Great review Bob. I bought one of these packs a couple years ago but switched to a final rise. Not as much storage but carries the weight better, cooler early season, modular and keeps those side pockets out of the way for hiking. Seems to be the most popular choice here in Northern NV.
Nice review! I've been using the Tenzing BV16 for 4 years. I replaced the hip belt with a military style web belt which is much more robust and lets the pack ride on your hips. I use the Garmin belt clip attached to the left shoulder strap at chest level. It's easy to remove and is secure. I carry my 2-way radio in one of the front mesh pockets attached with a short tether (lost 1 last year). i leave the sides unzipped for ease in loading birds. Overall, mine has worked nicely for me.
Thanks for the comments. I might try my radio where you keep yours, but I'm wondering if you can see the Garmin on the left strap without removing it. I'll give that a try, too. Thanks for watching!
@@bobmcmichael I have to remove the Garmin to look at it but it's just a push of the side button. Probably about as many movements as pulling it from a pocket. The water bottle issue is one that bugs me. I just carry the bottle(s) in the bird pouch. I'm 6', 200 lbs and the vest fits me right.
I've had mine for 3 seasons now. Love it biggest complaint is it's missing a water bottle pocket for the dogs. The side pockets could be a little wider too. The two tiny front pockets hold energy drink bottles or snickers bars.
Still no extra water bottle pockets, I have the original version going on 6 years or so, not enough water capacity for my forever thirsty lab. Going to try pyke or wing works one of these years.
Hello Mr Bob greetings from Greece! If you had to choose between this and the badlands, which you would prefer now. I took the badlands before 6 years because the shell pockets are high enough to avoid my legs on hiking and I am pretty pleased with the vest
Thanks, Scott. I received a replacement Alpha and testing it it my yard it worked better. I'll try it in the field tomorrow, and if it works as it's supposed to, I'll update my review. Thanks for asking.
I'm a lot bigger in the mid-section than you are, and I absolutely do not like my BV-16. I hunted Chukar and Grouse when I lived in in Utah and the vest is about as useful as carrying a regular day-pack or backpack. Totally useless for pheasant hunting, the bird pouch is simply ridiculous. If you have a dog, it doesn't carry water bottles, so you'll have to use the bladder and tube to water your dogs. I carry a collapsing bowl for that, but then it isn't as easy as just using the bottles. Like I mentioned at the beginning, I've got a gut. So that makes the shell pouches very tight and hard to use, especially with gloves on. For the price, this vest simply isn't worth it for me. I'm stuck with it until I get something better.
Thanks for your comment, which I totally understand and relate to. It's definitely not set up for water bottles, which works for me since I prefer a bladder. But the bird pouch, as you said, and which the video demonstrates, doesn't really work as it should. I'm still looking for the perfect chukar vest. Pheasant? I'm not fortunate enough to hunt them, sadly, because of "clean" farming's decimation of pheasants and lack of permission (or, more accurately, lack of sizable cash reserves to purchase hunting leases) on those few remaining farms in my area that still have pheasants.
@@bobmcmichael I used to hunt the planted birds at the Utah public WMA's... and now I live in western NY state, and no birds here except stockers. Hopefully COVID ends by next fall and the season may find me somewhere in SD for a couple days.

Thanks for your comment, all the way from Greece! I think if I had to choose I'd pick the Badlands.
The loop for the waterbladder is on the other side, under the top loop on the inside... ;-)
What part of the state of Idaho are you in?
Hello Where can I buy this product?
Great review!!! Did you resolve your Garmin problem????

If you want to fish in Morocco, you are welcome at any time. ( Partridge hunting )
Do you still hunt with this pack?
Thanks for watching. No, I went back to the Badlands pack.
😆 I always lose my headlamp too
Shoulder straps aren’t padded for a reason. If padded your gun would not fit on you
