How Fallon scored Roots as his musicians I’ll never know, but it’s awesome.
Voicu Violeta I have been wondering for a long time what happened between Frank Knuckles and The Roots, do you know? Why was he fired from the band? I remember he sued The Roots shortly after getting fired for continuing to use his image, and some people were saying he was being petty
I can tell you it involved a human pyramid! If you google "Why did the Roots join Fallon", ?uestlove explains it.
@@OK-hr5dc :))) I just wrote it, but I had written the story before so it came easily...I haven't been watching the show as much as I used to and I was just so happy to see them interacting more w/ this interview that I was in a nostalgic mood :) Many ppl wonder how this match up happened and I think it's a great story about how Jimmy stuck to it and got what he wanted and about what was going on w/ The Roots and how come they even considered doing smth. like this...b/c I've seen ppl being nasty towards them due to this move, saying they sold out or making fools out of themselves or whatever -.- But they're not thinking that they are ppl as well and they were at a cross roads in life and that Jimmy's proposition really was special & he was different vs the other hosts (as in his youth, personality and the fact that he is very musical) and so, they are not your regular talk show band. And besides benefiting in their personal life from this move, they actually benefited very much as musicians too, you could even say it saved the band all together.
@@QiQuQi I don't really know for sure, at the time they didn't say what happened and I didn't see any interviews/speculations/mentions of it...but I can tell you that just by observing him (show interactions & his instagram mainly), after the move to the TS, I began thinking that fame was giving Frank a big head - he was being more & more flashy, appearing to spend more & more, bragging & speaking of himself in a not so humble manner, looking publicly for side deals (sponsorships & such), doing stuff on the show to attract attention...I got the feeling he got jealous b/c, w/ the move to the TS, Quest and Tariq were getting exponentially more famous & richer vs the rest of the band b/c, first Quest became Music director at the TS, then they were getting sponsorship deals and doing more & more side projects (books, acting, working on other shows or w/ other musicians).
Later I came across a rumour that he had demanded to get payed more and doing so in an aggressive/disrespectful way, maybe that he also got in a pickle related to money & that was the reason he was behaving this way, and the guys fired him b/c he was making too much trouble vs his aport to the team... *I don't know if it's all true, but for sure he was fired* ...as for the rest, I don't know, but it fits w/ my own observation of his changing behaviour before he left...and it also fits w/ him suing them that his face still appeared on some materials after he left the band and being petty about it, claiming it was hurting his reputation and even wanting the money he would have been paid if he had played in those events that were promoted w/ posters containing his face -.-
And btw, he had signed a contract allowing the band to use his image and work and he couldn't prove how his reputation got damaged due to the band using photos w/ him on materials (it actually improved) and thus a judge ruled that the band can use his likeness in perpetuity and that he's not due any compensation b/c he couldn't prove that any harm had come to him.
