The choreographer is married to Alan Tudyk which i also thought was pretty interesting. She made something awesome here.

Yeah, the fact that it's just a fun choreography that have nothing to do with the characters makes it even better

@@saicoso game of thrones has a great theme, but the opening is far too long for me personally. On rewatches of the show I always skip it. If it was maybe half the length it would be an amazing opening.

I think it's the only series whose opening scene I don't skip.
When I first watched it, I was about to skip it, because I typically don't really care about the opening sequences, but as soon as I saw John Cena dancing, I was mesmerized.
@@mackenziehunter4593 yeah! For me it was them doing all that choreography with a serious face the whole time. James Gunn sense of humor is similar to mines. Only he would have comic book characters doing entertaining things like this. It's crazy how we may think we won't like something but once we see it; we end up loving it
After Daredevil's opening scene this the only one which I don't skip

James Gunn is exactly what the DC cinematic universe needed, what a breath of fresh air!
While he has been making the DC universe good I hope they don't just become an off brand MCU throwing in tons of jokes and quips in their new films/shows since people will just say DC is copying the MCU instead of trying to do their own thing since we all know the last time DC tried to copy Marvel and how well that went for them cough cough *Josstice League* cough.

@@k-master973 That's true however I think he may be a little more liberated working on DC projects like this simply because it's R-rated so he wouldn't be limited by the age restrictions of the jokes and contents.
However now Disney will soon have R-rated films in the MCU, too (with Deadpool and the recently announced season 4 of Daredevil with Charlie Cox) I really hope he could make an R-rated show with the GoG characters.
The man deserves a reward just for creating this opening alone, normally you would skip them instantly just to get to the show quicker, or it gets boring after a dozen times. But this is a masterpiece.

It's heart-warming that Gunn wanted to make a sequence so great that people would watch the opening titles names. The same way he dangles a post credit scene each episode so people watch the people's names who worked on the show.
It's really satisfying knowing everyone in this show is just having fun, no stress whatsoever. This is very nice way from the director to actually get along and friends with all casts.

I love how James Gunn doesn't shy away from the comic book goofiness and instead embraced it. This opening dance is the proof of that.
I think it’s better than marvel when it comes to the comic book goofiness because they embrace it rather then point it out and then laugh for a few seconds

Before he made this show, James Gunn made the Guardians of the Galaxy movies first, which is a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe. And in those movies, he did the same thing he does here: embracing the goofiness of the source material (he literally made outlandish characters like Groot and Rocket work).
And there's also Taika Waititi, who directed Thor Ragnarok (and later Love and Thunder) and pull off the same thing James Gunn did.
So I don't think Marvel just pointed out the goofiness, laugh it out and then leave it at that. They literally had Wakanda (an impossibly advanced tech city in Africa), TVA (a time cop organization) and other outlandish stuff, yet they don't play it off as a joke.

Yes, it's not like the superhero movies of the 2000s where they try to be as grounded and serious as possible like the X-men movies where they even make fun of the idea of wearing their comic book costumes although the X-Men characters did end up wearing them at the end of X-Men Apocalypse. The Dark Knight trilogy, the first Iron Man movie and the Incredible Hulk movie were pretty grounded as well.

I really love how tightly coupled music is to everything James Gunn does. It's never an afterthought. It's always a central component and he does a bloody good job showcasing it.
And that's the difference between his Suicide Squad movie and the previous one.
and gunn also takes bands nobody's ever heard of or haven't heard from in a while and gets their careers pumping again too

Only opening I'm not skipping in like 15 years or so, gives such a good vibe. And I think it's a first opening imo that is essential part of the show itself.

Loving this show so far. If James Gunn and his cast can keep things going at this level of entertainment, I could see this show being a new favorite of mine.

Absolutely fantastic....everyone involved: actors, choreographers, set and costume designers, lighting crew, please take a well-deserved bow! Without hyperbole this is the best opening title sequence on American television and the most unique and eye-catching thing I've seen in decades. It's hypnotic, bizarre, and beautiful.
Please leave out all hints of wokeness for season two though. So gross.
The CGI on Eagly is so convincing, especially in the intro.
I liked the show - but was totally blown away by the opening. It frames the show up brilliantly. It’s the only intro since stranger things that I don’t skip, because it’s sets up the tone of the show every time. Love it. It’s brilliant.
I think the special spice that makes the intro work so well, (besides obviously the choreography, the song and everthing else that makes it awesome) is the fact that all of the characters have super stowic, blank expressions the entire time. They're doing this ridiculous, crazy dance routine, but their faces all look like they're listening to the national anthem.
Kudos to the choreographer, and combined with the choice of music. The whole idea for this opening, perfect!
What I like about this intro is that it's unique. Have you ever seen a superhero series or movies or even a villain series or movie have an intro like this? Even some comedy shows doesnt have an intro like this
The Drew Carey show was the last one that had a dance number for an opening scene.
Gunn loves doing dances like this one for example his movie Super (2010) has an animated dance opening sequence and Gotg Vol. 2 had a music video

Yeah because it's way so cringe to add, especially in dark theme films from DC. Love the show but the intro looks like cartoon opening scene and it ruined the dark theme ( with lame jokes too ) for me.
The first Guardians Of The Galaxy and GOTG 2. Peter , in GOTG dancing and "singing" while kicking a lizards and using them as microphones and in GOTG 2,baby Groot dancing in the foreground while the other Guardians are battling it out, out of focus, in the background...but this is a group choreography so different but similar.
This was the most unexpected opening for a superhero show I’ve ever seen.

I love how the intro transitioned me into the show. At the start, I was bopping my head. By the end, I was trying to do the dance.
This is the only openining sequence to a show that we don't immediately skip when the "Skip Intro" button shows up. Love it!
