- In this video, I demonstrate the music that have been resued and recomposed for the SEGA video game called Sonic Pocket Adventure released for the Neo Geo Pocket Color in 1999. This video shows the music that sound similar to the previous sonic games during the classic era. Enjoy.

Okay, so this is Sonic 1 & 2 with minor elements from CD (vertical shaft from Palmtree Panic), OST from 3 & Knuckles, and the designs from Adventure. What a hodgepodge of a game.

also the fact that the non-sonic 2 zones (excluding gigantic angel) are from sonic and knuckles
I like how they use sky sanctuary for the final boss instead of the ending theme

The reason why there isn't any songs from sonic 1 and 2 is because sega doesn't own them. They would have to pay masato nakamura for that.

I wonder why Sonic Pocket Adventure uses Angel Island Act 1 for Neo South Island 2 and use Act 2 for Secret Plant 1. Same case for Hydrocity.

I really like this game, especially because of the 8-bit remixes.
I’m confused about the fact that gigantic angel is meant to be metropolis, Though it uses scrap brain tiles.

Let's be real, Knuckles' boss theme, despite just being Flying Battery, sounds better and actually sounds like a boss.

Some of the original 16-Bit tunes were clearly better. But surprisingly I preferred the 8Bit versions on some. Also to the people criticizing the reused music.. SNK didn't have much time to write completely new music and it was safer and easier to convert already known tunes.

The whole game was recycled, pretty much. Still is a blast to play.

This game is so good
I think many people don't realize that Sega didn't actually make this game. It was SNK and Sega just gave them rights to produce the game. But I'm sure SEGA helped with the development. SNK had their hands full with the release of the Neo Geo Pocket and probably didn't have time to make a completely new Sonic game. Had the NGPC been more competitive with the Game Boy Color we probably would of seen new Sonic titles made from scratch. Sadly it had way too short of a life span.

Part of me wonders why they chose Sonic 3 music for this, instead of the more accessible Sonic 1+2 soundtracks. Maybe it's because of the era this released in [1999], or the musician really liked Sonic 3, but whatever the case may be, this is one of the strangest games in Sonic's history.

I don't like that they recycled the music for this game from Sonic 3 and Knuckles, especially the boss music.
The special stage music and Neo South Island Act 1 music are not bad for the game though, since Sonic Sega Saturn video games are a bit underrated in my opinion.
While the Saturn games are underrated, Sonic Game Gear games are definitely underrated.
I do like that they recycled the S3K music. Since they barely use any music from that game nowadays.
Plus I get to hear them in 8-bits style.

Almost every stage recycled music places don't make any sense like why Secret Plant has the Angel Island Act 2 and Hydrocity Zone Act 2 music? Should it have the Chemical Plant Zone music be played in both acts? But other than that, it's an underrated game on a failure handheld.

I can tell for sure that they didn't use any songs from sonic 1 and 2 because if they did, sega would have to pay masato nakamura, since they don't own the rights to these songs.
@@greenswag7763 Even before they bought the rights to the songs, during the early 2000s. They already made a port of sonic 1 and 2 to the Saturn in 1997 with Sonic Jam.
@@Turbulation1 Since sega is cheap, they rather pay Nakamura only on rereleases of the first two games, and chooses to avoid using any of the songs they don't own on future games, with some exceptions like advance 3, generations, ect.
Also worth mentioning that the drowning theme wasn't made by Nakamura, but by a (back then) sega employee, Yukifumi makino. That's why they keep reusing it.

One of them is the last major boss being the Gigantic Angel Zone boss, Bomber Robotnik to the minor boss theme of Sonic 3.5 (It is what I call S3&K, the name sounds like something not so clever that became a meme since then, shut).
And the other one being the game over theme to the one from Sonic 3, and yes the game over theme in this one sounds *painful*

A pirate would be low quality. This clearly isn't. Sure, it's reusing tons of stuff, but Mania and Generations did that too. And yes, I know it's on an obscure console, but it's officially licensed. So maybe don't call official games pirates.
