth and cata era. Implement it with cata classic launch and bring it to retail.
People are hating on cata just because they hated it back as a dumb kid, and wrath was also the best damn time to play wow. I was one of them too, cata was purely a raid log expansion for me.
But I'm thinking of giving it a new chance with a completely non-biased view this time. There were positives in cata too, the pvp was damn fun for one.
And if they're just planning to quick track a big playerbase into retail by releasing a new expansion every year, im not gonna be one of them. As soon as that weird in-game store mtx shit hits classic, I'll gtfo faster than anyone else.
At least i have SoD, even with all of it's flaws and toxicity.

they had removed the naxx ones when uld came out. in classic they've let you get them the whole time so I'd say it's unclear what's gonna happen
I solo farmed zg tiger and raptor before uldamon was over on my warrior. Ive been part of 2 major guilds dying, one in tbc and one in wrath. Havent logged on to my wrath toon since hardcore came out and im not going into cataclysm just for the playerbase to plummet 2 months into the expansion. Nobody is hype for cata.
So who actually plans on playing Cata? 😅

Just an idea,….. I started in wotlk and haven’t stopped retail until sod and I haven’t looked back but I feel like sod was great in teaching me the ways of classic that I missed and since I was a retail baby sod was great! Can we now get a way to transfer our baby sod mains to real classic? 🖖🇺🇸💯

I have heard that account wide mounts might not be a thing in Cat this time.... so don't assume on such. One of the PTR players was saying this in their youtubes.
Account wide mounts are already in the game in WOTLK classic...
