- Drum master Makaya McCraven is back to teach us more of his favorite tricks. This time around, Makaya takes us through what he considers the most important part of drumming: being the backbone of the band. To do this, you can use a few different tricks and techniques to build your backbeat and then add some flair, like using a flam or doubling your kick and snare. I think it's so cool how a lot of contemporary drummers are reverse-engineering hip hop sampled drums, which originally came from acoustic drums in a lot of cases. We've come full circle! Awesome video Reverb!

Concepts > patterns; amazing video this is how one becomes an amazing musician and not just player
Love this series. First one I've run into that's not about patterns or paradiddles so much as it's about pure innovation and imagination. These are simple tricks that drummers on different levels can easily incorporate, at least to some extent. Keep 'em coming!
