      @@Terraw As a bonus, since the school bus has a much larger area of contact, the force would be distributed along each surface that it hit you. With a coin, that area is much much smaller, so it would really be more like an entire school bus with a giant ~.25 ft² rod on the front punching through your chest! Or face, or wherever you want. Even more fun :)
      As for the coin outline debate, I think you're correct to count outlines. The only time you wouldn't measure by the very outer edge is with liquids, in which case you'd use the bottom of the meniscus; that doesn't apply to plat coins though.
      Good vid though! Glad I subbed

    Fun fact: The tsunami - a weapon that you could theoretically obtain at the same stage as the coin gun, while also being less actively tedious to obtain and instead just requiring decent technical skill - has roughly the same DPS with an archery build and holy arrows. Except, y'know, it doesn't cost an arm, a leg, a human soul, and 400,000 dollars to fire for 12 seconds.

  • @SmoothTurtle840
    @SmoothTurtle840 Год назад +41

    The thing I always thought was neat about the Ranged class is how you are allowed to make yourself absurdly powerful at all points in progression as long as you are willing to grind for the best gear. I know this is also true for the other classes but for Ranged it goes beyond that. You can get the “best” weapons with a normal amount of grind, but acquiring the best ammo is extremely resource intensive.
    Like in pre-HM, where early on you can get Jester Arrows but since they need an inconsistently available resource to craft, they can be quite expensive. Later on in pre-HM, Unholy Arrows become available, -but if you aren’t in a Corruption world they are quite annoying to obtain- scratch that, 1.4.4 made them craftable with Vertebrae as well, but they are still very good. There’s also the Star Cannon, which by itself isn’t too hard to craft. Then you realize you need Fallen Stars to shoot the dang thing, and then all motivation to use it is lost, despite that it’s the best pre-HM ranged weapon. Lastly, late in pre-HM you can get Beenades, and although not as good as they once were, they still tear up loads of enemies and, most importantly, WoF.
    In HM, like what this video is about, you can get the Coin Gun, which is actually unique in the sense that not only is its best ammunition extremely resource intensive to acquire, the gun itself is a slog to obtain as well (albeit its much easier in CelebrationMk10 & GetFixedBoi worlds). There’s also the Super Star Shooter (the upgraded Star Cannon, I think that’s what it’s called), yet again needing Fallen Stars. Later, once you get yourself any type of launcher, getting the best ammo requires you to get a good bit of Shroomite Bars, which isn’t as bad as it used to be now that Glowing Mushroom biomes are much bigger in size. And finally at the end of the game, when you have beaten ML, you can craft both Luminite Arrows and Luminite Bullets, but since they require Luminite to craft, you will have to refight the longest boss battle in the game a couple times before you have a comfortable amount of the resource.
    I don’t know why I spent 10-15 minutes writing this long-ass comment that no one is gonna read, but here we are.

    • @henzy7397
      @henzy7397 Год назад +4

      Actually pretty true. Iirc you can get Tsunami pretty much at the start of HM as long as you're skilled enough to kill Duke Fishron, which makes the rest of the game practically a breeze. Though this argument applies to the other classes as well since Duke Fishron has the strongest gear that isn't from the Pillars or the Moon Lord.

    i feel like the item or projectile sprite aren't a good measurement of how large the platinum coin is. the item is big to be recognisable and the projectiles is long to be more visible. i think the placed block can help with the scale. as the outline of the block is not rigid like a coin would be i will be assuming it is not a part of the coin.
    the block is likely most accurate to the copper coin, so i will measure the copper coin and then scale up to the size of the platinum coin.
    the copper coin is roughly 15.25 cm tall and wide, while it is 7.125 cm thick rounding 60.96 cm up to 61 because screw freedom units.
    in item form the copper coin is twice as big as the item- making each pixel half as big- roughly 3.0625 cm. the platinum coin item is 2 pixels taller and 1 pixel wider than the copper coin item. this would make it 22.375 cm tall and 18.335 cm wide. the thickness of the platinum coin is hard to tell, but since none of the other coins appear to get thicker i'm just gonna assume the platinum coin won't either. so, 22.375 cm tall, 18.335 cm wide and 7.125 cm thick.
    how much will it weigh? absolutely no idea. i just wanted to measure it, i don't know how much it'll weigh

      One, that's a coilgun or railgun you're thinking of. Two, neither copper, silver, gold, nor platinum are magnetic metals. I guess they could be steel plated with precious metals.

    It costs four billion dollars to fire this weapon for _twelve seconds._

    You know I once had an idea about a halo and a terraria crossover,then I realize the horror the enemies of humanity
    Would’ve face agains the terrariant he would straight up turn covenant&brutes into paste,and would 1v1 a grave mind wile fighting it a beyond march 12 speeds
    the terrarian would compete with the entire unc military might against the convenant
    because the terrarian would wipe out most covenant ground forces before the unc troops get to fire a shot

    The terraria ranger class is balanced around the material resource loss that is using ammunition, with that gun being the extreme exemple.
    The same can be said about mage, but mana is a time based resouce, and minions, but that scale by minion slots? Idk, never did a full minion run.
    Melee should, in theory, give less as you do not lose anything using it. But because the challenges were better suited to the other classes that did expend resources for power, in the end that logic turned to a pretty bad gameplay overall, that 1.4.4 buffed, and in some form breaked the balance that was before.
    Not saying it was a bad move. As a non-competitive game, why not make all forms of play fun. But that might have given players the idea that melee is way better than all else.

    Would there not be a way to handle the recoil, like having it vent most of it through projectiles ejecting diagonally around the user using the pressure? Or simply venting the pressure, that'd at least mitigate it I'm sure

    it should actually weigh around 5511.56 pounds if you assume that a copper coin is a penny, then weigh based on how many copper coins are in it. there are 1m copper coins in each platinum coin, and each penny weighs about 2.5g. meaning; 5511.56 pounds.
