  • I’m making a book press for my daughter out of some spalted white Oak. It was a fun project with some cool joinery, large dovetails, and my first wedged mortise and tenon joints. With the press made I thought I’d test it out with a first attempted woodblock print. I was pleased with the results and enjoyed the project, so let me know what you think.

Wow, lots of nice "extras" (monster dovetails, wedged tenons, etc.). I hope you get a nice payback (first thought: a cake; second thought: hand-bound collection of shop prints, notes, ???).
The jig used to make the dovetails made me smile...how often do we make jigs (and templates etc.)--often "one use only"? And I wonder how many out there get just as much satisfaction from making the "helpers" as we do the project itself?
Oh last but not least: GREAT print! 👍

Thanks for the feedback Fractode, so true the comment on the jigs and templates. Especially when they work!

a toothpick would also work and avoid hitting the nail in the future
